OK, many may shoot this down, but in the spirit of "Ambush," I traded with Cleveland this years and next's #1 to move up to #2 overall; many other little trades here and there. GO BIG or go home! MAKE IT HAPPEN, LOOMIS!
Your Picks:
Round 1 Pick 2 (CLE): Joey Bosa, DE/OLB, Ohio State (A+)
Round 2 Pick 25 (PITT): Tyler Matakevich, OLB/ILB, Temple (B)
Round 3 Pick 15: Scooby Wright, ILB, Arizona (B+)
Round 3 Pick 25 (PITT): Bryce Williams, TE, East Carolina (B-)
Round 4 Pick 14: Sheldon Day, DT, Notre Dame (A-)
Round 4 Pick 25 (PITT): Zack Sanchez, CB, Oklahoma (A+)
Round 5 Pick 13: Roberto Aguayo, K, Florida State (A)
Round 5 Pick 21 (MINN): Avery Young, OT, Auburn (A-)
Round 6 Pick 5 (MINN): Braxton Miller, WR, Ohio State (A+)
Round 7 Pick 16: Derek Watt, FB, Wisconsin (B)

Not for me
Too many holes need filling to be giving up next years 1. We will still be rebuilding then

Appeciate your enthusiasm, but what all did you trade to get these draft picks...nevermind...

You sure like the Big 10...

Trust me when I say this, you don't want Zack Sanchez of Oklahoma. I'm proud to say I'm a Sooner but he's not NFL ready. Gives up too many big plays.

Kevin Dodd Draft Profile

He was impressive on Clemson's run; he's one of the reasons I took Lawson off my board; he'll probably go higher than he should, but he's a gamer...

Emmanuel Ogbah Draft Profile

An even slower, stiffer version of Cam Jordan; I'd pass...

Vernon Butler Draft Profile

Really like this guy, my favorite of the three you have; if he's there in Round 3 and we haven't signed someone like Damon Harrison, I'd love to add him to our stabile of defensive linemen...

I disagree on Ogbah. Dude played in the Spread Big 12 and has had double digit sacks both seasons as a starter. Also remember Revis supposedly had stiff hips coming out of Pitt. How are those hips working now? My point is this, production is production.

Well, would you say Rob Ryan was the answer to implementing and running the defense?

Think most people on this site would agree as I've said that Payton is Bill Walsh reincarnate...

...but when it comes to defense, there's no potato to go with the steak...

Let me ask you'this, where was this criticism in 2013 when The Saints Finished with the #4 ranked defense in all of football? Rob Ryan didn't get dumb overnight but he did lose some of his best players. Remember in 2013 we ran a 3 Safety Group with Vaccaro, Harper and Jenkins. We got rid of both Harper and Jenkins for Byrd and Bush and now we're paying a steep price. Like I said when evaluating talent, don't overlook production. When had a Good Defense and took it apart. If we think Dennis Allen will get super results himself, we are surely mistaken.

I have beaten that Rob Ryan issue to death. Started before the ink dried on the contract. So moving on

FA? 1 Byrd does not equal a Harper and a Jenkins. The saints not getting a SS to maximize that investment still amazes me. Kenny was never and probably will never be that SS.

In regards to FA, as in college, you have to the system they came out of, the players they played with and the division they played in. In Byrds case he played in the AFC East which had more starting QB turnover than probably any division in the NFL. Add in the NFL driven media over hype and the numbers he posted makes one wonder if any true scouting was done or was the was the scouting done on the toilet reading ESPN the magazine. Doubling up on ones stinky vapor intake is not the smartest move. Once i saw those contract numbers I was not a fan at all.

Back to the round peg square hole issue in the draft.

My #1 draft concern is the Spread offensive and defensive players.

Your right looking good and yet being fundamentally unsound at the college level is a warning sign IMO. The kid just does not get it or there is some serious work to do with kid before you even start trying to refine their game for the pro level.

Upside, hype, bag full of dreams and long extended toilet breaks do not always work out. Especially when you over look the system and the the conferences they played in.

The third safety was essentially that fast outside linebacker that could cover...Now who made that decision to get away from that made this team dumb overnight...whoever signed off or advocated for the Byrd signing (which many Buffalo fans laughed upon his FA signing) knowing his fragility, made this team dumb overnight...

And, as a matter of record, several here did voice concerns when Ryan was hired and after Ryan's first season...

Build the line.

