Brandin Cooks Trade Talks
Strange move if it actually happens. But he did commit the cardinal sin of complaining about Payton's game planning and how he was being used. |
Re: Brandin Cooks Trade Talks
We give a 1st and 3rd for him. I think if they have that much interest in him it's going to cost them dearly.
|
Re: Brandin Cooks Trade Talks
Titans have the 5th pick this draft and the eagles are 13th or 14th.
|
Re: Brandin Cooks Trade Talks
Never say never. I don't see this happening for less than a player and a pick or two picks a #1 and #3 anything less would be unwise IMHO.
|
Re: Brandin Cooks Trade Talks
Has to be at least a 1st and either additional or players involved for me.
It makes sense. As good as he is he wont be a number 1 receiver for me. He doesn't have the size and will need a really accurate QB to throw to the smaller frame/window. I rate him, really exciting player etc but he is going to want 10ml a year. Brees can make a 4/5th round WR look all pro and that money can go on suring up the line on either offense or defensive. If it happens good luck to him. |
Re: Brandin Cooks Trade Talks
Also if they are trading a deal must be close with Snead. To loose both would be stupidity

Re: Brandin Cooks Trade Talks
Let's say we trade him to the Titans and swap first round picks... Would that be worth it having the #5 pick?
|
Re: Brandin Cooks Trade Talks
His contract is affordable this year but wont be much longer. If he isnt happy youll end up with a player not putting in the work and refusing a new deal so you loose him for less. Sell while the price is high for me

Re: Brandin Cooks Trade Talks
I'd like to see him stay. But Michael Thomas made him kind of expendable. We still have Snead. But it's better to have a little too much at the position then not enough. After Snead the experience/talent of our WRs drop off considerably.

Re: Brandin Cooks Trade Talks
I wouldn't trade him for swapping picks. He's worth at least a #1.
|
Re: Brandin Cooks Trade Talks
Trade him for #5 and mid round pick, sigh Lesean Jackson to be vertical threat, and draft defense with 5 & 11 picks.

Re: Brandin Cooks Trade Talks
1st and 2nd from the Titans and maybe an average DE. Cooks is a proven commodity. They would be taking a gamble with picks.

Re: Brandin Cooks Trade Talks
I'm calling bull**** until the deal goes down

Cooks will be very expensive after this year (he could walk/re sign elsewhere and the Saints would have nothing). |
Re: Brandin Cooks Trade Talks
New Orleans Saints' Brandin Cooks on radar of Eagles, Titans
Good grief, if we only get a rd 1 for him I'm going to be pissed. We gave up a 3rd to move up in the first to get him. A rd 1 is not enough. Rd 1 and a rd 2 or 3+ picks is a must or moving up to get him was a wasted pick. |

We can pick up the 5 year option for him next year which would be about 6 million. After that drew will probably be gone and we will recover 9 million in dead money. If he is traded we need to get a butt load of picks. |
Re: Brandin Cooks Trade Talks
I am warming up to this trade , COOKS FOR #5 ELITE PASS RUSHER, LB OR CB AT 11. We are likely to get Sullivan.. Garrett . Thomas . Foster LB or Lattimore CB. IMHO that makes a better team. Hate to lose Cooks but he is easier to replace than a pass rusher. Make it happen Loomis

Re: Brandin Cooks Trade Talks
If we give up Cooks and our pick to move to 5 I would be seriously pissed. Getting a high pick like 5 for him okay, but without giving up our draftpick would be okay. Or receiving a first and player or multiple picks.
|
Re: Brandin Cooks Trade Talks
If it swap picks it makes no sense. But for the number 5 pock another pick or a player its potential a very good deal
Just need to get the right player |
Re: Brandin Cooks Trade Talks
You all know though if we get the 5th pick we take a impact player then a QB at 11 just to pee on the parade
|
Re: Brandin Cooks Trade Talks
I would only take #5 as a straight up swap Cooks for #5 . then double up on DE Thomas and Allen pass rusher fixed. Imagine Thomas , Rankins. Jourdan, Allen. Awesome front four
|
Re: Brandin Cooks Trade Talks
162 catches, 2311 yards, 17 tds is 2 years
that is worth more considerably than just a 1 |
Re: Brandin Cooks Trade Talks
So we can trade Brandin Cooks for the #5 pick to the AFC and not have to worry about seeing him or paying him? From there we could take Solomon Thomas or Jonathan Allen at 5, and Reuben Foster at #11? We can get another WR in free agency. I think I'd pull the trigger.

I guess we should go ahead and put the final nail in the coffin of that abysmal 2014 draft.

Re: Brandin Cooks Trade Talks
According to ESPN's Chris Mortensen, the Titans are the frontrunners to acquire Brandin Cooks in a deal that could send the No. 18 overall pick to the Saints.
"The Saints look like they are intent on rebuilding their defense," Adam Schefter added, and they are targeting a first-rounder to do that. Per Mort, another scenario would involve the Titans sending the No. 5 pick and "another pick or two" to New Orleans in exchange for No. 11 overall. As Tennessee holds the Nos. 5 and 18 overall selections in the draft, GM Jon Robinson is armed to make aggressive moves. The Titans' two biggest needs are wideout and cornerback.Related: TitansSource: ESPN.comMar 2 - 12:38 PM |
Re: Brandin Cooks Trade Talks
We gave up a first and a third to get a short speedster. We need a speedster to open the deep ball from Drew so the middle is open for Thomas, Snead and our tight ends. He fills his role nicely here once Payton figured out how to use him properly. He benefits the team now.
I can't recall who we have on the practice squad that could possibly fill that role so I am extremely hesitant about trading a 1,000 yard receiver for a simple trade up in the draft where we only have six picks.......go figure! I want their first round pick, a third round and a defensive starter if I am even going to consider this deal that I really don't want to make in the first place. We paid dearly for him and I'm not giving him up cheaply. If another team wants him then they need to pony up. |
Re: Brandin Cooks Trade Talks
I'd reeeaaally like to get our hands on that #5 pick, but I wouldn't want it at the expense of #11. I'd like to see something like we send them Cooks and a 4th and possibly swap picks in the 3rd and we get #5 and keep #11

Re: Brandin Cooks Trade Talks
I don't think we could keep both the 5 and 11. That would be impossible. 11 is a great spot for salary issues. Rules start changing right there. This is a tough one for me. We likely get better on D but also that weakness gets transferred to the offense. Not feeling this one. Cooks keeps teams honest and opens up the field.
