Re: 2016 NFL Draft Prospect Thread ...............

Andrew Billings? I am gun shy on DL and OL that play in or against the spread their entire college career.

Do not get me wrong the kid is a quick footed bull ox so i understand the amazement. With his athletic ability and continually in a backfield I would expect his production to be greater than it was

That brings me to my number one concern about the kid

awareness - slow in diagnosing a play and locating the ball

Add to the fact i do not expect the kid to be 6-2 I will be surprised if he is 6-1

My DT short list
R1 A'Shawn Robinson DT Alabama 6032 312 5.18
R2 Austin Johnson NT Penn State 603 325 5.27
R3 Chris Jones DT/DE Mississippi St 6045 308 5.12
R4 Vetron Butler DT LA Tech 6032 316 5.06 ?
R5 D.J. Reader DT/OG Clemson 6021 325 5.04 ?
R6
R7

My favorite bad boy

Josh Tupou, NT, Colorado 6-3 325 5.00

I would have him on my must talk to list and if the interviews go well, he has an excellent chance of being a huge steals late in the draft or as UDFA?

2017 NT watch

Blah blah blah

Mike Thomas, WR, Southern Miss (6-1, 186)
– Not to be confused with Ohio State's standout wide receiver, the Golden Eagle pass catcher actually was more productive this season than the Buckeye wideout. He has lean features, but shows terrific burst out of his routes and quick hands.

Mid to late round GEM He has more than once caught my eye. A pest of WR to a secondary. Sneaky cockroach with hands

Mekale McKay, WR, Cincinnati (6-4, 195) – Over the summer, McKay received high marks from area scouts as one of the top senior wideouts in the country. While his 2015 season didn't live up to the expectations, he has the size and ballskills to highpoint and rebound the ball over defensive backs.

I have to agree I expected more but worth keeping an eye on

Antwaun Woods, DT, USC (6-1, 320)
– The Trojans' starting nose tackle, Woods isn't a rangy player, but attracts double-teams and clogs up the middle of the line of scrimmage due to his wide-bodied base. Although he's a short-area player, he's also a hustler who won't give up on plays.

Talk about a player that after the coaching change at USC started play. Heart? Priority UDFA?

Doug Middleton, DS, Appalachian State (6-0, 210) – Physically, Middleton looks like he belonged in the SEC with a strong build, long arms and speed to attack downhill. He needs to improve his take-on skills and anticipation vs. the pass, but he does offer valuable experience on special teams coverages.

You gotta love those Mr do everything types UDFA?

Hagan, I appreciate your take on Billings. Really interesting stuff. If Billings isn't the guy though how would you like to see us address the 3-technique position? A'Shawn Robinson is great but drafting him would still leave us with a gaping hole next to him. Robinson, John Jenkins and Tyeler Davison are all best suited to play the same role.

blow of the definitions of 43 DT a bit. Look at Carolina. Carolina approach is simple and fundamentally sound. Push the pocket, overwhelm and/or occupy more than one interior blocker with each DT. meaning the RB has to pay more attention to the rush up the middle leaving the DE as a secondary assignment. More now than ever since Short's game has reached the next level. Carolina built a defense to stop the saints before the pass happy rule changes even came into effect.

Star Lotulelei, 6024 311 5.41 now at 320
we got slow lumbering beef to bad they do not demand DBL teams. Both DT need to be upgraded IMO right now.

We do not have
Kawann Short, 6027 299 5.08 now 315
The knock on Short was leg strength. Think that is a mute issue now

A'Shawn Robinson 6032 312 5.18

I see more than a pure run stuffer in him. Right now I agree his game is mostly all about power. But Like Short he needs work on developing his pass rush repertoire. But the first-step quickness and fluidity are there. I am expecting to see him to raise a few eye brows and be a bit more versatile than the media scouting reports have him pegged at. I think there is more to this kid than Nick Saban's system ha shown us.

Beauty show requirements.

