I understand they want to look at the guys in different formations to find the best fit... But, I've got to wonder if one series per day is enough to evaluate a player... I firmly support competition, but you've got to really see some reps to know what you have... And I'll offer this - Stephone Anthony was a beast his rookie season at the MIKE for the Saints; he should get some serious reps there again with Mike Nolan now on the team... Nolan has a proven track record with front sevens and defenses and I believe D.A. will need to swallow his ego a bit and give Nolan (and Nielsen) room to get the front seven fixed... |

...point of fact, proper condition for the minimizing of injuries can only be achieved through extended repetition of exercise, practice... ...and then there's a younger player who can only improve at his skill position through reps, which is what I was trying to highlight... |

It took him a year or two before the light came on. I wouldn't be surprised if the Saints brass keep as many as 7, 8 linebackers.
Stephone must bring it this season that is for sure. He is either gonna turn a corner and become a Derrick Johnson or Bruce Carter...so far it's been the latter. "Can't wait until training camp starts!" ... |
