Edmunds appears to be a freak (size, range, speed) but honestly if he doesn't have the instincts, it really doesn't matter because if you are that big and strong moving in the wrong direction, what exactly does that do for us? Over the years, I'm really starting to notice that when evaluating at the LB position, instincts should be FIRST, speed, size second. I think this could possibly be a reason what got Stephone Anthony over drafted . If you review SA college tape, you couldn't tell he was a 4.57 runner (red flag) out of the gate. When kids times faster than they look on their tape ... I'm curious to know what's up. Generally, it possibly indicates that their process is slow but in a B line, he's Carl Lewis. I'm looking at guys whose tape looks fast. Deion Jones was fast at LSU, Kuechly at BC, Vilma at Miami, Wagner at Utah St etc. Thoughts? |

True, we've an obscene amount of IRs, particularly at the LBer position; plus we traded a Anthony that DA was unable to redeem... Now I'm more optimistic that Anzalone will get better medical care and will strengthen for the rigors of an NFL Season... At the minimum, I'd like to see us get a 3-Down Mike and keep a seventh LBer on the roster: WLB - Anzalone, Stupar MLB - (TBA), Robertson, (TBA) SLB - Klein, Mauti |
Re: 2018 NFL Draft Prospects - Saints
A good Mike LB prospect that could be had in the middle rounds:
Chris Worley, OLB, Ohio State Height: 6-2. Weight: 230. Projected 40 Time: 4.70. Projected Round (2018): 4-6 He went to Glenville High School in Cleveland just like Marshon Lattimore, Ted Ginn Jr and Justin Hardee. We could continue the pipeline. |

I have no problem admitting Teo' exceeded all expectations I had for him. I honestly thought he'd be injured and cut by the end of camp. Glad to be pleasantly surprised.

Re: 2018 NFL Draft Prospects - Saints
Mel Kiper’s latest mock draft released today has us taking...
27 New Orleans Saints Courtland Sutton, WR, SMU Drew Brees is 39, and the Saints just made a playoff run with one of the most productive rookie classes in recent history. This is a team built to win right now. Sutton is a huge 6-4 matchup nightmare who could play opposite budding superstar Michael Thomas. He was inconsistent at times for the Mustangs, but he's a big play-threat who averaged at least 16 yards per catch over the past three seasons. New Orleans could have some receiver turnover with Brandon Coleman and Willie Snead both restricted free agents. |

Later in the draft round 5 or so i still like Marcus Baugh TE Ohio State 6041 250 4.84 #85 rSr Courtland Sutton, WR, SMU? Drew throws to spots and Sutton is not the most disciplined route runner by any stretch of the imagination. I am thinking more on the lines of a saints short at 27 will look like this for the saints Mason Rudolph, QB Oklahoma State 6036 235 4.77 #2 Sr He needs to sit and learn. I see another first round rush on QB again this year. He might be great trade bait also. Da’Ron Payne DL Alabama 6012 308 5.38 #94 Jr What a show he was allowed to put on in the playoffs. Saban made this kid some serious money Christian Kirk WR/KR/PR Texas A&M* 5106 200 4.39 #3 Jr SP loves his toys but does he fall into the Cooks trap once again? I like Kirk more than Cooks coming out of college. Sam Hubbard SDE OSU 6045 265 4.86 #6 rJr DE is still up in the air and he is a beast against the run with solid gap responsibility as a pass rusher. He is not going to speed rush anyone. He will swim and stunt them to death. Which I like. I hate wide swooping DE pass rush. They miss and they are out of the play all together. They end up selling popcorn in the stands. |

Saints will replicate 2017 draft's success.
See who falls to #27 & take the best player available :bng: . |

Home | Draft Analyst
Courtesy of Draft Analyst, here are some Shrine Game practices winners that we could target in the middle to late rounds: Deadrin Senat/DT/South Florida: The only person who as able to stop Deadrin Senat was in fact Deadrin Senat, the few times he wore down over the course of practice. It was understandable, as he hadn’t been in pads for almost a month. When fully energized, Senat showed a complete game; he was quick, explosive, powerful and fundamentally sound. He easily held the point against double-team blocks, collapsed the pocket in man-on-man battles and beat opponents with pure power as well as quick hands. Graded as a late-round pick entering the year, Senat has moved into the middle rounds. Keep an eye on the Buffalo Bills or Kansas City Chiefs during draft weekend. Chris Worley/LB/Ohio State: I was impressed with Worley on film and even more impressed watching him live at Shrine practice. He’s tough and explosive yet also smart and disciplined. He was a demon in blitz drills, a force against the run and held his own in coverage drills. He’s a New York Giants-type of linebacker and would be a good pickup for the team on the draft’s final day. DaeSean Hamilton/WR/Penn State: Hamilton had a “wow” type of week. He ran great routes every day, separated from quicker, speedier cornerbacks and caught everything in sight. He won out for contested passes, grabbed receptions in the open field and consistently caught the ball with his hands away from his frame. He was also superb in blocking drills. Hamilton is not fast but is very polished in all areas of his game. Daurice Fountain/WR/Northern Iowa: Speed was not an issue for Fountain, and neither was catching the ball. Fountain caught the ball very well, except he was doing it at full speed, down the field and running past defenders. I was also impressed by his feistiness and willingness to compete. He leaves Shrine week with a draft grade a full round higher than the one he arrived with in St. Petersburg. |
Re: 2018 NFL Draft Prospects - Saints
If we could get Darius Guice, the best RB in the draft, mark my words, late in the first round, we'd have the grestest RB duo in NFL history. Arden Key in the 2nd gives us the best pass rush DEs in the NFL. DJ Chark in the 3rd and we've got a big speedster who compliments Mike Thomas perfectly. Christian Locotoure is a big, tough NT we'd be lucky to get in the 4th.

Re: 2018 NFL Draft Prospects - Saints
East-West Shrine Game in the books...
Five NFL draft prospects who helped themselves at Shrine Game - NFL.com Daurice Fountain, WR, Northern Iowa Fountain was the most explosive receiver all week during practice and his explosiveness was evident in the game, as well. He finished with three catches for a game-high 61 yards and had a 30-yard punt return, too. Unfortunately, he made a costly drop toward the end of the game, but he generated some big plays for the East team. I love what he did running after the catch. He reminds me of the Rams' Pharoh Cooper, who made the Pro Bowl this season as a kick returner. Kentavius Street, DE, N.C. State Street had a great week of practice and the best get-off of any lineman in the game. The stats won't bear it out, but he was very disruptive on Saturday. He did a lot of his damage coming off the edge, which adds to his value, but I think he'll end up rushing from the inside once he gets to the next level. He's a strong guy, but his game is more about his quickness. He was a little bit overshadowed playing on the same D-line with the more highly touted Bradley Chubb at N.C. State, but Street made the most of his opportunity in the spotlight at the Shrine Game. |
