WR Jeff Smith, Boston College; Height: 6' 0"; Weight: 191 lbs Notes: Ran a 4.3 40 at the BC Pro Day, Quick Feet, Sets up Downfield Blocks well, New to the position, converted RB, which explains his YAC skills. Comparable Player: Brandin Cooks (type) The private workout is likely to gauge his personality type, work ethic, film skills, football IQ... |

Damarkus Lodge - WR Ole Miss
(PRO) IMO, he was the best route runner on his team in 2018. Not a burner but can make the difficult catches in space. I can't lie, I'm a bit partial to Lodge because I've watched him grow from a skinny/quite kid in the DFW area, stand out WR for 6A state Cedar Hill champs, then solid college production @ Ole Miss and now a serious NFL pro prospect. He's put in work. I wish him well wherever he lands later this month in the draft. |
Re: 2019 Saints NFL Draft
WalterFootball has got to be one of the worst sites on the internet. That being said, I like this piece of draft buzz:
WalterFootball.com: NFL Hot Press Teams Grade Hakeem Butler on Day 2 "[Butler's] being overrated by the media," said one director of college scouting. The highest grade among those seven teams was a late second-round grade. Others thought Butler could go middle to late Day 2, but many had third-round grades on Butler. That would be a really nice pick at 62. |

Re: 2019 Saints NFL Draft
Taking another stab at a mock draft...
R2P30 OG Nate Davis (Charlotte) *Saints Trade 2019 7th Round Pick (#231) and 2020 2nd Round Pick to Patriots* R3P9 TE Dax Raymond (Utah St) R5P30 WR Gary Jennings (West Virginia) R6P4 DT Chris Slayton (Syracuse) R6P29 ILB Ty Summers (TCU) R7P30 HB Alexander Mattison (Boise St) Oh boy, I can see the outrage now if this is how our draft turned out lol. |

Agreed - I'd come unglued if he was "the" pick in the 2nd round x-(. |
Re: 2019 Saints NFL Draft
Nate Davis barely checks in with the necessary measurables as a Center for us, but certainly not guard, and while quick, he's susceptible to bull rush on the interior - not a good thing for Drew...
Also, Saints usually carry seven to eight offensive linemen (though I'd wished we's carry more) where each player can play no less than two positions, he's not playing guard nor tackle... Reviewing scouting on him several missed, but not NFL.com, that Davis was suspended by the NCAA suspension for four games for undisclosed infractions his Senior Year - not as some 18yo... Re: 2019 Saints NFL Draft
Taylor Rapp, S, Washington
Instinctive & has a nose for the ball. Solid tackler, a gamer & impressive tape. Probably gone in the 1st though. |
Re: 2019 Saints NFL Draft
Tytus Howard - T Alabama State
Heir apparent to Armstead ? Great size/length & has played multiple spots on the line. Possibly a Day2/3 guy. |
Re: 2019 Saints NFL Draft
I believe the guy to replace Armstead is already on the team - Ryan Ramczyk...

Rapp will compete from whistle to whistle; really like him, but his limited athleticism at that position would give me pause to make a push to move and get him... |
Re: 2019 Saints NFL Draft

IIRC he started 3 or 4 games on the left side (as a rookie), then took over on the right for Streif. Ryan is a beast of a tackle. Hindsight is 20/20, but getting this level of talent at pick #32 was stealing. |

Still looking for those late round tackles. |
Re: 2019 Saints NFL Draft
If he could impress enough that he could start right away, I could see him as the new Left Guard or Right Tackle in a trade in the upper/middle second round if he fell past the back-end of the first...

Was he wearing the Sneak Him Through Waivers "FAKE GLASSES/NOSE AND MUSTACHE" disguise or something? |

Re: 2019 Saints NFL Draft
I wouldn't mind us taking Parris Campbell at 62 if available. I have a feeling that we might trade up using next year's first. With cook coming in we don't desperately need a 1st round TE.
IMO Andrus Peat has had long enough to live up to his potential which he hasn't.... and no watches worth almost 10m this year. Needs to be a casualty. Try shoo him see if we can get anything back on him Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk |
Re: 2019 Saints NFL Draft
Don't see Devine Ozigbo falling to the 7th as he's mocked, but if we can take him in the 5th round, he'd be tremendous value on short yardage, but also has the feet, vision, hands of a Pierre Thomas-type...

Re: 2019 Saints NFL Draft
Sixth round target, if Ryan Nielsen think his issues are all coachable...

UCF's Hill has some plus power, but has Red Flags (Attitude); it'll take some covert background work without showing our hand; Payton must know someone at UCF, as we took Tre'quan Smith last year... If we've got to have another pass-catcher at 62, I agree, a Tight End is preferred; though I'd rather move back a few picks, pick up a 4R, and take Warring or Moreau to help this awesome run game we've got... If Zach Allen fell though, I'd be pissed if we didn't nab him; Cam's gonna be thirty and I'd like to start developing his replacement now... |

Parris Campbell - OSU
He went to "Thee" Ohio State so there's that. |
Re: 2019 Saints NFL Draft
OK here's my first pick for the Saints:
Option 1 We pick Kahale Warring, TE, San Diego State Option 2 We pick Yodny Cajuste, C/G, West Virginia and no trade up. It would cost us too much and the picks will be worth a lot more to us in 2020. |
Re: 2019 Saints NFL Draft
Jerry Tillery - DT Notre Dame
Disruptive force who could slide down to round 2. |

This would be a pick out of left field, but Payton's not taking a QB - he's proud of his Bridgewater trophy...

I think the Saints are really interested in Warring. If they don't select a TE in Round 2, do you foresee them trading back (quality TE's in this class) in Rd 3? I'll be shocked if we don't take a TE this year but the million dollar question is in which round?? |
Re: 2019 Saints NFL Draft
Beau Benzschawel - OL
Wisconsin Add another big nasty to the O line. Big, strong & has a high football IQ who could learn a thing or two from Ramz (his former team mate). |