Jairus is not going to shut everything down on the back end. I refuse to make a judgment call on him until I see a decent pass rush & a decent answer at corner opposite Breaux or a healthy Lewis.

Correct. And the Third Safety was Harper. He was used exclusively in a LB spot, Kenny mid range and Jenkins deep. The point is, he knew what he was doing with supposedly the wrong personnel. All I'm saying is, don't expect Filet Mignon when you still have hamburger.

Reality at Safety...

Raphael Bush has been the backup Free Safety; he's set to be a Unrestricted Free Agent at 29 years of age; Bush has missed 21 of the last 32 games going back to 2013...

Vinnie Sunseri played in nine games as a reserve in 2014 before being placed on injured reserve; this past season, the 2015 season, Sunseri was placed on waivers after a preseason game knee injury, cleared waivers, and placed on IR; Sunseri has played as a reserve in nine (9) of a possible (32) regular season games...

Jairus Byrd, since being signed as a Saint, has started in sixteen (16) of a possible thirty-two (32) regular season games, with one (1) other appearance; his production is limited to just one (1) interception, two (2) forced fumbles while recovering just one (1) fumble...

Jamarca Sanford is thirty (30) years of age and is set to be an unrestricted free agent...

That leaves Kenny Vaccaro - mixed bag and all...

I'm not saying we don't have holes, priorities on this team, but now y'all can see why my mock draft has two (2) safeties...

R1, S12 (Pick 12) WR LaQuon Treadwell, Ole Miss; Height: 6' 2"; Weight: 210 lbs.

R2, S16 (Pick 48) FS Darian Thompson, Boise St; Height: 6' 2"; Weight: 210 lbs.

R3, S15 (Pick 79) SS Miles Killebrew, Southern Utah; Height: 6’ 2”, Weight: 223 lbs.

R4, S14 (Pick 110*) OG Joe Dahl, Washington St; Height: 6' 5"; Weight: 310 lbs.

R5, S13 (Pick 141*) QB Kevin Hogan, Stanford; Height: 6' 4"; Weight: 218 lbs.

R6, S12 (Pick 172*) TRADED (This pick with 2015 Sixth Round Pick traded for DB Damian Swann)

R7, S16 (Pick 208*) LB Nick Kwiatkoski, West Virginia; Height: 6' 2"; Weight: 236 lbs.

I read up on him a little bit after asking and I remember him now. I don't know... He could have his head on straight now. Sometimes it works out like Tyrann Mathieu or Janoris Jenkins. I'm sure we'll find out what kind of impression he's making on coaches and GM's as this process plays out.

I'm gonna be doing my assessments early and get it all in before the sb.

First I will start with guards. Then I will move over to DT, and then TE and WR. Since those are our major needs.

WillSaints81 01-26-2016 10:22 PM

Re: 2016 NFL Draft Prospect Thread ...............

Guards
1.
He appears to be the only option for far for round 1. I had him originally second but found out Vadal Alexander was also a guard and tackle. He looks good against Auburn here and got better as the game went on against LA Tech.

2.
Martin looks to be second round. He looked good here.

3.
He can be gotten in the second round or third. If we miss out on Whitehair and Martin it might be best to go after Peat's former teammate.

4.
Second rounder here but there were things I didn't like. Too often he appeared lost at times. And factor in he is playing a SEC team and Duke in these highlights. Developing? But can we afford that?

5.
He's decent at run blocking but pass blocking. I didn't like much here. And he was awful against Michigan State, the better of the three schools in these highlights.

Draft
Round 1-Whitehair
Round 2-Martin
Round 2-Garnett(I say round 2 because he could be gone in round 3)

Do not draft
Round 2-Turner
Round 3-Drango

Seattle from what I hear may be looking for a guard so this is something to keep an eye on. If we want Whitehair, better be staying ahead of Seattle in the draft. Oakland could be a contender for Garnett, but what round they get him between 2 and 3 is undecided.

Still my favorite all around OG to date is

2/3 Sebastian Tretola, ROG, Arkansas 6045 334 5.28

lets talk some later round OG also to keep an eye out for

Round 5/6
Connor McGovern, OG, Missouri 6042 305 5.02
He's best in phone booth, nimble and has played both OT positions to prove it. So zone blocking is covered. He is a brute to boot so power run game looks good. Pass blocking is fundamentally sound just needs some coaching at OG. As I pointed the kid jumped around the OL so give him a home and see what happens, oh he played OC in high school

2/FA??? Jonah Austin, G/OT, Nicholls State 6052 330 5.35
I do not know much about this former LSU guard but he was stuck behind some mighty good talent at LSU. get back to you on him soon

Plenty of good guards that you don't have to reach with a first or second round pick...

