never damage? crap. The odds of returning any where near 100% is a crap shoot. Round 2?
As if the gods have not been nice to Darron Lee as it is already. Both top LB are hurt his stock sky rockets. Now Smith has worse case possible? Damn the kid must be living right. The gods are on his side. The football gods have a sick sense of humor and could be setting this up for a big laugh when all is said and done. Lee is a solid prospect. Worth a round 1/2 grade without a doubt. Out of desperation for a WLB would take Lee at 12? |
Re: 2016 NFL Draft Prospect Thread ...............
C.J. Prosise RB/WR/KR Notre Dame 6004 220
Hands 8 1/2 Arms 32 1/8 40 4.48 10 1.57 Vertical 35.5 Broad 121.0 Answered the huge question I had about him 40 4.48 but the dam hands issue at 8 1/2 comes up. But I still like the kid. Slot WR learning RB so getting hit was never an issue. Plus a return guy to boot. A mid round option for sure. His pass protection is a work in progress but he is more than willing to stick his hat in there so..fill 2 maybe 3 roster spots with one pick and enough upside at all three to give you a pretty good case of the warm fuzzies. This is the type of player that can clear areas in the secondary for WRs and exploit areas WRs have cleared. He knows how to read and adjust pass routes at the second level probably better than any of the backs in the draft. Screens are a work in progress. That is Ezekiel Elliott and Kenneth Dixons specialty. Like Elliott, you are not going to arm tackle or simply drag him down. Plus was recruited as a safety out of high school. He has to learn not to deliver the blow every time he gets tackled. I think that is the left over mind set of being a safety lol. not a bad trait to have when manged properly. I have seen David Johnson comparisons but I am not going there. David is not the receiver CJ is and CJ is not the runner David is. Think another ND guy, Theo Riddick Lions. Just a bit taller and a good bit faster. I liken him to Pierre Thomas in running style. He has that short and quick jump cut skill set inside the tackles that can not be taught. Quick cutting decisive runner. SP loves chess piece potential and CJ could become Drews 2nd, 3rd, or 4th option on any given play that can burn you. A player teams must account for whenever he is on the field. The saints offense has been missing this kind of effect on defense for a few years now. This would be a mid round selection (3/4) that would see the field early and often. Plus if the Spiller experiment continues to fail, he could be his replacement in 2017. Out with one CJ in with another and save about 2 million in cap space too boot. I think I found my 4th round pick maybe 3rd? Kenyan Drake is still in the mix. 4.44 forty but I like the slot WR skill set and mentality CJ would bring to the position. |

C.J. Prosise jack of all trades, master of none fits so perfect in Payton's offense. Him or Lasco (Cal) seem like the prototype 3rd down back in this draft.
IMO I hope they don't go WR or RB until round 4 |

then there is this Drew Brees, who has very big mitts, fumbles at almost the same rate as Tony Romo. Russell Wilson, another guy with very big hands (10 1/4), has fumbled at a much higher rate than Alex Smith (9 3/8 inches) has over the past three seasons. Why a quarterback's hand size matters to the NFL | FOX Sports so you decide I guess. media drama for ratings in my book for the most part. It is valid but only to a point. I look at Conner Cook and hand size can be an issue in bad weather but I also think the fact he is a Michigan kid he is use to it. Cook in Cleveland in December on the shores of lake Erie makes more sense to me than any QB in the draft. Chicago or any of the northern divisions makes sense to me. |

Re: 2016 NFL Draft Prospect Thread ...............
To me any team that drafted a QB in round one this year is making a huge mistake. It makes sense to grab a STUD in round one and then get your possible bust QB in the 2nd so it doesn't set you back as much when that QB is out of the league in a couple years. I guess I could see Wientz going in the first, but Goff or anyone else ... NO.

How the top offensive linemen fared on Friday at the NFL combine
(excerpt) Noteworthy: Jason Spriggs (6-6, 301) of Indiana, the No. 6 tackle on CBS' rankings, opened some eyes on Friday. Spriggs ran a 4.94 in the 40, put up 31 bench press reps, had a broad jump of 115 inches, a 3-cone drill time of 7.7 seconds, and a 20-yard shuttle time of 4.44. Spriggs was listed as the top offensive line standout of the day by Pro Football Focus. Know everyone is hung up on Left Guard right now; remember though, Carl Nicks was a offensive tackle and did all right as a left guard... There were some very good hand, smooth route run and able to track the ball well by some WR's yesterday. 3 or 4 looked as good as Treadwell. A few TE's looked good also. There were 2 qb.'s that looked good. I'm finally getting good looks at a few players I think might take the O to a higher level it is now.

Shaq Lawson answered a few questions I had about the kid and is back on my radar at 12. I am glad he participated in linebacker drills. He looked much better than I thought he would. I do like his ability to set the edge and his run defense is solid. not great but solid. How many snaps can he handle at 270 is my question right now. He does wear down by the fourth so an active rotation would be needed to keep him fresh. IMO.

Re: 2016 NFL Draft Prospect Thread ...............
Jalen Ramsey is the big prize in this draft IMO still but since he will be off the board. Safeties that know how to tackle and have solid coverage skill deep, in the slot and the ability to jump outside are hard to find.
So I am looking for a FS that reads a defense, fills and hits like a SS and has solid coverage skill to be an option as a CB. So lets look at boobie prizes at FS/SS/CB position can be had on day 2 and 3 R3 - Sean Davis - one of my favs and vastly under rated as a S R5 - James Bradberry - A transition to S might be just what the Dr orders for this kid R6/UDFA Mike Jordan - Still on my flying under radar prospects to keep an eye on. not sure a transition to S would be needed. I really like what saw and heard from the East-West Shrine game. why he did not go to the combine is beyond me. Now i have to wait till march 24 and his pro day to see if there is a reason why. 2016 pro days schedule - NFL.com On a side note, Javon Hargrave still looking impressive Darrin Lee a player at 12? not sure if I want to go there but will SP? Ok who is this kid? Stephen Weatherly OLB Vanderbilt 6’043″ 267 4.61/40, 23 reps, arms 34 1/2″, arms hands 10+” Vandy always has some interesting smart players every year. 7/UDFA priority project? gotta learn more |
Re: 2016 NFL Draft Prospect Thread ...............
Combine/ProDay Break Mock Draft...
Yeah, my draft really hinges if Treadwell is there at No. 12 which is a wildcard right now because most team GMs will be afraid to spend a Top 10 pick on a WR that's not posting blazing 40 yd times or eye-popping vertical/broad jumps... It is because of those reasons, I expect Treadwell to be there in the mid-teens and why we should snatch him up without hesistation... Again, you gotta take Treadwell is he's there over remaining defensive linemen who I feel would be a reach with Bama's Jarran Reed, Clemson's Kevin Dodd or UCLA's Myles Jack being the exceptions... R1, S12 (Pick 12) WR Laquon Treadwell, Mississippi; Height: 6' 2"; Weight: 210 lbs. R2, S16 (Pick 47) DE Bronson Kaufusi, Brigham Young; Height: 6’ 6”, Weight: 285 lbs. R3, S15 (Pick 78) TE Tyler Higbee, Western Kentucky; Height: 6' 6"; Weight: 249 lbs. R4, S14 (Pick 112*) OG Connor McGovern, Missouri; Height: 6’ 4”, Weight: 306 lbs. R5, S13 (Pick 150*) FS T.J.