Give me a (shorts numbers)
10 yard split under 1.80 (1.75)
20 Shuttle under 4.75 (4.65)
3 cone drill under 7.7 (7.55)
Broard jump greater than 8-6 (8-4)
Vertical over 30 (27)
And i say it is a mute issue.

A'Shawn Robinson should be able to handle these numbers.

Billings i see why people like him but for me it will be all about the interview and football IQ. I see a lot of him in D.J. Reader who sat out a year.

Robinson I see it coming down to him showing he has more athletic ability than we think. Even if he does not he would be an upgrade to what we have now. As would Austin Johnson Penn St. and my favorite tease of the draft Chris Jones Miss St could be the shocker.

At 12 I am still stuck on Connor Cook myself. SP and Drew guiding this kid looks like a marriage made in heaven.

Sell me on pick 12 for
LB Leonard Floyd, Georgia; Height: 6' 3"; Weight: 232 lbs.

I was not up to speed on
FS Darian Thompson, Boise St; Height: 6' 2"; Weight: 210 lbs.
but now I am starting to thinking he is a solid option

Why? C Max Tuerk, USC; Height: 6' 5", Weight: 295 lbs.

? QB Kevin Hogan, Stanford; Height: 6’ 4”, Weight: 220 lbs.

Ok Hogan had a light come on this year and played extremely well but.

I still want to know if the conversion of spread QB Garrett Grayson project a failure? If so I have to take Cook if he is there. Waiting and gambling on Hogan IMO makes no sense. Cook being rated as low first is a huge steal much less at 12. He is the most polished pro ready QB in the draft and maybe more so than any QB to come out in the past 10 years. The issue he has are right up SP and Drew's alley to correct. Pull an Arron Rodgers with the kid and saints will set for years to come. I am starting to buy into this QB ideology big time this year because of Cook.

P Drew Kaser, Texas A & M; Height: 6' 3", Weight: 215 lbs. - major concern for me is the kid buckles under pressure. I am betting on UDFA

JP & Hagan, what did I miss on this prospect?

Reverse...

Kaser has the physical tools; A & M felt he was a lock for All-American and sent him to SEC Media Day as their kid, might have been too much with little prep, support, grooming; seems to be a theme at Texas A & M; we're paying waaaay too much for Morstead's pedestrian, inconsistent play and he's got an amazing leg and even broke Shane Lechler's record for nailing 'em inside the twenty...

Hogan fought a lot of ghosts and critics to really help Stanford make a run this season; death of his father and not going to Notre Dame as his Dad, following behind and constantly hearing he's not Andrew Luck; just saw something on film in the Stanford v. Notre Dame game that impressed me with the way he stepped up and led that team...

Note: Regarding Cook, find he disappears in big games...

Max Tuerk has great size, physical attributes; feel he could really excel in a zone blocking scheme as an interior lineman for us; he could also tutelage under Max Unger for down the road...

Completely understand the money and investment in both Byrd and Vaccaro; but the allowance in the big plays; it's time to admit the gambles were failures; have both Boise St FS Darian Thompson and SS Miles Killebrew, Southern Utah in my pick list...

They can transition to starters during the coming season and then cut ties with Byrd and Vaccaro next offseason; we've got to solve that big gaping hole in the middle of our defense; started with Anthony, finish the project on the backend...

Regard Floyd at pick 12; when I look at the current rated players and where we're picking, Treadwell, then Floyd makes the most sense; Floyd could put his hand down or rush upright; reminds me of a Pat Swilling type with his lean, elongated body type; he's got strong, violent hands to disengage blockers as Swilling had; he would also allow us the versatility to go to a 3-4; stack Kikaha behind Cam Jordan, force Cam to secure the edge and do more bull rushing and have this guy working around that edge; he's got the athleticism to cover the flats as well...