2016 Game Rosters : The Game : Senior Bowl

OG Christian Westerman, Arizona St; Height: 6' 4"; Weight: 300 lbs.; Round 3 Target

OG Joe Dahl, Washington St; Height: 6' 5"; Weight: 310 lbs.; Round 4Target*

OG Connor McGovern, Mizzou; Height: 6' 4"; Weight: 300 lbs.; Round 4 Target

*Currently, Saints have no Round 6 pick...

Re: 2016 NFL Draft Prospect Thread ...............

More guards for third round or later

1.Sebastian Tretola vs Kansas State (2015) | Draft Breakdown

2.Denver Kirkland vs Kansas State (2015) | Draft Breakdown

The Arkansas guards in these clips looked solid with few mistakes. Good pushes. Tretola is ranked early fourth range but I expect him to move up. Kirkland is mid fifth round and might move up to early fourth.

3.Jordan Walsh vs Wisconsin (2015) | Draft Breakdown
Jordan Walsh vs Pittsburgh (2015) | Draft Breakdown
Jordan Walsh vs Michigan State (2015) | Draft Breakdown

I was not able to see the last one for some reason, computer would not load the video up. I was about to see it and it's doing it again. But he's 12th ranked as of last ranking(6th among the ones I'm reviewing and I have him 3rd) but he gave his qb time to throw the ball, was great at even run blocking. There was a lot I liked here. I think there were some miscues(very few) but other than that he looked solid here pushing around defenders. As of now he's looking to be early 7th.

4.Graham Glasgow vs Maryland (2015) | Draft Breakdown
Graham Glasgow vs Utah (2015) | Draft Breakdown
Graham Glasgow vs Michigan State (2014) | Draft Breakdown

And the third one again, vs the same team, I could not get completely loaded up. Glasgow has another talent. He can play center and he did it well against Utah. Not as good as the top 3 but the best of the rest. Early sixth round.

5.Christian Westerman vs Texas A&M (2015) | Draft Breakdown
Christian Westerman vs USC (2015) | Draft Breakdown

Just a little less than Glasgow. Late fourth ranking.

6.Joe Dahl vs Oregon (2015) | Draft Breakdown
Joe Dahl vs Stanford (2015) | Draft Breakdown
Joe Dahl vs Rutgers (2015) | Draft Breakdown

Someone on here thinks he should go fourth? Nope, he's ranked in the 7th round and he too often did I see his runningbacks run into him, a problem expressed on here with our RBs, but also he blocked way too close to the QB, getting a good block but not pushing and that's the last thing Brees needs. Also he's played LT in this clips, not LG. But I brought him up because I saw him mentioned on here.

7.Parker Ehinger vs Temple (2015) | Draft Breakdown

This was the only one I saw, didn't see the other ones. The team he plays for is the problem to me. Not a big BCS school but used to be and gets the attention in a way of one which makes the values even worse. He was as good as the previous two or three mentioned but not top four. Late sixth.

I would be wary of drafting Dahl unless he learns to push more but he's a tackle basically. I did not include Kyle Friend because he's mainly a center. And Reese Ohdlambo is injured. Something we do not need to take on given our track record.

All of them are draftable, and better than Turner and Drango.

Draft
Round 3-Tretola
Round 4-Kirkland
Round 6-Glasgow
Round 6-Walsh
Could Draft but prefferably not
Round 3-Westerman
Round 6-Ehinger
Round 7-Dahl

Do Not Draft
No one undraftable here.

We could actually wait on guard and not get one early. Maybe we should get two?

DTs

These are just for first round

1.
With all the off the field problems he really did look the best here. And I expect him to move up before the draft, meaning our chances of getting him are 50/50

2. Jarran Reed vs Georgia (2015) | Draft Breakdown

Didn't like the first game too much but he looked more relevant against UGA. He should be available when we pick.

3.
He's late first but I was not all that impressed. But he has room to grow because he tried to make plays but he was on a team with other talented players on that defense.

4.
Not impressed at all, too often he was contained by olinemen. And letting teams like WVU, Oklahoma do that does not help at all. I saw the other three able to at least get to the qb more.

Draft
Round 1-Nkemdiche
Round 1-Reed
Round 1-Clark
Do Not Draft
Round 1-Billings
