2018 NFL Draft Prospects - Saints
I'm liking Baker Mayfield and Luke Falk for the Saints - not that they'd make it to the 32nd pick... ;)

Re: 2018 NFL Draft Prospects - Saints
My second favorite position, player in the draft - OSU's Bosa...

Re: 2018 NFL Draft Prospects - Saints
9. New Orleans Saints - Calvin Ridley WR Alabama 6005 190 4.48 #3 Jr
There is no arguing he is the most pro ready WR in the draft Trade back and get some picks for once would be nice. Which we all know SP will not do. 90% odds on favorite to stand pat in round 1. If we did to say the pick 15 range :p pick 15-20 range Christian Kirk WR/KR Texas A&M* 5106 200 4.39 #3 Jr Reminds me of Cooks but unlike Cook he excels on quick screen and is a return man. Or go for broke, drop back again, pick 20 - 25 range get some more picks and go for a player that could be the biggest impact pick in the draft for the saints. Hate to say it but I am still watching pick 20 - 25 range Ronnie Harrison SS/FS/CB/OLB Alabama 6011 214 4.54 #15 Jr He is a day one plug and play starter. Let Kenny walk and hope for a comp pick for once. Direct that cap money to another position. He reminds of Morgan Burnett SS/FS/CB/OLB 6013 209 4.51 Green Bay Then go after your QB I love Fluak but after doing some home work the #1 issue he has is some head injuries, nothing really serious but they are there. So his stock might take hit the media is not talking about yet. Then there is Mayfield So both QBs should still be there in the second |

Teams are giving the OSU DE to much attention and when OSU faces a well balanced talented line they will find these DE are not to hard to handle. Orlando Brown showed me more in the OU vs OSU The most over hyped to date is Key. I did not see it last year and he has to get on the field to show me some thing this year. Look at Chubb. Teams are doing everything they can to stop him for two years straight and all he does is keep making plays and making big plays when they are needed most. Chubb just keeps putting up the most complete set stats of all DE in college. This could be a weak year at DE and a player like Chubb is just not glamorous enough athletically to get all the hype. Sure Chubb is not as gifted athletically as all these other players but he is a much better football player right now than any of the DE ranked ahead of him. IMO |
Re: 2018 NFL Draft Prospects - Saints
I'd agree with Key being overrated...
But, whether I like it or not, I've seen enough Ohio State games to know that Bosa is not overrated... In fact, most of the attention he has received should better prepare him for the NFL... It takes alot for me to even shout out for players from the Big 10... And while I'd dump half the draft to move up for Baker Mayfield or Luke Falk, or a No. 1 and players like Armstead, this is the draft to get Brees' replacement... |
Re: 2018 NFL Draft Prospects - Saints
Malik Jefferson (LB - Texas) looks like he could become a force at the next level.

Re: 2018 NFL Draft Prospects - Saints
After the show Falk put on last night he is back on my list as a solid 1 in the middle of the round. gotta do some digging on these so called head hits. He stands tall in the pocket no matter the pressure. Getting his bell rung is what I am hoping they are talking about. That is not that big of an issue in my book. Full blown not knowing were you at and asking for momma is another issue all together. Then it is how long did it take for the head to clear and how many.
Love the way he goes through his progressions. This sets him a part from all the other top QB in the draft, he is so far ahead of everyone else. The kid does not get rattled. Imagine if he had top talent recruited around him. A lot of drops over the years by WR. Falk still needs coaching. A couple of years behind Drew and SP in his ear is just what this kid needs. Match made in heaven? On the other hand Sam Darnold, it's all about upside and he still has questions he needs to answer. He is a great example of what I was saying about the OSU DE. The athleticism and skill set is all there. It is more about great flashes of what might be. Hype is all about the "IF". Donald is young and this year he is off to a so so start. Can he handle it and bounce back? Right now I am saying stay in school. Just like I said last year with OSU DEs despite the 3rd round grades they were getting from the media scouts. Right now I see them as 1/2 type of players with the great OSU media hype machine backing them up the chart. Bradley Chubb is still my #1 complete DE. Run or Pass, Inside or Outside makes no difference, he does it all at a high level from any where on the field. He may not be a sack specialist at the next level. But he will be a player that keeps LB clean and open up lanes for blitzes. Like Cam he out mans his way to the QB. SDE? hard to find faults in his game. Slide him inside and bring on the speed rusher on passing downs is a great skill set the saints are lacking. "IF" the OSU DEs get it going and the light comes on, they will be good if not great. Lets see what happens now that they are getting into the meat of the schedule. The higher we draft in round 1 the more an "IF" drives me nuts. "IF" Latt can stay healthy was the #1 reason I would have not picked him and the reason i think he dropped to us. Howard had NO "IFs" IMO. Shame a talent like Howard is trapped in Tampa. The pairing of Drew and Howard had the makings of some thing special. oh well. Latt is the man. "Ifs" need not apply in the top 15 unless the talent is not there. That is my psychotic way of looking at the top of round 1 in the draft. |