1. OT Stanley, LB Ragland, DE Ogbah
2. DT Billings, DE Lawson, OLB Perry
3. OLB Calhoun, OLB Jones, OG Garnett
4. TE Williams, WR Seals-Jones, K Aguayo
5. OLB Ngakoue, K Aguayo, RB Dixon
7. WR Robinson, DT Reader, K Fairbairn

The first guy is who I took at first-pick.com with no trades choosing who was available. The site gave me a 8959 A+. Stanley can play guard and locks down 4 out of 5 spots with real talent. Evans, who had a solid year, is the weak link. I'll take that. Billings fills a need with talent. Calhoun is a pass rusher who has a high motor, was productive and was coached well. Williams fills a need and is a complete TE. Ngakoue makes plays behind the line of scrimmage and has a high motor and upside. Robinson has the size and skills. Could be a boom, and I'll take that in the 7th, or he may bust. Worth the risk.

I agree to an extent but I am holding out on shoulder injury which is my number one concern. When you look at his game the kid has guts. maybe too much. he trust his WR which for the number of dropped passes is rather remarkable in itself.

Love the small things in his game that puts him light years ahead of ant QB drafted in a long time. Example: Varing his drop back speed no matter if it is a 3,5 or 7 step drop to allow routes to develop is one of the hardest thing for a QB to master. He has so many small things down pat it amazes me. That makes his coaching so much easier. QB take 3 to 5 years to just to get to the point they are doing it naturally. Almost all the basic fundamentals are there. Cook had some excellent coaching through out his career. high school thru college.

I believe sitting and studying behind Drew and the coaching of SP for a few years would be a solid move for him and the saints.

If the saints can trade back and still get the kid and picks I would be happy. If the media is right and he falls into the second I will be amazed and even more ecstatic if the saints grabbed him there.

He and Derek Carr are a lot alike. Except Cook is further long in his development by at least 3 to 5 years.

Crow in the fridge and waiting to be eaten.

East-West Shrine Game Day 2 observations

» South Carolina State DT Javon Hargrave: He's undersized (6-foot-2, 295 pounds), but a quick and explosive player. He's flashed both days in the pass-rush drills and in the one-on-ones. And even in the team drills, you can see how quick his get-off is.

Mike Mayock ✔ @MikeMayock

EW Shrine day 2- Javon Hargrave- SCAR ST- quick and explosive / bubble butt / 1 gap and go...force me to watch his college tape tonight !

» Boston College safety Justin Simmons: He's not necessarily a highly rated kid but he might be able to play both safety and corner. He's big and strong, and I loved his tape against Notre Dame.

» Illinois safety Clayton Fejedelem: The kid's been all around the ball for two days now. He had 140 tackles this past season so you knew coming in that he was a tough guy. And he is. But it has been nice to see him around the ball, making plays in the passing game.

East-West Shrine Game Day 2 observations - NFL.com

Utah State wide receiver Hunter Sharp moves fast in everything he does. He's quick off the line, accelerates in his routes and shows burst at the top of routes. He needs to be more consistent catching the football, especially over the middle on slants and crossers, but his play speed stood out during drills

Florida Atlantic defensive tackle Trevon Coley has lived in the backfield during practice drills, using quick burst off the ball and a wide range of hand tactics to defeat interior linemen. He is shorter than ideal, but uses that natural leverage and lower body flexibility to dip past the shoulder of blockers, finishing with pop. Along with South Carolina State defensive tackle Javon Hargrave, Coley is a step above the other defensive linemen this week.

On more than one occasion, Michigan linebacker Joe Bolden drew “ooh's and ahh's” from the crowd, shooting gaps and blowing up the ballcarrier before he could hit the hole. He's very average from a size/speed standpoint, but Bolden is a ball magnet and doesn't play with hesitation, which is being noticed by the dozens of NFL scouts in attendance.

On day two of his transition to running back, Navy's Keenan Reynolds continued to impress catching the ball out of the backfield with quick, reliable hands. He also practiced as a punt returner.

2016 Shrine Game: Navy's Keenan Reynolds looks natural at RB - CBSSports.com

» Miami safety Deon Bush: Bush is a bigger safety than Byrd at 6-1, 205. He did a nice job today covering tight ends in one-on-one drills, and he should.

