If there was a way we could get multiple picks, or manage to keep our 11th and get the titans 5th pick I'd be all for it. Two 1st rounders in a defensive heavy draft could be huge for us.

Not hope...pray ;) If we trade Cooks and Snead or Thomas get hurt we better be able to run the ball like Dallas.

Well if he doesn't get traded does that become a problem? After being rumored of a trade candidate he could really be disgruntled after that and want to leave us for sure when contract is up

This made us forget about Jairus Byrd pretty quickly lol.

Re: Brandin Cooks Trade Talks

I wanted that freakin' #5 pick to begin with. The #5 gives so much more leverage in the draft, coupled with the #11 your able to basically move back at other teams expense and get the players and picks that you actually target. Ireland can put together a D fairly well, and if losing Cook to get us there I'm all in. We need cb.'s, NT, DE, S and an OLB, some of this will come from FA but the draft is deep at DE, CB, and S and I look to see some true upgrades at CB this season in the draft. I also think Colemans progress made Cook tradeable. Now I hope Vaccarro gets a turn on the trading block.

Re: Brandin Cooks Trade Talks

On second thought I probably would do it. LF is a greater threat than Cooks and the Panthers are going to snag him more than likely. I do not want to face LF twice a year. Cooks does not generate that threat level to me and the first problem to solve is winning the Division. LF is going to be a problem for years if the Panthers get him.

brees84 03-02-2017 02:06 PM

Re: Brandin Cooks Trade Talks

In this draft 1st rounder for Cooks is a great deal. If we can get 5th pick for Cooks that would be one of the best moves our front office has ever made. But I highly doubt that would happen. 18th pick is more realistic.

Beastmode 03-02-2017 02:10 PM

Re: Brandin Cooks Trade Talks

LF could also help our D (keeping them off the field) and give our old QB a break. Panthers would then be scrambling around to get the other RB Cook more than likely which probably won't happen for them.

Agreed. Swapping picks and netting picks won't be enough. I could see them agreeing to swap picks, get a player and a mid rounder (2nd or 3rd) to seal the deal.

Again, nothing will be surprising as Free Agency begins on next week.

What a dumbass. Best play caller in the game, best QB in the game and you want out.

I guess those TD celebrations between Thomas and Snead were telling something about Cooks.

If that's true..don't let the door hit 'ya. The Titans will easily make it the playoffs and get past NE O.o

Everyone is making fun of him lol! Same thing will happen to him that happens to every target that has no Brees caliber QB. I wish him the best if this is true but just stating a fact.

How much you want to bet Loomis would take the 5th and also some undisclosed performance clause pick say if he hits 1,000 we get a 3rd. Think he has done that more than once.

Re: Brandin Cooks Trade Talks

Exceptional talent but limited at the same time. We've all seen it.

Michael Thomas on the other hand fits every passing scenario.

Good move if we can pull it off. And yes, I was probGraham trade also.

Can't wait to see how this plays out. Just imagine what we could haul at #5 and #11

I called Cook's "cancer in the locker room" attitude back when he complained about not grtting the ball. Despite his stats, IMO he's not a true #1 receiver anyway, and I think he felt threatened by MT's growing status.

There was no doubt tension between Cooks and Thomas. Cooks couldn't handle the competition at all.

Re: Brandin Cooks Trade Talks

Cook in the last year of his rookie contract and the ability to pick to up his option is huge for a proven WR that can take the top off any defense. Now that the words out lets see if any other teams get in the mix.

The experiment with Cook as a replacement for the Darrin/Bush role appears to be coming to an end.

We will need a WR with speed to take top off a Defense now.

Maybe a dream comes true. #18 Christian McCaffrey LMAO only kidding,

#11 O.J. Howard - replace Cook as a weapon
#18 Taco Charlton - Stud DE to set the edge and push the pocket

Just saw this:

Saints HC Sean Payton says WR Brandin Cooks is not on the trade block but the team will listen to offers.

TEN & PHI interested.

#18 Taco Charlton SDE Michigan 6052 272 4.87 #33 Sr,

backed up by

#44 T.J. Watt SOLB/ILB/DE/TE Wisconsin 6042 243 4.65 #42 rJr

would complete change the weakness on the strong side of the defense

Now while we are at it lets trade Stephone Anthony also

this is nutz

Re: Brandin Cooks Trade Talks

The only thing that bothers me about this trade is this. Drew is getting older. When he was young you could pretty much put anyone out there and he would get them the ball. We have gotten away with basically no name receivers. As he gets older he is going to need players that can go out and make plays. Players that can get their hands on a poorly thrown pass and get yards.
It also sets us up for the post Brees era. A new qb is gonna need as much help as possible. With cooks in the lineup and Thomas coming out balling we may very well have one of the best receiving corps in the league.

Aside from Randy Moss for a year or two Tom Brady has been throwing to many players that wouldn't be on most teams' rosters, let alone starting at #1 or 2 as a WR and winning SBs. Wasn't Edelman a running back when Welker and Moss were the WRs?

Cooks actually helped Thomas. Now Thomas will be the one drawing the top corners. This all pointing as I said to Fleener being prepped up.

Thomas didn't seem to have much trouble against the likes of Richard Sherman.

Re: Brandin Cooks Trade Talks

If we could get 5, 18 and 3rd from the titans for cooks and our 11 this could be a scenario:

#5 Solomon Thomas DE Stanford
#18 Quincy Wilson CB Florida
#44 Chris Wormley DE/DT Michigan
#76 David Webb QB California
#83 Noah Brown WR Ohio State
#118 Pat Elfein G/C Ohio State

TELL ME THIS WOULDN'T BE A MONSTER DRAFT FOR US. With our 6th and 7th rounder we need an OT and maybe another WR.

The need for receivers as glaring before the Thomas pick. This front office is playing the Fleener redemption hope card.

Sherman was not on Cooks. Well, he had 60 something yards and no TDs. and here we go again.

If we don't go to the super bowl this season we probably won't go to one at all.

Here is the deal. If Forster is our guy we have to move up to get him!!! We can't sit back and wait for him to fall. Could we find another deep threat guy??? I think so. We move up and grab that LB who is going to cornersone our D for years to come.

Is there any indication that any of this will happen soon? With the way Brees takes care of his body and the fact that he is one of the best ever, it is likely he will be the Saints QB, playing at a high level, for another four to five years.
