Damn, just heard we are signing Latavius Murray to a 4 year Deal.....that means Ingram is going elsewhere.

Solid Ingram replacement. Power back. Also that's a nice team friendly contract.

The NFL is a business and I'm sure this won't effect the team. Obviously Ingram priced himself out of the Saints range. Kamara will need a new deal soon anyway. Solid signing by the Saints always liked Murray.

Saints looking at Ansah

EZEKIEL ANSAH
DL, UNSIGNED FREE AGENT

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports free agent DE Ezekiel Ansah will visit the Bills and Saints.
He cannot do that until the new league year opens, so it sounds like it will be a couple of days before Ansah signs. Considering how injuries have derailed his career over the last few seasons, it is not a surprise teams want to take a look at Ansah before committing to a contract.

If true, this could spell the end for Alex Okafor in New Orleans.

Damn.

I think that is overblown (brotherly bond, locker room chemistry...). This team has enough highly respected players like Brees, Jordan, Davis, Unger to have that locker room under control. Yeah, and we don't have Mike Tomlin as a coach. Payton is the man.

Re: 2019 Saints NFL Free Agency

Maybe he didn't wan't to play more as a pass rusher.

True but they had Brees and Jordan when Galette managed to split the locker room.

Since then we were very cautious with acquiring players and extending our guys.

Not at all, but I'm saying that losing an important locker room guy can cause a rift.

Davenport in his first season was rated very highly vs the run.

While I hate the fact that we will lose MI (production & chemistry with AK), it makes too much financial sense with the Murray deal. When healthy, he's essentially a bigger, slightly more powerful version of MI. Paying 7,8M per season appears to be simply out of the question for a RB in New Orleans.

Trust the process.

I think losing a guy has more of an impact when the replacement isn’t as good. Murray hasn’t shown once to be a problem in any locker room. He’ll replace Marks stats. We’ll be able to pay CGM and invest in the rest of the team.

Re: 2019 Saints NFL Free Agency

When healthy Ansah is elite pass rusher. Yes, huge upgrade over Okafor. If there is one year incentive based deal it could benefit both parties. Lately players gamble with 1 year deals and it pays off. (Richardson, Jeffery, Mathieu...)

Still hoping and waiting for a Free agent DT & TE visit to New Orleans. Large holes on both sides of the ball.

To go with those two CBs they stole in last year's draft...

And they'll likely get two great edge rushers compliments of our first round pick Payton carelessly traded away...

Re: 2019 Saints NFL Free Agency

I am waiting on a WR visit. I understand alot of WR's are being overpaid so I just hope we sign a diamond out of the bunch the WR depth is gettting weak outside of Tyrell Cook (TE) and Tate and they will command too much for us.

We probably target Michael Crabtree, Randall Cobb or Rishard Matthews.

I would gamble on Kevin White.

These are the WR deals so far

Adam Humphries WR 26 TB TEN 4 $36,000,000 $9,000,000 $19,000,000 $12,000,000 -

Cole Beasley WR 30 DAL BUF 4 $29,000,000 $7,250,000 $14,400,000 - -

Jamison Crowder WR 26 WAS NYJ 3 $28,500,000 $9,500,000 $17,000,000 - -

John Brown WR 29 BAL BUF 3 $27,000,000 $9,000,000 $11,700,000 $10,100,000 -

Devin Funchess WR 25 CAR IND 1 $10,000,000 $10,000,000 - - -

Josh Bellamy WR 30 CHI NYJ 2 $5,000,000 $2,500,000 $2,750,000 $2,750,000 $1,840,000

Danny Amendola WR 33 MIA DET 1 $4,500,000 $4,500,000 $4,250,000 $4,250,000 $4,484,375

Re: 2019 Saints NFL Free Agency

Ingram's camp was essentially looking for more than a 25% raise doing less work, though he was more effective, efficient in the split backfield...

While I've posted ad nauseam about how much I hated the trade with the Patriots to move back into the first to get him...

I do believe the time, energy in developing him, plus his apparent chemistry with the team is important to keep around...

Ingram's 2018 Cap Number was ~$6.25 mil with base, pro-rated bonus, workout bonus et al...

Now, the NFL Salary Cap per team for 2018 was $177.2 million...

Per CBS Sports, "According to NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy...the 2019 salary cap is projected to range somewhere between $187 million and $191.1 million." -that translates to a five/seven percent increase...

That said, Mark Ingram is now 29yo, he'll turn the dreaded 30 for an NFL RB next season. And there's definitely a shift in the offense from last season...

So I suspect once the cap is officially set, we'll see the team agree on something possibly like a seven to even eight percent increase for Ingram but less guaranteed money as what the team will drive...

Or his new agent may push for him to test the market and that's where it could get interesting - might a team overpay to break-up Saints chemistry? do Saints gamble, bet on a lower number...

Either way, the Saints will resolve quickly the Ingram question to solidify the backfield...

Good luck to Mark and I hope he gets the deal and a starting spot in Baltimore. Loved watch the guy, loads of passion. But the money just isn't there and this is his last big deal so can't blame a man for wanting to secure his family long term future.

This deal makes plenty of sense for everyone.

Like what the Brown's are doing. Got some good players there and could challenge for the playoffs this year. Happy for their fans, got screwed by Modell and the NFL. Got a soft spot for them and would like to see them win in the AFC