» Illinois RB Josh Ferguson: He is really quick. If you watch his change of direction, he really pops. I'm eager to go watch tape on him after seeing him here. I really liked watching him. He's kind of a third-down change-of-pace guy who needs to catch the football, and he does it effortlessly.

Justin Simmons BC FS/SS 6024 201 4.59
Every year I try to keep a player as a surprise and .. well I guess I need to find another. Simmons was a solid enforcer for the golden eagles. good football IQ and a leader of one of the better defenses in 2015. Here is a player that could turn out to be a shocker when all said and done. He is your typical BC player. No none sense lunch pail toting fundamentally sound player. Do not buy into the CB position right now he is a long way away from being ready to play there right now. But as a safety he has all the skill sets one is looking for. vastly under rated.

Rotoworld's Josh Norris and CBS Sports' Dane Brugler both think. Brugler specifically says Simmons's best position in the NFL is free safety, calling the Eagles' star "fast and decisive in all directions, closing with purpose in coverage and as a run defender."

Here is were I go against the media, I think he fits the mold of a modern day SS in the pass happy NFL. As a safety with a solid combine he could go mid-second day and be a draft day shocker, maybe Day 3 at this point in time and I believe he would have to have a really bad showing all together to go as a UDFA. If he did he would be on speed dial 1. The kid is clean and i will go as far as saying resign FA safeties would be a mute issue

Key catch phrases
tackling machine, takes great angles, deep cover safety with good range, ball skills, and smarts on the back end. Typical BC kid: smart and disciplined vastly under rated

Joe Bolden ILB Michigan 6031 232 4.82

He aint much to look at but his game is all about attitude and IQ. He is a huge reason the Michigan defense was so good. he owns the middle and takes it personal if you dare to venture there. hesitation is not a thing he excels at. Want a LB that reads and react shots the gap and blows up plays? he is your guy. want some one that has some coverage skills? look else where. not that he can not cover but his range is limited. he is a two down thumper. He could be a beast on special teams that would be excellent depth and bring a nastiness to the defense we seem to be missing.

This is the type of kid that you never really sure of till he gets on the field and he may surprise the world. He reminds me of the kid from Wisconsin a few years back that left the nfl because of concussions and he played for the 49ers. forgot his name.

he plays football old school style. smart with a nasty attitude. snot bubble maker for sure

Below are the 2016 Shrine Game Height, Weight, Hand Size, Arm Length and Wingspan Measurements.

Notes:
QB Hand Size (9.5 is a good threshold)
Stave-10 5/8; Frohnapfel-10 5/8; Rudock-9 3/4 Sudfeld-9 5/8; Doughty-9 1/4; Adams-8 3/4

WRs with Sub 9.5 in hands: (9 or 9.5 is a good threshold, depending on team tolerance)
T. Sharpe (7 3/4) R.Anderson (8 3/8) R. Scott (9 1/4) Allison (9), Anthrax (9)

Longest Wingspans:
OTs Fallin (83 3/4), Shell (83 5/8), Lumpkin (83.5), Cooper (83 1/4) and DE Okwara (83 3/4)

2016 Shrine Game Weigh In Measurements

Dam T. Sharpe (7 3/4) first real negative about this kid. we be talking tiny winnie hands here. this could effect his draft stock so he needs to be almost flawless from here on out. the kid can catch though

right now CBS.com has him as a 7th rounder but he battled an ankle injury all 2015 season

FSU's Smith hoping to have dynamic performance in East-West Shrine Game

“I played MIKE, SAM and WILL during my time at Florida State so whatever a team wants me to play I plan on doing,” Smith said.

The 6-foot-3, 219 pound defender has looked solid in practice this week, drawing rave reviews for his coverage ability. While he likely needs to bulk up to play at the next level, his instincts and understanding of the game have been molded by the coaching staff at Florida State. As a senior, Smith focused on improving elements of his game that rarely came into focus in prior years.

