Good. Maybe he's past that core muscle tear by now and can get back to nailing them.

I mean, what else can they do?

It's almost impossible to get below the cap without restructuring deals.

The contracts are written for the sole purpose of restructure. For this principle to work it must be maintained. As long as the cap keeps skyrocketing it will continue to be the most cost effective way to remain competitive year after year ... barring unforeseen levels of injury, of course. But even with that we remained in the hunt for a playoff spot until the final week.

What if revenue contracted for a few years ? Many say it's not going to happen, but are they correct in saying so simply because it hasn't happened yet? I can already hear a few expletives by quite a few NFL executives of that were to happen.

The new broadcast deals have already guaranteed the growth will continue for the next decade. Any new deals will begin being negotiated years before those expire. There will always be plenty of foresight before any extended contraction could take place. For now any contraction wouldn't hurt the league, it would affect the broadcast partners that have already committed to what they pay the league.

The only thing that could cause a hiccup in the massive growth worldwide would be another pandemic or a world war. In either case the profitability of the NFL would have little importance in comparison.

Re: Official 2023 OFFSEASON Thread

It seems quite a few people do not understand how these restructures work. The players are not negatively affected by these restructures. If anything they receive salary that would have been paid weekly throughout the season in a lump sum immediately upon restructure into the signing bonus. They can start collecting interest on it now instead of later.
