Kiko 3rd acl? Likely not going to make the cut.

Two things to keep in mind...

First, we've amassed some talent at LBer now; while we can debate Anzalone's health, there's Kaden Elliss as well as Chase Hansen, who had a fourth round grade till a lingering college injury hurt his draft stock...

Second, we're in 4-3 under less than a 1/3 of the time (that's probably generous); the nickel is really the base defense now and other than kick coverage, the modern game has relegated 3 or more LBers obsolete...

And we've got fourth, fifth, sixth round picks where we can add a fifth, maybe sixth LBer that would have talent not only on special teams, but on kick coverage...

Now, Robinson is older, but we have Demario, Anzalone, Kiko, Robinson, Ellis all rested up coming back already that can play base defense as well; not that a LBer can have an impact, but DB, DE is more important...

I hear you however on paper ... collectively, the linebacker position as a group isn't all that impressive. Then + add in we've lost the best LB coach in the business.

It gets really old when we have to rely on lower round/undrafted players or guys who are always injured. Elliss is essentially still a rookie, coming off a knee tear & Craig is SLOW. Who knows how many games we'll get out of Anzalone.

We know how the Saints like to "trade up" to get their guy ... Isaiah Simmons or Murray could be that player in 2020 draft.

Gotta get faster at the position. Demario needs help.

Understood, but I feel like we need to have the capability to go 4-3 to deal with the run. Also, smart teams killed us to the outside with sweeps and tosses. We have to get faster from sideline to sideline. I know Anzalone can do it, but he has to stay on the field. If any position was weak this year, it was LB’er.

I looked back at the few games alozone played he’s pretty good sideline to sideline. but up the gut on him he’s kind of tunnel vision and he gets knocked out of a play by not fighting thru some blocks.

Possibly. We upgraded regardless.

I like the move. It's time to change things up in the secondary anyway.

This team desperately needs leadership on the back end.

You need a veteran presence and Jenkins is smart & can still play.

I am ok with Jenkins. Getting a little old. Hope we find a way to keep Bell.

FWIW, Jenkins graded higher than Bell last year

I really do like this signing, the last 3 Seasons the team lost in the playoffs after giving up big plays in the passing game. Worse comes to worse he adds veteran leadership

Makes sense to keep Bell too if not to pricey

Payton rights the wrong he’s always regretted. Jenkins will slide right in at SS and Gardner-Johnson can keep the nickel CB spot locked down.

** ^^^^ This right here 83.

Sean P/Dennis Allen value veteran leadership on the back end. A smart guy who understands coverages, assignments & disguises. Losing (specifically the secondary) late has cost us W's & premature exits in the playoffs. Leadership on the back end is welcomed & necessary.

Another "Thee" Ohio State Buckeye so you knew it was a lock :p.

Jenkins will be 33yo by season's end - - there's a reason Philly let him go...

He's smart and it's the mental breakdowns that have killed us the last three years. Everyone always wants to get younger....I want to get smarter on D and this signing would go a long way toward solidifying a good defense.

It's more about money than ability with MJ.

Watch how Philly's secondary unravel on the back end in 2020 without him.

I'm not surprised :brood:. The tape says he's a below average guard.

Dude got exposed a lot & the fact that he's had little interest is telling.

If he would devote his asre to the club he could move up to a c- guard which would be depth

All of this restructuring has got to be opening a big chuck of cap space. Who the big fish we are trying to bring in?

Give me Perriman and Golden.

Re: 2020 NFL Free Agency: New Orleans Saints

Perriman is younger Ginn. Deep threat with drop issues. This draft is loaded with WR talent. Signing Perriman this off season won't be very smart idea.