“Just kind of play more downhill, in the box," said Smith, regarding his goals as a senior. "I do a lot of coverage stuff and that kind of was my first nature, so it [was] just about training myself to come downhill and playing more aggressively against the run."

Re: 2016 NFL Draft Prospect Thread ...............

The scoop: "I don't care what he can't do right now, I just care about what he is physically able to do in the future. Worst-case scenario, he is a core special-teams player and backup. He has an NFL body, so you ask yourself if he can be coached up." -- NFC college scouting director on Minnesota linebacker De'Vondre Campbell

The skinny: The Minnesota linebacker has a very impressive physique with long arms, muscular legs and a tapered chest. Did I mention he has impressive quick-twitch characteristics as well? On tape, Campbell doesn't make as many plays as you would like and his instincts are very average, but NFL teams love traits and want a roster full of athletes who can help on special teams, so Campbell will probably be a fourth- or fifth-rounder, which is higher than his tape might dictate.
Scout: Navy's Keenan Reynolds not an NFL RB, might be WR - NFL.com

I like this kid and have thrown his name out there but I did not want to come off as a homer for my gophers. This kid is all about upside and the fact he is just learning the position.

Re: 2016 NFL Draft Prospect Thread ...............

Entering the week, I expected Massachusetts wide receiver Tajae Sharpe to stand out at the best player at his position, but that distinction has belonged to Temple's Robby Anderson. A very smooth athlete, he has the best release off the line of scrimmage of any pass-catcher in this all-star game and has been a consistent plucker, using quick hands to snare away from his body. Anderson is lean-muscled and lacks ideal bulk to be physical at the catch point, but his impressive adjustment skills have been on display.

Two other wide receiver prospects who have helped themselves this week: Ole Miss' Cody Core and Notre Dame's Chris Brown. Core used his large hands (10 3/8-inches) and focus to finish several off-target and contested throws and has been the best deep threat of the week. Brown is very lean and doesn't have any physical qualities that necessarily separate himself from other targets, but he is consistent in everything he does, including his routes, hands and blocking. And quarterbacks and coaches pay attention to that consistency, which will help build trust.

Big Canadian Is The Talk Of E-W Prospects

Very few football fans have heard of Manitoba’s (Canada) defensive end Ebuka Onyemata. The 6-foot-4, 300 pound defensive lineman is quickly making a name for himself, even if you can’t pronounce it.

Onyemata has been dominant in the first two days of practice, and that’s with him mostly lining up at defensive end, a position where he is likely being misused. Onyemata is at best a 5-technique, and can certainly play on the inside in a 4-3 scheme.

NFL Scouts have been scrambling trying to find information on the big man from north of the border.

“There have been several scouts that have contacted me trying to find out more about this guy,” Montreal Alouettes College Scouting Director Russ Lande said. “He’s a fantastic player and he isn’t being utilized properly in this game. He should be playing inside and if he somehow does slip through the cracks, he would be the No. 1 pick in our draft.”

There were six NFL scouts sharing an interview with the Canadian Goliath, something that’s rarely ever seen

Cowser in a (pass) rush for Shrine Game spotlight

Cowser is unsure if he will remain a defensive end once he's on an NFL roster or if he will be switched to outside linebacker. His 3.99 grade point average as an undergrad belies his ability to learn and be really good with change, which in this case would give him the chance to roam in more space.

He has trained at Traction Sports Performance in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, impressing others with his speed. He hopes to be timed at a high-4.5 or low-4.6 seconds in the 40-yard dash while "looking to run fast," he says - faster than others may anticipate. The disruptive pass rusher also is seeking the high 20s with his bench press reps.

Quote:

Michael Caputo, S, Wisconsin
Height: 6-1. Weight: 212.
Projected 40 Time: 4.75.
Projected Round (2016): 6-FA.
1/16/16: In 2015, Caputo totaled 65 tackles with eight passes broken up and two interceptions. He was a solid defender for the Badgers.

