as much as i like Harrison ghost of draft past crowd my fragile egg shell mind, Reuben Foster, even after the AJ Klien signing

Reuben Foster ILB Alabama 6005 236 4.72 #10 rSR

Rashaan Evans ILB/OLB Alabama 6021 232 4.73 #32 Sr

How about the brother of our own Trey Edmunds...

Tremaine Edmunds*, OLB, Virginia Tech
Height: 6-5. Weight: 236.
Projected 40 Time: 4.71.
Projected Round (2018): 1-3.

OLB? that would be a bit of a shock IMO.
Trade back or reach?
Klien to MLB?
Pass rusher ?

It is hard to over look what all he does that is for sure. Wait for the combine he will be one of those media love children

I am keep an eye on

Harrison Phillips, DL, Stanford 6032 295 4.96 #66 rJr

DA loves attacking players that can play multiple positions

Definitely keeping an eye on these two:

Dante Booker OLB/ILB Ohio State 6021 233 4.62 #33 Sr

Parris Campbell WR/KR Ohio State 6002 208 4.39 #21 rJr

I still think upgrades can be made to our LB corp so Roquan Smith, Rashaan Evans, Tremaine Edmunds, Dante Booker, etc all have my utmost attention.

Re: 2018 NFL Draft Prospects - Saints

players that caught my eye.

Kyzir White SS/OLB West Virginia 6025 215 4.56 #8 Sr

Is becoming my Rodney Dangerfield of the 2018 NFL Draft for the media scouts. he is not getting the respect he deserves. I just stare and wonder why? Round 4? what a steal at the bottom of the 3rd. He is my fav for an in the box SS. Still needs coaching but he hits and covers extremely well.

Day 3 likes

4/5 Marcell Ateman WR Oklahoma St 6032 220 4.57 #3 rSr
Use him as a split TE/WR? He blocks better than Fleener. Coleman and Ateman lined up in opposite slots in a 4 WR set with Thomas on the outside, would drive defenses nuts. That's a lot of timber on the field. just toying with the idea

5/6 Marcus Baugh TE Ohio State 6041 250 4.84 #85 rSr
Secrets out. OSU has started to show him off but his run blocking was not that strong last night

6/7 Justin Jackson RB/KR Northwestern 5096 200 4.52 #21 Sr
I just like this guy. Blocking needs work but to accomplish all he has done behind those Northwestern OLs over the years is worth serious consideration.

6/7 Chris Worley ILB OSU 6015 230 4.67 #35 rSr
kinda of a new comer on my list. he was all over the place and did not blow his assignments

7/UDFA Jamal Morrow, RB/WR/KR Washington State 5085 180 4.54 #25 rSr
He reminds me of PT. Nothing overly flashy just a solid all around good football player in all phases of his game

Dante Booker was a concussion player. For the most part he has been missing in action all season long. OSU has seemed to moved on from him early this year. He is now a late round flier player in the draft.

Re: 2018 NFL Draft Prospects - Saints

Decided to take a stab at our first couple of picks...

Round 1 Pick 27: Roquan Smith, ILB, Georgia

Do I realistically expect Smith to be there when we pick? No, but crazier things have happened and LB’s tend to drop a bit due to reaches on QB’s and WR’s. I plug Smith in at WLB, move Anzalone to MLB and make Klein a full-time SLB. That’s a good, fast line-up.

Round 3 Pick 27: Mike Gesicki, TE, Penn State

Again, probably gone before this pick, but this is an imperative position to upgrade. Any of the top TE prospects would be fine and their differences are just a matter of splitting hairs. Take the best TE available here.

Round 4 Pick 27: B.J. Hill, DT, North Carolina State

Now this is a pick I’m head over heels in love with! Ryan Nielsen is reunited with the big, block-eating monster NT that our line is sorely lacking.

Realistically I don’t expect him to still be on the board past the middle of the first round. Last year guys like Haason Reddick and Jarrad Davis were drafted 13th and 21st respectively and Roquan Smith is a better looking prospect.

I’d be happy with us going best available TE in the first and DT B.J. Hill in the third.

2018 New Orleans Saints Draft Prospects (Updated 2018/01/02)

No. 32 (R1, 32) QB Baker Mayfield, Oklahoma; Height: 6' 1"; Weight: 218 lbs.
Baker Mayfield will really divide the scouts, but compares well to Brees...

No. 32 (R1, 32) C Frank Ragnow, Arkansas; Height: 6' 5"; Weight: 319 lbs.
Razorback Raganow could start at Guard and learn alongside Unger...

No. 32 (R1, 32) DT Harrison Phillips, Stanford; Height: 6' 4"; Weight: 285 lbs.
Saints Defensive Interior while improved, gets better with Harrison...

No. 32 (R1, 32) TE Mark Andrews, Oklahoma; Height: 6' 5"; Weight: 253 lbs.
Mark Andrews could immediately solve the hole at Tight End...

No. 32 (R1, 32) G Quenton Nelson, Notre Dame; Height: 6' 5"; Weight: 329 lbs.
Surprised if Nelson falls out of the Top 20, even as a guard...

No. 32 (R1, 32) DE Nick Bosa, Ohio St; Height: 6' 4"; Weight:270 lbs.
Nick Bosa is till a sophmore, but a guy can still wish, right?

