He played tough! Although I'd be fine with resigning Ingram and ignoring the RB class this coming year. Still think it's the heavies we should be focusing on.

We may not be able to afford Ingram if his contract incentives kick in - nor should we...

We need to keep getting this team younger, faster, stronger, better...

follow the model that unless we've got a 10-year All-Pro Quarterback, Cornerback, or Offensive Linemen, let 'em go for the compensatory picks...

With Ireland in-tow, we now have the ability to build through the draft which will get the talent spread to more positions...

And will minimize the limitations we've had with being up against the cap...

Not even if we traded Drew, Mark and our first and third rounder?

I had those very same thoughts about Lattimore.

Doesn't matter, Payton is bringing Manziel back next season if he proves he can stay on the wagon for a year...

Draft season is still a long ways away, teams get flights of fancy in the early spring and strange things happen (i.e. Lattimore)...

The link is to QB rankings for most of the collegiate prospects and there are more than a few that should interest this year...

I hope Saints FO is targeting another MLB early on (see Reuben Foster) ...

The Ohio State - Jerome Baker
Clemson - Kendall Joseph
Texas - Malik Jefferson
Florida State - Matthew Thomas

Most are sideline to sideline assassins & possible Day 1 impact guys.

Thoughts? Opinions?

Malik Jefferson SLB/MLB/WLB Texas* 6015 238 4.57 #46 Jr

not sure about him. Is his play really that disappointing or is he once again asked to do too much on such a bad Texas defense?

Jerome Baker OLB/ILB Ohio State 6005 225 4.62 #17 Jr

He is an interesting prospect but I wonder about his size as a MLB. Do we add yet another WLB?

Kendall Joseph ILB Clemson 5111 225 4.78 #34 rJr

he is even smaller

Matthew Thomas OLB/ILB Florida State 6025 227 4.67 #6 rSr

Now your talking a solid day 2/3 upside pick injuries, suspensions issues
injuries, suspensions

A team suspension for violation of team rules 2014.

He was suspended again for the entire 2015 season.

Rashaan Evans ILB/OLB Alabama 6021 232 4.73 #32 Sr

I think he would work well with Klien

over all I am not excited by this class of LB.

I would ... that 2016 defense played a whole lot better when Ellerbe was in the starting lineup. Too bad he couldn't stay somewhat healthy in NO. We need a younger, healthier version of Danelle.

Overall we're better at the LB positions, however not fast enough as a unit.

That is why I would kick the tires on cheap young solid FA like

Christian Jones OLB/ILB Chicago 6031 249 4.68 UDFA

Speed rush skills?

Marquis Haynes DE/OLB? Ole Miss 6021 222 4.63 #10 Sr

Speed IR risk pick

Skai Moore LB South Carolina 6021 218 4.65 #10 Sr

Hagan,

Appreciate the insight brother. Your analysis as it relates to free agents, draft picks etc have been spot on over the years.

I owe you an apology on AJ Klein. You were dead right in your scouting report and I was dead wrong.

It is always a crap shoot and when you debate me you make me dig deep and ponder my reasoning. You have steered me away from more than a few I was high on and you were right.

keep up the challenges I appreciate them. I enjoy them

I have no issue with eating crow as you know.

As for the spot on part? I would not go that far

AJ I wanted in the draft and kept a close eye on. The same goes for DaQuan Jones DT/DE Titians. He is a DT miss played as a 34 DE I pray for FA after their rookie contracts run out if they prove themselves.

If we all keep beating each over the head we can make a dynasty out of the saints

Quenton Nelson G Notre Dame - 6-5 mauler.

I'm watching USC/Stanford ...not impressed at all w/QB Sam Darnold. He needs to stay in school another year.

Nelson is plug and play with pro bowl skill set.

Darnold is exposed for the media over hyped darling he was. Your right another year is just what he needs. He is a solid prospect that will need to sit and get coached up.

Long Offseason till the draft, let the draft niks and "expert scouts" pick him apart...

Draft rankings really don't gel until about two weeks out from the draft...

Then you get the subversive crap, so we'll see...

Right now one of my favorites, even though I loathe NotreDame, is Nelson, and he's supposed to be a Top 10 pick...

Not a good day for the Canes - of course, I was happy with that...

Instead of Vanderbilt, Missouri and Texas A & M in the SEC - I'd rather have Clemson, Duke, Georgia Tech and/or Florida State...

Braden Smith? REALLY DO NOT SEE US IN THE POSITION TO DRAFT HIM WITHOUT TRADING DOWN IN ONE AND OR TRADING UP IN 3. OPPS CAP LOCK I would be shocked if he makes out of round 2

How about Mr Versitility?

Austin Golson OT/OG/C Auburn 6043 312 5.23 #73 rSr

He has played all 5 positions on the OL at one time or another in his years at Auburn and Mississippi, He has plated as a starter since freshman year

He is becoming a priority pick to target DAY 3 in the draft for me. UDFA? doubt it

I'd prefer we didn't spend anything higher than a sixth round on a returner...

We still have too many needs at OL, DL, CB, LB and QB to go out and spend a draft pick on a kick returner...

How about the TE’s in this upcoming draft class? Fleener is likely a goner and we really need to stop trying to make Josh Hill a thing.

I was looking at the free agent TE’s for 2018 and it’s a really dreadful group. We need to address the position early in the draft. Looks like there are some good options:

Mark Andrews
Hayden Hurst
Troy Fumagalli
Dalton Schultz
