Really like Anzalone but I don't think he'll remain healthy when it matters most (playoff run) & no certainty we retain AJ Klein & Kiko A.

Demario really needs a solid compliment. Who knows, Ogletree could be that guy.

On the depth chart thread (hint: that's meant for all of us to update/participate) for this year, I went to two LBers (Mike and Rover) as we're mostly in at least a nickel in over 50% of the plays...

Most LBers we've kept in three years is six (6) and most play on kick coverage units anyhow...

And yes DeMario - Ogletree would be potent...

He'll be 29yo in late September; prefer younger, and we have younger already, but with limited bullets in the draft (Thanks Sean) and holes at LG, WRF, CB, and Mike, he'd be a great short-term rental...

Chris did mention the tag on Brandon though.

Why would the Deadskins want to use a large chunk of their salary cap (at min 15M) to keep him when many close to the organization (Charlie Casserly/D Williams) believe that they saw enough of the rookie Wes Martin?

I'm still hopeful that they don't use the tag on Scherff.

Keep an eye on the tag deadline date .. 3/12/20.

The Kansas City Chiefs will use the franchise tag on defensive tackle Chris Jones, sources told Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

For whatever reason I thought he had been around longer. I would love to see him in a Saints uni. Bring it on. Maybe I’m in the minority but I’m fine with our CB situation, even more so if we keep Jackrabbit. Wouldn’t hurt my feelings if we do some spending at LB.

Wouldn't mind adding Campbell from the Clowns to the lb'ers core. Would be a great addition.

If this is true there’s no reason why we can’t go buck wild in free agency this year and back-load contracts.

This is exactly what I have been preaching about over the past several months. The cap is going to SKYROCKET under the new CBA with the combination of the increased player percentages and the addition of all of the new revenue sources. All of this talk about salary limitations is totally uninformed.

I stated a couple of weeks ago that the cap will reach the area of $300 million by 2025 and I am even more sure that will happen ... and beyond.

Do not worry about what we pay anyone and let Loomis keep "kicking the can".

Agreed. Different discussion if Harris is three years younger, then again, we're not affording him three years ago either; not with Lattimore set for a big contract day...

If Vonn Bell leaves and CJGJ replaces him at SS, we’ll need a nickel CB. I’d extend Janoris AND sign Chris Harris Jr to man the nickel spot.

Chris, don't see how we could afford that, and we still need to sign a LG and a WRF at the least...

Plus, at Harris' age of (31yo when season begins) that'd be a big gamble and doubt he'd have the stamina to give us 16 games the whole game...

And don't forget, Janoris turns 32yo in October...

Personally, that’s why I really want to keep Vonn Bell. That allows us to keep CJGJ at nickel and our secondary is all set. It all hinges on Bell though.

Yeah, but we've already been in deficit spending mode to cover Brees the last eight years, and we've got Lattimore, Ramczyk that are going to be two huyuge cap spikes...

That's not addressing Mr. Marcus, nor Taysom who may get assessed with a first round pick value...

But are we allowed to back-end contracts before the cap is known for future seasons? In other words, will the Commish approve contracts for future seasons above the current cap?

Yes. We've been doing that for years. And, besides, those later years for the most part haven't been guaranteed anyway. Teams are over future caps all the time because there is no such thing as a future cap. That's why several teams are forced to cut contracts every year to get under the current year's cap.

It just seemed the League Office didn't approve a couple of contracts a couple of times because it would have put us over the cap in future seasons...

They had to have been denied for another reason. Nick Easton's contract was rejected at first but not sure of the reason. I read where it might have been a cap issue in that year or just a "language" issue. Two years ago Jayrone Elliott and Josh Huff had contracts rejected for us but they had issues with the roster limit. I've read that certain incentives can cause contracts to be rejected. That makes sense since you can "incentivize" pretty much anything thus leading to foggy language.

Former "Thee" Ohio State buckeye.

He's a lock to sign in New Orleans :p.

Norwell would be 29 in the middle of the season...

Like the thinking, but he's really dropped off from the elite LG he once was...

I'd rather spend big on Brandon Scherff, move Warford to LG or onto another roster...

I keep hearing Scherff will be getting the franchise tag. He's not going anywhere.

Lots of respect for Rivera (thought it was a big mistake for Carolina to dismiss him), but many players seek to get out of the Redskins because of Syder's management style and the miserable atmosphere...

Will they be any legit guards or cbs left at 24. Because I know we’re not going WR. Not in our DNA but I won’t be mad with a good LB either. Might be pissed If he passes on a Jefferson or ruggs though

I'll be shocked if either is still on the board @ #24. If the Saints are truly interested in either player, they may have to make moves to get em.

Personally, I see us drafting a kid no one is really talking about @ #24 .. assuming we don't trade up.

As for guards, I don't see any Quenton Nelson types in this draft. At least not 1st round worthy.

That’s what I’m hearing also unless there’s a sleeper we’re looking at it’s going to be crap shoot to what Payton /Mick or thinking. I’m in for trading back if that’s what’s going to happen.