8/17/15: Caputo is a good run-stuffing safety for the Big Ten, but his pass-coverage skills may not be a great fit for the NFL. In 2014, he had 106 tackles with an interception and six passes broken up. Caputo recorded 63 tackles and three passes batted the previous season.

Quote:

Josh Ferguson*, RB, Illinois
Height: 5-10. Weight: 200.
Projected 40 Time: 4.49.
Projected Round (2016): 3-4.
1/9/16: Ferguson is fast, athletic back who has made a favorable impression on NFL evaluators. He was banged up with a shoulder injury in 2015 and missed a number of games, but still averaged 5.5 yards per carry for 708 yards and three touchdowns. The senior also had 38 receptions for 280 yards and two scores.

Ferguson showed real receiving skills when he hauled in 50 passes as a junior and a sophomore. Sources like his ability to contribute to the passing game and special teams.

2016 Shrine Game: Five prospects who created buzz among NFL scouts

Javon Hargrave, DT, South Carolina State (6-2, 315)

we talked about him

Graham Glasgow, C/OG, Michigan (6-6, 310)
Glasgow showed a quick snap-and-step first move with the body control and base to hold his ground in pass protection. As a run blocker, he showed range up and down the line of scrimmage, breaking down on the move and using his hands to overwhelm defenders. Glasgow has terrific awareness to advance his eyes to the second level, finding his next victim to peel, stack and create running room between the hashes. His draft arrow is definitely pointing north.

Victor Ochi, DE/OLB, Stony Brook (6-1, 244)
Think Jr here

Dean Lowry, DE, Northwestern (6-6, 295)
Blur collar guy

De'Vondre Campbell, LB, Minnesota (6-4, 234)
We talked about him. inconsistent diagnose skills during live game action will be the key to whether or not Campbell is a future NFL starter or a simply a back-up.

Ten other prospects who created buzz this week:
Robby Anderson, WR, Temple (6-3, 180) - reliable receiver, speed?
Darion Griswold, TE, Arkansas State (6-4, 253)
Brandon Shell, OT, South Carolina (6-6, 325)
Fahn Cooper, OT, Ole Miss (6-5, 304) functional experience at LT and RT
Chase Farris, OG, Ohio State (6-4, 306)
Ebuka Onyemata, DE, Manitoba (6-3, 304)- talked about him
Trevon Coley, DT, Florida Atlantic (6-1, 307) - see Javon Hargrave
Antwione Williams, LB, Georgia Southern (6-3, 247) - worth keeping an eye on
Joe Bolden, LB, Michigan (6-2, 239) - Mr nasty

Leshaun Sims, CB, Southern Utah (6-0, 203)
Now I have been waiting for this kids name to pop up. I really like his game. he is not a finished product and this is his chance to show what he can do. I think he will hold his own. We shall see. He may end up at the senior bowl. right now he is a day 3 diamond in the ruff with what appears to have huge upside. Lets see what the field drills bring. he should be one of the better CB/S time wise when all is said and done. Solid instinct are already there he just need some buffing and polishing on the finer things. ok maybe a tad bit more. Ranked in the area of 30 by most of the media do not be surprised if you hear his name called on draft day.

2016 Shrine Game: Five prospects who created buzz among NFL scouts - CBSSports.com

I want to add

3. Devon Cajuste, WR/TE, Stanford: This large receiver (6-foot-4, 227 pounds) wasn't utilized as much as he could have been by the Cardinal this year -- partially because they needed to feed Christian McCaffrey as much as possible. But when given the chance to shine, Cajuste did just that; he made five catches for 125 yards and a touchdown against Notre Dame. Much like last year's second-round pick, Devin Funchess, Cajuste is destined for the Y-spot in an NFL offense, utilizing his height and hands over the middle and in the red zone. A big week in St. Pete, along with strong workouts at the NFL Scouting Combine, could cement a top-100 draft grade.

