It wasn't the 32nd pick that Payton had a problem with, it's the fact the patriots wanted our 2nd or 3rd round pick as well as Brandin Cooks.

Cheeky b*******
So they wanted a 2/3 rounder and Cooks for us to move up what 12 spaces to 32

Found this on the report, it thought I'd heard 2nd or 3rd but this just says "later round pick"

According to the report, the Patriots' proposal also included New Orleans sending a later-round pick back to New England.

Still, I wouldn't give up a later round pick to get their 32nd pick, we need as many players as we can.

I dont like just getting 32 for Cooks. Its a fair starting process from both sides

Hey Lee, I think we don't have to worry about that. Sean Payton has made it clear that Cooks won't come cheap in a trade scenario. A 1st round pick simply won't cut it.

We hold the cards here.

If we can go from 27th to say 18th in that department we are going to make the playoffs.

Fournette will be there when the Panthers pick. His poor performances at the combine insured that.

Re: Brandin Cooks Trade Talks

Ok guys, after searching a little more it looks like the whole thing was basically Keenan Lewis trying to stir the pot and Mike didn't really say anything negative. Mike said he talks to Cooks every day and this whole thing is Loomis trying to trade Cooks and not a demand on Cooks's part.

Beastmode 03-06-2017 03:33 PM

Re: Brandin Cooks Trade Talks

Who cares. Loomis can trade whoever he wants when he wants. If Cooks does not like that fact he is in the wrong profession.

Keenan can suck my sack. That was a hoe type move, the man was calling for vet advice and you gonna put it out there for everyone to see making a big issue even worse. If i see him on the street I'll call him a hoe to his face cuz thats what he is.

As much as I like Cooks I agree. And it won't be a bad thing. Brees' strength is throwing receivers open. That means throwing it where only the WR can get to it. At 5'10" that takes high out of the equation. I think they may have figured that out. Thomas, Coleman and Fleener don't have to be open to be "open". Cooks does and is great doing it, but it's not the same.

I was thinking the same thing. With Thomas and Cooks taking swipes at each other, one has to go. Let it be the one complaining.

Thomas is not taking swipes at him. There was nothing said to that effect that I am aware of, just something that was made up at this point for a header like almost everything these days.

He may not have meant it to be a shot, but Cooks took it as one and responded with "trigger fingers turn to twitter fingers." Subtweets are very real. This is pretty normal with my generation to make passive aggressive social media posts about each other and to deny that it was about the person it was about.

Yeah. What's the definition of insanity, doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. You don't trade away one of your best offensive weapons, especially when offense is the strength of your team. If you wanna fix the defense try something else.

I know where it came from. It's not a coincidence that Cooks posted that after Thomas posted what he posted. People use song quotes to sub tweet all the time. I mean ALL the time. As soon as Thomas posted that quote it wasn't even 5 minutes before Cooks responded...then he deleted the tweet. Thomas probably told him it wasn't about him, but Cooks definitely thought it was.

The trade of Cooks seems to be Done deal.
Any thing less than #5 or player and # 15 would not make me happy.
Cooks is a young elite player you need to get big value in order to trade for unproven picks.
I get the reason the Saints want to make the move and I am not opposed if we milk it for all its worth.
We could get J. Allen and Rueben Foster and numerous other combinations . You have to offer something of value to have someone trade.

Re: Brandin Cooks Trade Talks

I did in fact watch the Instagram video live but was a tad bit late to the scenario that was playing out...Keenan had went live several times. I don't follow him, but knew things were being said so i tuned in. Someone was on speaker phone with him but theres no way to tell it was definitively Michael Thomas. Nothing huge was said, but it was DEFINITELY Keenan trying to stir the pot and get the person on the other end to talk crap as well. From what i gathered Keenan believed Willie Snead was talking down about him and calling Keenan a Bum, where exactly He heard that from, i don't know. My man Willie actually jumped on the live video as a viewer and told Keenan that was a lie & "fake news" then Keenan kinda back tracked on talking crap about Snead and tried explaining himself to which Willie responded "10/4." That was about the end of that. Bottom line...Keenan was just acting like a fool the entire day, airing out dirty laundry & talking ignorant. I have no respect for him after that drama. Love me some Willie Snead though.

I personally love what Cooks is about on and off the field, but business is business i guess. For the right price i totally understand moving on from him to fix this defense, but I sure will miss The Archer. Here's to no less than a 1st and 3rd/4th for him.

See the Saints fan on there saying he has heard Cooks and 11 for 5 and 18

Thoughts
Not sure myself. Id like a 3/4 to sweeten that a bit.

5 would be great and 18 still bery good.
