I'd like to have put Grayson in and start letting Drew heal, recover, but... Might as well finish it out with a win because we're not going to get in the Top 10 picks... If Laquon Treadwell has a monster game, it makes selecting him less likely... Reggie Ragland has been the beneficiary of some great line play, I'd love to pair him with Anthony in a 3-4... |
Re: 2016 NFL Draft Prospect Thread ...............
Hopefully tonight isn't the last time we see Treadwell playing in the Super Dome! ; )

WR Laquon Treadwell, Ole Miss, 6' 2", 210 lbs had six (6) receptions for seventy-two (72) receiving yards and THREE (3) TOUCHDOWNS!!! Oh, Treadwell also threw a forty-five (45) yard pass... On the season, coming off a major knee injury the previous season, Treadwell's numbers are: Games - 12 Receptions - 76 Rec Yds - 1082 Touchdowns - 8 While not as big as Colston, and that'll be missed at times, Treadwell has the same sure hands and as large a catch radius; how much that former injury will shorten LT's productive cycle in the NFL is also a concern taking when taking him in the first round; Treadwell though is known for his versatility (yes, he can throw the ball) as he's an excellent downfield blocker and he's very combative going up for jump balls; now, if we fall to the fourteenth (14) or further selection, chances of getting a shot to select him seem less likely, though we're still very early in the draft selection process... Another possible first round pick is WR Michael Thomas, Ohio State, 6' 3" 210 lbs; against Notre Dame in the Fiesta Bowl, Thomas caught seven (7) balls for seventy-two (72) yards and a touchdown against Notre Dame; scouts like to remark that Thomas has good bloodlines as the nephew to Keyshawn Johnson (personally, that concerns me), but of greater concern was how he disappeared at times during the Buckeyes year... Thomas is considered "pro-ready" and already a proto-typical NFL possession receiver... |
Re: 2016 NFL Draft Prospect Thread ...............
If Tredwell is off the board or the saints do not pick him I say go late round to add to the WR corp. I am not all that impressed with the depth at WR so far in the draft.

Picking #12
Must improve that anemic pass rush. My top choice is Robinson DE/DT from Alabama. |
Re: 2016 NFL Draft Prospect Thread ...............
Not seen enough college football to know whos who this year. So i just want a nasty guard,a pair of dynamic defensive tackles and dynamite pass rushing defensive end and a good coverage linebacker.
Oh a number 1 WR wouldn't go amiss either P.S And some line depth PPS A free safety too PPPS some new position coaches |
Re: 2016 NFL Draft Prospect Thread ...............
Our IR list is just about as long as our list of needs. I agree on a pass rush and think OG is up there. We will make playoffs next year and hopefully the rebuilding process will be finished. I still like Brees for three to four more years.

Re: 2016 NFL Draft Prospect Thread ...............
I do not see Treadwell dropping to us. He is a better prospect than DeVante Parker, who went to the dolphins at 14 last year
Jalen Ramsey still gets my vote as the player that may drop lower than they think. He did not show the development as a CB that most thought he would and he has played a different position every year at Florida St. how far? He is a safety that still needs time to develop. Skills are there but safeties do not go in the top 10 as a general rule of thumb. He is not the #1 CB in the draft. He actually maybe the 5th or 6th best CB in the draft. It is all about solid huge amounts of upside. Ramsey is my #1 over hyped media darling. DeForest Buckner is right there with him. I would draft Ramsey in a heart beat as a safety knowing it will be a year or two till you really get to see how good he is. Ramsey is one of the best FS/SS or SS/FS to come out in the modern pass happy era of the NFL. Put him at SS and watch Byrds production improve. When Byrd goes down as he seems to always do he can step in right away and do better than any of players we have now. This is a skill set the NFL might be finally seeing as a must have to defend against today's pass happy NFL |
Re: 2016 NFL Draft Prospect Thread ...............
OK now we are talking Hog invasion of the draft
Arkansas TE Hunter Henry intends to enter 2016 NFL Draft "I have enjoyed my experience more than I could have ever imagined", Henry said in a letter to fans. Arkansas offensive tackle Denver Kirkland (6-foot-5, 340 pounds), who projects more as a guard in the National Football League, announced he intends to enter the 2016 draft as well. "For that, I am forever grateful", Kirkland said. Arkansas TE Hunter Henry intends to enter 2016 NFL Draft next up? Arkansas running back Alex Collins, a three-time 1,000-yard rusher, is expected to announce his plans regarding the draft later this week. He had 74 catches for 937 yards and eight touchdowns in two seasons with the Cardinal. I really like the attitude the hogs instill in their players Henry and Collins will upset my wish list lol |
Re: 2016 NFL Draft Prospect Thread ...............
poor mans Treadwell or poor mans Anquan Boldin
Potential: When I watch Tajae Sharpe play three specific attributes stand out; physicality, ball skills, and body control. There are a lot of receivers who have Sharpe's six-foot-three size, but very few use it as well as he does. Sharpe does such a great job positioning his body to box out smaller defenders on everything from slant routes to fades. He's clearly is a naturally strong athlete as he quite easily overpowers defensive backs, but you don't ever see him get caught up in hand fighting or shoving, he simply takes what he wants. Also tracking the ball downfield is another rare trait that you don't always see in receivers. Sharpe takes perfect angles to the ball downfield and allows the ball to travel over his shoulder to hit him in stride instead of stopping his momentum and giving the defensive back a chance recover. However, when he does elevate to make a reception his leaping ability is outstanding, he can contort his body in any which way and he just always seems to know where the sideline is and make sure he gets his feet in. To me, Sharpe has a lot of Anquan Boldin in him. Maybe Sharpe doesn't have the quicks that Boldin did in his prime, but they have the same playing style as well as mental and physical toughness. On the low side, Jaguars wide receiver Allen Robinson also has a very similar style. Sharpe is a name you're going to hear talked about more and more as the season goes on, and probably especially so in January where he'll be a shoo-in for the Senior Bowl, where I'd expect him to make some serious noise. He's a day two prospect at this point for sure. http://www.nfldraftgeek.com/tajaesha...6nfldraft.html Tajae Sharpe WR Massachusetts 6025 200 4.48 |
Re: 2016 NFL Draft Prospect Thread ...............
R7 Brad Craddock K Maryland 6003 192 4.88
Craddock's accuracy is pretty remarkable given that he has only been playing American rules football for the past three years. He has worked with former NFL kicker Matt Stover during that time and appears to possess the confident personality needed to handle the pressure of the next level. Craddock is a former four-sport athlete in high school (soccer, tennis, track and Australian rules football) with enough agility and size to offer some flexibility on fakes. He's quick to the ball and gets impressive height on his kicks, with zero blocks in 167 attempts (field goal and extra points). Craddock's power translates well to kickoffs, where he has maintained a solid 62.45-yard average, though only 29 of 75 kickoffs in 2014 went for touchbacks. Making Craddock's accuracy all the more impressive was that 11 of his field-goal attempts were from 40-plus yards, including a school-record 57 yarder against eventual national champion Ohio State and a game-winning 43-yarder in the closing seconds to beat Penn State in Happy Valley. Craddock's lone miss on the year was a 54-yarder against Rutgers. Brad Craddock, K, Maryland, NFL Draft - CBSSports.com - NFLDraftScout.com |