I'd triple check his medicals. Is he back to 100 % post surgery? Is he available to participate in the Senior bowl? It will be interesting to see how far he falls in the draft.

hagan714 01-03-2018 02:27 AM

Re: 2018 NFL Draft Prospects - Saints

Rd 2/3
Frank Ragnow C/OG,Arkansas 6052 319 5.14 #72 Sr
he has the corner stone skill set and mentality to anchor an OL
Injury report is key and last I heard he is a no go for the senior bowl.

Rd ?
Harrison Phillips, DL, Stanford 6032 295 4.96 #66 rJr
I really never noticed him when watching the cards.
He looked soft in the bowl game. really soft and was pancaked a few to many times for my liking
i did not see a 4.96 guy out there. 5.30?
He needs a strong pre draft to sell me on him
IMO? Right now he is field stone and not the foundation stone we need at NT

I am not really overly excited by the 43 NTs. Well not to chase. Someone needs to fall into our laps

Da’Ron Payne DL Alabama 6012 308 5.38 #94 Jr
Christian Wilkins DT Clemson 6032 310 5.04 #42 Jr
Vita Vea DT Washington 6041 332 5.19 #50 rJr
Lowell Lotulelei DT Utah 6011 310 5.08 #93 Sr

Da’Ron Payne does have my eye. Even then I would double check other players on the board before making that pick.

Rd 5/6?
B.J. Hill DT NC State 6031 315 4.94 #98 Sr

Top sleeper? Rd 7/FA
Nifae Lealao DT Vanderbilt 6045 312 5.17 #77 Sr

This is why I started looking at FA by mid season.

A Top 20 Defensive Lineman against the run in the NFL is a available in FA.

:deadhorse2:

DaQuan Jones DT/DE Titians 6036 322 5.35 #90 R4 2014
Not bad for a 2 down miscast 34 DE and he can probably be had at a good price. 3 mill?

I do have a tainted view of my FA because I have been watching his development over the past few years

Best pro fits for 2018 NFL draft prospects in the College Football Playoff final

RASHAAN EVANS, LB, ALABAMA
Best fits: Pittsburgh Steelers, New England Patriots, New Orleans Saints

Evans does it all for the Alabama defense, playing a more traditional linebacker role this year after dominating off the edge in limited opportunities in his first three years. This year, his 77.5 pass-rush grade ranks fourth among linebackers and he has 16 sacks, 16 QB hits, and 35 hurries on only 271 career rushes and his versatility will certainly make him attractive to the Patriots who may see some Jamie Collins to his game. The Steelers defense is always in need of linebackers who are capable of covering and rushing the passer, while the Saints made great strides defensively this season, but are still looking for a dynamic playmaker in the middle of that defense.

Chris,

I'd love that pick ^^^^ ... he's a missile and arrives with cruel intentions. The Saints desperately need a smart, fast LB who brings the wood on every play.

Keep an eye on him next Monday night vs UGA.

I like what Hagan said a couple pages back about Rashaan Evans... Something to the effect of “ghosts of drafts past (Reuben Foster) cloud my mind.”

I think it’s important to keep in mind that back in October we were very close to trading for NaVorro Bowman but the deal fell through.

Actually I'd see Raganow at Right Guard as he's younger, faster probably could do a better job of getting out in space than Warford has...

Peat's a LT and where he should have been all along; for those that criticize his play there consider this -

For the past two seasons, Peat's practiced, watched film, focused at LG only to have Armstead, aka Mr. Glass, either be a late scratch or in-game fold...

I'd rather keep Peat who's been more durable, available than Armstead; When Ramczyk fell, Saints should have been trying to move Armstead...

Patriots have shown you don't have to be the most athletic, but to be available week in, week out is the key to post-season success...

Bowman didn't want to come here; he wanted to join the Raiders; well, he can sit at home with them now and enjoy being a Raider...

I fear he will be gone by the time we pick and we will be looking at probably the two freaks of the draft on the board with a ton of questions to answer.

Why their production was so bad this year?

Malik Jefferson OLB/WLB Texas* 6015 238 4.57 #46 Jr
Tarvarus McFadden CB Florida State* 6012 198 4.49 #4 Jr

Round 5

Fred Warner OLB BYU 6025 228 4.68 #4 Sr

Warner, entering his third season as a starter, is a physical striker who wraps his arms for the secure tackle and possesses the agility and length to harass the quarterback in coverage or on the rush. An advantage for Warner is that he has thrived in both a 3-4 and 4-3 defensive scheme. Line him up in space or drop him into coverage against running backs. He is very athletic, and has a knack for making big plays.Another Kyle Van Noy?

I read a recent report by Todd McShay stating that Malik would improve with another year (he recently announced he's leaving school to enter the NFL draft) of development in college to play stronger/better & attack plays.

It will be interesting to see where he is selected in the draft.

I was actually think one or both of these freaks may just drop into the second.

Let's say the last of the top QBs in the draft are on the board when we pick

Mason Rudolph, QB Oklahoma State 6036 235 4.77 #2 Sr
who is my Derek Carr for 2018

Jets miss their QB in round 1 offer a deal were we end up getting 37 and 49 by some complex trading formula involving players picks and headless chickens.

would you do it?