ILB in 2016 to OLB is a good fit for him. Lets see how does. Athletically he has a good given gift. His coverage skills are pretty good. What I am watching to see if he can take on blockers and shed them better. |

Re: 2018 NFL Draft Prospects - Saints
But "what have you done for me lately?" Is it the "right 53" or the "win now mentality" could signal a "rebuilding phase." Playing with "house money" thinking "run the table" could end up with "too many cooks in the kitchen." "Gotta make hay while the sun shines" or "get out the kitchen."

Let me say I like Mayfield - a lot; but can he adapt his game to the NFL?
|
Re: 2018 NFL Draft Prospects - Saints
Mayfield has that "IT" factor going for him over Falk right now. Saw a huge difference in demeanor yesterday in Mayfield loss vs Falk win.
Mayfield reminds me of Drew and they can see eye to eye Disclaimer? Mayfield has better talent to work with. I am really liking Dimitri Flowers HB/FB/TE Oklahoma 6005 247 4.83 (?) #36 Sr Cole Madison ROT/ROG Washington St 6045 305 5.17 #61 rSr |

Damn we're only how many games into the season, and y'all want talk about the draft.

No one's writing off the season, we're just scouting and discussing how the talent could fit, improve the team...

Re: 2018 NFL Draft Prospects - Saints
I am still banking on a pick at the worse 15 to 20 range.
Playoff teams 20 to 32 Stay healthy and keep gelling at this rate and 20 or higher is back on the table. |

Re: 2018 NFL Draft Prospects - Saints
My early gut feeling is SP will go after the top toy in the draft.
Christian Kirk WR/KR/PR Texas A&M* 5106 200 4.39 #3 Jr I like his college game more than Cooks college game. Its simple. KR/PR skill set Cooks never had and Kirk is much better at quick screens and reverses also. Which we all know is an SP favorite. I would find it hard to pass on the most pro ready WR in the draft. Calvin Ridley WR Alabama 6005 190 4.48 He is a plug n play #2 day 1 want a mid to late round (5/6) injury flyer in the slot? Deebo Samuel WR/KR South Carolina 5110 208 4.50 #1 rJr He is great working out of the slot. He is a solid route runner. He sets up DBs very nicely with smooth, quick and shifty breaks. Shame he broke his fibula. He was looking really good too. Good side he did it early in the year and should be ready to go for OTAs. He was looking like a day 1 starter. He is one of those sneaky quick pest in the slot that can drive teams nuts. Few others since we have 2 - 5s and 2 - 6s Michael Gallup WR, Colorado State, 6-1, 195, 4.52, Sr. Cedric Wilson WR Boise St 6016 4.49 #1 Sr I may not see the immediate needs in picking both Calvin Ridley WR Alabama 6005 190 4.48 #3 Jr Deebo Samuel WR/KR South Carolina 5110 208 4.50 #1 rJr But I would have to admit I could see a great chance that the saints 3 WR set would be set for years to come. Micheal Thomas WR OSU 6026 212 4.52 #3 rJr Calvin Ridley WR Alabama 6005 190 4.48 #3 Jr Deebo Samuel WR/KR South Carolina 5110 208 4.50 #1 rJr Willie Snead WR/KR Ball St 5110 195 4.56 #3 Jr Brandon Coleman WR Rutgers 6060 225 4.52 #17 rJr I have not given up on Corey Fuller WR Virgina Tech 6022 204 4.43 #83 rSr I would almost be giddy and looking for a TE to finish it off this beast for Drew and SP But my gut is telling me Micheal Thomas WR OSU 6026 212 4.52 #3 rJr Christian Kirk WR/KR/PR Texas A&M* 5106 200 4.39 #3 Jr |
Re: 2018 NFL Draft Prospects - Saints
Don't see the need for more toys and don't think the Saints will go that way...
QB, DE, OG should be the top needs going into the draft... |
Re: 2018 NFL Draft Prospects - Saints
If anything toywise i would expect a receiving TE.
I would like us to continue building the lines thou. LG, DE, another young C. |