CB i want for the saints - Smart and tough as nails
Jalen Ramsey Fla St - but skill sets is that of a FS/SS Desmond King Iowa - but he appears to be staying in school so next up Eric Murray CB Minnesota 5105 196 4.45 Murray, who lines up as the boundary corner, doesn't stand out in one particular category, but he is very well-rounded with good size, speed and physicality for the position. He plays with confidence and is well-versed in press, off and zone coverages, showing off his versatility as a reliable run defender and blitzer. With only one career interception, Murray doesn't receive much attention on a national level, but he has 18 passes defended over his 26 starts the past two seasons and is lauded by Minnesota coaches for his work ethic and competitive drive on and off the field, also excelling on special teams. Eric Murray, Minnesota, NFL Draft - CBSSports.com - NFLDraftScout.com My veiw? Teams avoided Murray for the last two years. Big plus is all around skill set as a CB. Coverage, tackling, blitzing, special teams, just as skilled outside as in the slot. He is Mr Do Everything. The saints have a huge void at secondary players that are just fundamental sound. Pet Pev - way to many ball tacklers and the reason so many draft prospects IMO should be passed on. I compare King and Murray's skill sets to those of Mike Mckinsey when he came out of college. Nothing flashy but light years ahead of all the others in polished fundamentals. Smart and tough as nails So far that is my short list thru round 4. i expect one maybe 2 will surface as the NFL draft beauty show gets underway |

First thing I would do is get an OL coach, one with real nasty schemes that piss defenders off. I mean nasty. Second, trade to move up and get the best OL pick we can get into this new scheme. Next a DT than can bust through on 3rd down. He will only be used on 3rd and 4th down. All the other picks who cares.

Want to take about the same risk without the high draft pick his team mate, Anthony Zettel has basically the same positives and negatives yet a bit more athletic but not as well built. He is one I am watching closely during the pre draft. 2nd vs 5th. He needs to bulk up but he is all about desire and heart also. As a 43 late round DE development pick he is high on my wish list. Jarren Reed - He is the unsung impact player of the Bama front 4. People started to see his ability late in the season. Is he good because of the unit as a whole or is he just that good. If sacks are your thing look elsewhere. If you are looking DT that is gap disciplined and plug the middle, set the edge and get those tackles for losses look no further. He can be a DT in 43 and a DE in a 34. Love this kids versitility. But the risk appears to be there with being part of a unit. I am waiting to see what his does at the bowls pro day and combine before final judgement. do not be surprised to see him go much earlier than most think. He has just as good of a chance to be the first Bama defender selected as the other right now IMO. do not over look Jarran Reed either Myles Jack - test that knee! If you want a LB that can do just about anything as an OLB you need look no further. There is one area I am concerned about is making tackles in a crowd. Tackles in the open field is not an issue. But get in there in the phone both with the big boys, he has questions to answer. As a LB that can make the highlight reels it is probably the safest pick in the draft. If that knee checks out and the saints pick him I will conclude the saints are tried of TE eating them up game after game after game. He also has the ability to blow up swing passes and those annoying sweeps that always get 8 yards each and every time they run it. If we draft him in round 1 we will know early on in the draft we are a 43 defense also. |

Treadwell is the real deal and would be the perfect complement to Cooks who's too small to win the physical battles... How can guard not be an issue for our offensive line?!? And the Tight End had some big games against really good opponents, including Clemson... FS Jairus Byrd has been a huge disappointment (at least for those who believed this would work) can't stay on the field to make plays... SS Kenny Vaccaro for all his great physical talent and plays negates with bone-headed plays will be headed for free agency... Hogan is my luxury pick, but I believe he's the goods and Brees doesn't have another three years, if two... |