5. Paul McRoberts, WR, Southeast Missouri State: Another exceptional talent at the FCS level, McRoberts (6-3, 197) displays quickness off the line and excellent hands and concentration to high point passes. He's scored nine times in each of the last three seasons, catching the attention of NFL scouts. McRoberts and similarly sized UMass receiver Tajae Sharpe will have their hands full with talented cornerbacks such as Brian Poole (Florida) and D.J. White (Georgia Tech) during practice, so they'll get a chance to prove their ability to be physical on short routes and gain separation downfield.

10. Aaron Wallace, LB, UCLA: Heading into his senior season, the son of long-time NFL linebacker Aaron Wallace, Sr. had started just two games for the Bruins. But with the Bruins suffering injuries at the position, including the loss of star defender Myles Jack, Wallace found himself on the first team. He stepped up his game with 12.5 tackles for loss and seven sacks, looking the part of a Sam 'backer able to play the edge with strength and track down the ball in the pocket. Wallace's lack of playing time on defense doesn't give scouts much film to review, so they'll take full advantage of a week's worth of access to his talent.

Illinois WR Geronimo Allison is having a strong week of practice at the East-West Shrine game, and is one of the top 2016 NFL Draft sleepers…

As we approach the 2016 NFL Draft and postseason festivities are underway, it’s time we start taking a look at guys that could be flying under the radar a little bit.

Of course, there are always reasons for them going unnoticed at times…Illinois WR Geronimo Allison, a former transfer from Iowa Community College, is a player that I’m really excited about. Listed at 6-4, 200 pounds, Allison has a lanky frame, good deep speed, and a developing ability to create separation coupled with an already strong ability to make ridiculous catches.

Darion Griswold TE Arkansas State 6034 253 4.79 - I am not as enamored with him as many but he does have a solid skill set.

Chris Shanafelt of NFLDraftBible.com Discusses Darion Griswold at East-West Shrine Game

Darion Griswold has caught the attention of the NFL world.

Already on the radar of scouts, the former Arkansas State tight end has elevated his game in front of NFL scouts at the Shrine Game practices this week in St. Petersburg, Florida.

“I think he is a guy who has shown he can do it all and that is what the NFL wants from a tight end,’’ said Chris Shanafelt of NFLDraftBible.com. “To be honest he was not someone I knew a lot about coming into this week but he has caught a lot of attention.

“To me the thing that has stood out was his blocking and the NFL wants tight ends who can block. Most of the ones who play can block. There are some who are just receivers but all of the really good ones like Rob Gronkowski and Antonio Gates, they are blockers.”

Shanafelt, who also has a radio show in Chicago, said Griswold showed good hands and good feet during the week of camp.

“The Shrine game is usually for those guys who will be drafted on the third day,’’ he said. “I would say Darion has put himself in a position where he will be drafted. I think he has a good chance to go in the late rounds. Now he needs to have a good Pro Day and a combine.”

Warming up to
Round 4? Charles Tapper, EDGE/DL, Oklahoma 6021 282 4.87
smart and dependable, with above average athleticism. Not edge burner but collapse, maintains gap integrity and understands the importance of setting an edge. Flexibility for a DL rotation is huge in a 43.

a couple of new names to throw out there 7/UDFA types

Terrell Lathan DE TCU 6035 280 4.82- want to talk wing span? I really just started digging into him. Not a sack master but he knows containment and setting the edge

Peter Mortell P Minnesota 6012 195 4.92 - Pulling a homer here.
74 punts- 2 TB-30 inside 20- 17 fair caught. overall average - 43.4 ypp.
Nothing phases him gets the kick of under rush pressure. The kid can do it all manipulate distance, direction & spin on punts. He may be an part of the answer for our cap issues. Ok JP you got me looking at Punters.

Joshua Perkins TE/HB Washington 6031 226 4.68 - athleticism sure, soft hands too, but to small for TE and not fast enough for WR needs a niches on special teams

I like what I'm reading about this guy. This team seems to draft lineman that can line up in more than one position so I might just keep a look out for any updates on him from now under May. Sounds like a good 3-4 round pick since this team needs better lineman
