He led the team in total turnovers. You must remember that players are often limited by the play around them. We lost SIX CB's last year to injury. That has to affect the entire secondary.

If used to his strengths and with a supporting cast he may be that impact player. As for the two safeties drafted the last two years ... both are very talented and hard to pass up at that point especially with the more and more commonly utilized three safety sets.

Re: 2017 New Orleans Saints: Roster Outlook
See I've always been under the impression that Vaccaro's role as nickel CB/moneybacker was born out of us not having good CB depth or LB's who can cover. If our CB's stay healthy and we can actually put a legitimate nickel CB on the field, and our revamped LB corp can help in pass defense... Will Vaccaro thrive as a more traditional safety or will his weaknesses be exposed?

Re: 2017 New Orleans Saints: Roster Outlook
Vaccaro is good. Our defense has largely been a product of underwhelming pass rush and running out of depth at certain positions.
You may see him miss a play and not realize that the reason he's out of position is because he's feeling the pressure of trying to do not only his job but everyone else's. With the talent we're acquiring now, and hopefully the improved pass rush, you could see a much better version of KV this year. Just my two. |

Re: 2017 New Orleans Saints: Roster Outlook
I should clarify what I mean when I question if his weaknesses will be exposed. He's made a pretty good impact playing in the box, but the talk out of minicamp was that we're going to disguise coverages a lot more now that we have a good, versatile group of safeties. Vaccaro will be asked to play in a deeper zone more often because it's unexpected. That's never been his strong suit. I'm not saying he can't do it... Maybe he'll thrive. We won't know until it happens.

Kenny as a true safety?
he has not developed into that roll yet and probably never will live up to first round pick value. Kenny as a chess piece to move around and play a LB/S roll? This is his specialty and he is one of the better ones in the NFL. Just do not over pay the toy in 2018. But Rob Roy had his dream and Pro Bowl SS Malcolm Jenkins was not part of that dream. So two first round picks spent on one position. Bit costly for a S/LB Rob Ryan was the biggest mistake of the Sean Payton Era |
