The kid is built. I was impressed with his weight room work. he made Lamar Jackson look like a bean pole.

Re: 2018 NFL Draft Prospects - Saints
Really warming to the idea of moving Mr. Glass, Terron Armstead, and allowing Peat to settle in and actually practice all week and play Tackle...
Take the second round pick for Peat and draft a distinguised interior lineman... Doubt Nelson falls past where former Notre Dame Guard Zach Martin went in the 2014 NFL Draft, Pick 16, Dallas... But then again, haven't seen guards go in the Top 25 since 2014... |

Maurice Hurst, DT, Michigan Height: 6-2. Weight: 282. Projected 40 Time: 4.95. Projected Round (2018): 1-3. Just for reference I went back to see what he predicted for us in his first one last year and he had us taking CB Marlon Humphrey @ 8. |

Re: 2018 NFL Draft Prospects - Saints
Problem is that we don’t need another small DT. What we need is a big, stout block-eater. I like Hagan’s idea of signing DaQuan Jones (6-4, 322 lbs) in free agency.

Re: 2018 NFL Draft Prospects - Saints
My FA targets in no particular order :
WR- Jarvis Landry (probably a pipe dream but is a high priority for me) OLB - Nigel Bradham MLB Tahir Whitehead LB - Zach Brown DE- Ziggy Ansah (sleeper pick) TE - Cameron Brate (he'll give you equal or more consistent production than Fleener & won't command top $) Footnote - notice I've listed the linebacker position multiple times? Saints were 10 seconds too late in getting Reuben Foster, we also went after Hightower & more recently Bowman. My spider senses tell me that Mike Nolan is looking for a LB who can cover, rush the QB & is a fast sideline to sideline guy with above avg instincts. My hope is that Jeff Ireland will continue to build on a terrific 2017 draft & find that stud LB (either FA or draft) we are really missing in the middle on D. |
Re: 2018 NFL Draft Prospects - Saints
Nice list K but we got Drew to sign. That is why I am still basement shopping
I missed TE - Cameron Brate, it would be nice to get him back. My Top "Big Ugly" Bang for the Buck in 2018 1) DaQuan Jones DT/DE Titians 6036 322 5.35 #90 R4 2014 Others 2) Dontae Johnson CB/FS 49ers 6021 208 4.45 4th rd 2014 3) Charles Simms RB Tampa 6000 214 4.46 RD3 2014 4) Christian Jones OLB/ILB CHI 6031 249 4.68 2017 UDFA 5) Chris Smith DE Cincinati 6010 266 4.71 CIN 25 RD 5 2014 If we go big bucks Jarvis Landry WR Miami or Kyle Fuller CB Chicago Draft I am really starting to like Fred Warner DE/OLB BYU 6025 228 4.68 #4 Sr 3 year starter, a physical striker who wraps his arms for the secure tackle. Possesses the agility and length to harass the quarterback in coverage or on the rush. Warner has thrived in both a 3-4 and 4-3 defensive scheme. Line him up in space or drop him into coverage against running backs. He is very athletic, and has a knack for making big plays.Another Kyle Van Noy? |

Re: 2018 NFL Draft Prospects - Saints
Here’s a very underrated LB prospect...
Scouts believe Vander Esch is the player people are sleeping on at the linebacker position, as many have compared him to former NFL star Brian Urlacher -- another Mountain West product. There is a belief Vander Esch could end up sliding into the bottom half of Round 1. As we reported back in November, the Week 11 riser was described by many in the scouting community as a special player at the next level. |

He is almost as good as Marcus Allen against the run. His coverage skills inside improved more than Allen. he just does not get the respect I think he deserves. Roll the dice on Marcus Allen and if the coverage skills do develop, he just might be the best all around safety of the bunch in the long run. I do like DeShon Elliott but I get that over hyped gut feeling with him, my gut has been wrong more times than I care to admit mid to late round steal? keep an eye on Micah Hannemann SS/FS BYU 6001 200 4.56 #7 rSr |

It is all there. Whats not to like? His 2016 and 2017 tape to be honest. A ton of flashes. Interviews with him and the Texas coaching staff will make or break him IMO. Was he used to cover up for the lack of talent around him? Yes ok makes some sense That would explain all the jumping around he did. Even then i question his flexibility. ILB or OLB his play was solid but nothing overly impressive. No? I am worried about the pick and if he has his head on straight. Of all the players with round 1 talent the most disappointing players for me were Tarvarus McFadden CB Florida State* 6012 198 4.49 #4 Jr Malik Jefferson SLB/MLB/WLB Texas* 6015 238 4.57 #46 Jr Vita Vea DT Washington 6041 332 5.19 #50 rJr Right now I would rather roll the dice on a one year wonder like Josh Jackson CB/WR/FS Iowa 6012 185 4.50 #15 rJr let see what the draft process reviles. Foles I think is the best option out there to replace Brees in a couple years. Kids good and can learn a lot from Drew and Payton while serving as a backup for a year or two.
He will still be young, kind of like Drew was when we got him. No I’m not saying he should come in and take over immediately. |

Re: 2018 NFL Draft Prospects - Saints
Just for conversation sake, here’s a mock draft that WalterFootball did earlier today...
28. New Orleans Saints: Ronnie Harrison, S, Alabama New Orleans' defense has made great strides this year, but there are still a couple of areas of concern. Kenny Vaccaro has not played well this season, and he happens to be an impending free agent anyway. 92. New Orleans Saints: Mike Gesicki, TE, Penn St We've seen Coby Fleener on the Saints for two seasons now, and he has barely done anything. It's time for New Orleans to find a better, cheaper tight end. |
Re: 2018 NFL Draft Prospects - Saints
Quote:
Harrison would just need to show he could actually provide pass coverage unlike the last safety we had from Bama... Gesicki is probably the most NFL-ready tight end coming into the draft and doubtful he'll last to that pick in the draft... |
Re: 2018 NFL Draft Prospects - Saints
If you could only draft players from one conference...
|
Re: 2018 NFL Draft Prospects - Saints
With 2nd round picks in consecutive drafts used on safeties (Marcus Williams and Vonn Bell), I just don’t see us using a 1st rounder on one... Especially with how we only have one pick until the late 3rd round.
