Dream scenario - Browns trade pick 12 to Pats for Jimmy G. Pats trade pick 12 to us for Cooks. Giving us back to back picks. Imagine if they have a handful of guys all rated about the same. We take the guy we really want at 11 then entertain offers for pick 12. Aaaaaahhhh lol I'm getting too far ahead of myself here. Like I said, dream scenario.

I do believe this makes sense. Browns lol! They are trying to buy a team. Not going to work out at all. Been tried before but please do it. Very entertaining.

26 picks in the next two drafts

Just spent a fortune of two guards and just claimed Marcus Martin off waivers

Now if they can just avoid drafting another Manziel, Richardson, Taylor, Gilbert,Weedon,Mingo

Considering the fact that only 30% of draftees ever become starters that means that they will most likely get eight possible starters out of those picks. Given a team only has a 53 man roster either half the current roster would need to be cut or a large percentage of those picks will be wasted. Picks do not transfer to success.

Really interesting how all these major moves are interconnected. Browns, Pats, Us. Maybe another team or two before all is said and done. And everyone thinks they are getting the best deal when we all know somebody is going to draw the shortest straw.

Re: Brandin Cooks Trade Talks

Cooks has 100% EVERYTHING YOU WANT IN A WR!
  • SUPER ROUTE RUNNING ABILITY WHO DEFENSES HAVE TO DOUBLE TEAM AND RESPECT WHERE HE LINES UP
  • UNBELIEVABLE SPEED - 2 YARDS AND NOBODY IS CATCHING HIM
  • OUTSTANDING HANDS WITH TOTAL BODY CONTROL WHO NEVER TAKES HIS EYES OFF THE BALL
  • STAYS HEALTHY BECAUSE HE IS STRONG AS A ROCK
  • TERRIFIC JUMPING ABILITY ON HIGH THROWS AND USUALLY COMES DOWN WITH THE FREAKING BALL
HE IS A SUPERSTAR ON THE SAINTS OFFENSE.
Everything you wanted IN a WR for YEARS. He will be missed. We better get equal talent of NO FREAKING TRADE.
The only problems with him is he goes down a little easy. Still... Watch the freaking video.

HE WILL NOT BE EASILY REPLACED.

I'm not saying he'll be easily replaced. But I think if a trade is made for defensive help, be it a quality starter or a high draft pick to get a quality starter, then he won't be needed as much.

We can pull videos on Graham, PT, Reggie, Robinson and on and on. The offense always survives and does fine.

Drew Brees has proven that he can take an average receiver and make him look like a superstar.

If Cooks stays, great. If he is traded for someone that will immediately help, then great.

Pound the rock with Ingram and who ever, and use the PA to open up Thomas and Snead. Use Ginn or Tommylee the Flea to open up the top.

I don't see the offense sputtering because we lost a WR. Even one as good as Cooks.

Recent update ....Cooks is due a roster bonus on tomorrow.

Hearing today the Saints make the decision on what they will do with B. Cooks. Pats and Titans maybe others in play.

Garoppolo to Browns = 12th - Cooks.

This is the only scenario I see possible.

Or how the Saints used to pick. You are always so hung up on the distant past while ignoring the solid drafts of the past two seasons. There are glass half full people, glass half empty people, and then there are those that look back to when the glass was empty.

;)

Which two solid drafts? Please tell me the players you're referring to?

I think last years draft has looked very positive. Its too early to tell yet but there has promise from Rankins,Thomas and Onyemata have shown plnty of flashes of potential. Bell needs to step it up a bit but playing in that backfield its hard to blame him too much

MT is a super star. Rankins had 4 sacks in just about half a season, hope that continues.

Maybe the Titans deal was worse. Nobody knows what was offered. Could well have been them wanting Cooks + 2 for 18.

Who knows what the offer is.

Are we getting the Pats 3rd rounder or the Panthers 3rd they have i wonder

Neither a compensatory 3rd

Yeah saw that after

Think they should have got at least the NE 3rd

But its a rid of a man that was starting to kick up a stink snd did t want to be in NO anymore

Re: Brandin Cooks Trade Talks

The Pats deal gave us two picks, but cost us two picks, but did yield an add'l first round pick and improved our fourth round pick...

The Titans deal would've moved us up six spots and gave us one high third round pick...

The Eagles deal offered us a Safety we let walk and a third and fourth round pick...

One lesson I hope Payton/Loomis take for this is when you reach for a player with two picks...

A) You better make it count; with Cooks, they did; with Jon Jenkins, they whiffed; with Vonn Bell, David Onyemata, jury's still out.

B) Unless you keep the player under contract for their career, you never get back their full value to acquire them.

Have to question Loomis' inability to develop a trade market where other GMs seem to thrive...

Well Well Well, it seems all this "the market sets the price" BS was untrue all along, the titans offered a higher pick and Payton gave them the middle finger and made the best team in the league even better.

lee909 03-14-2017 02:12 AM

Re: Brandin Cooks Trade Talks

In s draft this deep giving up 1 for 1 first rounders and gaining a third wasnt a better offer.

The teams needs plenty of help snd two firsts in better than t and a third. There will still be high class talent at 11 and at 32 compared to 90 odd

That deal had us trading away #11 and cooks just to move up to 5 is all.

The better deal is NE. We get to keep #11 and get a first rounder.

+1. I'd rather have 11 and 32 than just 5. An extra 3rd without having to give up our 4th makes it a difficult call, but I still rather the NE offer.

My bad, I thought it said the Titans offered us their 5th and a second round pick. Should have that early morning coffee before posting next time lol

You can't compare the market between now and 2013. You can only get what the current market demands. The only other option would have been to keep a disgruntled Cooks. If that was all NE was willing to give then no GM in history could have gotten more. That's how economics work.
