St. T ...

Keep an eye out for the kid (WR) out of Baylor .. Denzell Simms. Sound player worth noting & can win a lot of the 50/50 contested catches.

In the later rounds I could see us taking a flyer on Van Jefferson out of Florida. His stock took a hit (Chris posted a link that he fractured his foot) since he was not able to participate in the combine. IMO the kid runs good routes, has good hands & that's always a plus.

Collins will be 31yo mid season this year, Ogletree will be 29you at the beginning of the season -I'll take Ogletree in Free Agency, Alex...

In truth, I'd like to have a proven, productive, more durable solution at the Mike, I'd like to see us sign Joe Schobert...

+1.

You've been beating the drum on Joe for a while now. Is he an upgrade over AJ? Maybe we go LB @ #24? Patrick Queen could be there. Local kid, good hips, has good instincts & he's always around the ball.

On the flip side, I don't think we touch a linebacker in the 1st round. Stephone Anthony was our last go at it but unfortunately it didn't translate over to the next level.

Over Klein? Definitely. Look at the durability and production (won't cite PFF grade ;)), also Younger, Faster, Stronger, Better...

And he'd be a great quarterback for the defense, freeing up our Rover, Davis, to just ball out even more...

Just my opinion but the Saints O line played better with EASTON at left guard than Andrus Peat ... specifically in pass protection.

Let someone else over pay for an inconsistent lineman. Brees needs another mauler who doesn't get pushed around every other game.

If Brandon gets the tag, I hope we at least reach out to Joe Thuney. IMO he's a major upgrade over Peat.

One overlooked aspect of the playoff loss was Peat starting that game. Peat was sidelined with injuries since week 11. Peat got a little playing time in week 17, but the playoff start was his first against real opponents in 8 games. Meanwhile Easton started and our offense was on a roll, all of our best offensive performances came with Easton in the lineup. Somehow Payton thought it was a great idea to put Peat back in coming off injuries and sucking in general, to face one of the best D-lines in football....

Well we saw how that ended, Non-stop pressure in Brees and no holes to run through.

Damn, c'mon Coach Payton.

I’d be ok with signing LB Jamie Collins. His age doesn’t concern me as he’s nine months younger than Demario Davis. Speaking of Demario Davis, he was teammates with Jamie Collins in 2016 in Cleveland. If Demario signs off then let’s do it.

Demario would be signing off with an inside scouting report on a player of three years ago - naturally Payton heavily weighs this, but it'd be a mistake as the reference is not current & overly personal...

IMO Jamie would be an upgrade at the position.

Brees84 has been beating the drum on him landing in NO for some time now.

JP - let's re-visit these two ...

Do we really want to "gamble" on yet another guy with knee/torn ACL issues? Isn't this #2 or 3 tear for Hunter?

Agholor aka hands of stone ... we already have one (Ginn Jr) on the team. Nelson has been hot and cold his entire career in Philly. Not a good pick for Tater "Chip" Kelly. I'd say hard pass on both of these guys even if they'd come cheap.

Brees needs legit toys to work with.

Thinking on these two; first, I'd like to see us look at the medicals for Henry and find out if he's injury prone or if there's something else because he's a tremendous athletic Tight End that could have a JG-impact...

Second, if Agholor could be had for $2-3Mil, he'd be an affordable upgrade to what we have now; the top WR guys are either real old or would take so much coin to sign, we'd be out on LG & LB...

Plus, it hides a hole come NFL Draft where we can get that true WRZ, No. 2 guy, then Nelson could be a mismatch advantage for the Saints in the slot...

How would he be an upgrade if he can't catch a damned ball?

No. An added bonus is that he's played CENTER = versatility. Tremendous value.

I do believe the Saints will draft a lineman in later rounds though.

Re: 2020 NFL Free Agency: New Orleans Saints

I just don't think there will be much CAP space left to bring in a high priced FA on the O-line. Easton played well when given the shot, plant him at LG and let him build some chemistry.

I would rather see us pay to keep Brees and Hill together, restructure some other contracts and pick up a DT or two.

WR/LB/OT/G in the draft and we are good.

There is plenty of cap space that can be easily cleared. I shared an article a few weeks back that pointed out how the Saints could free up about $54 million through roster moves, roster bonus conversions, extensions and other contract manipulations.

And assuming we would be "good" is assuming that we hit paydirt on every one of those picks. The majority of players picked through the draft never pan out for one reason or another.

I don’t think we’ll have much choice honestly. The only real upgrade on the market is Thuney and he’s expected to get about $15 mil/year.

That’s good to hear, and I don’t doubt it. Mickey knows how to move numbers around and make the best of it. I would just hate to overpay for someone if we have a player on the roster that’s worth giving a shot to. Easton can only get better playing in the system longer and next to the same guys.

Personally I would much rather have a big nasty pass rushing DT in free agency.

Ginn has better hands than him.
The amount of times he was in place to get the Eagles a win down the stretch last year just to drop the ball. He's awful, all the tools and couldn't catch a cold

He's got his ring, so it's about the coin now; Scherff staying in the DC sh*t-show makes no sense; he had a Top 5 Draft contract and has to aspire for a Superbowl Ring...

Dysfunction comes to mind.

Last I read, the Deadskins are "trying" to work out a long term deal with Brandon to avoid the franchise tag.

Tag deadline is quickly approaching ... 3/12/20.

With the NFLPA pushing the CBA voting deadline back to 11:59 Saturday 14th I just heard that the league is considering pushing back the tag deadline, as well.
