The problem is that it is impossible to have a calm rational conversation because as a rule the conversations are motivated by emotion, not metrics. Metrics have no empathy but they are the real deal. When metrics are used, and it is impossible to argue with metrics. The quickest way to reverse the conversation is to bring it back to a personal level, such are saying "shutup you racist". The ability to say I agree to disagree with your opinion, without it becoming personal, is somehow lost. The hypocrisy in only wanting to hear an opinion that only aligns with your own is pathetic.

Two examples of metrics, shedding rational light on an irrational situation, would be more than 800,00 sworn in officers so the % of incidence with bad cops is super low, yes I get it one is too many. The 40 unarmed killings of citizens by police officers last year, with 19 of those being white folks and 9 being black folks, yes there is a smaller % of black folks in the country. I am only using these examples and not saying this is the root cause of the anger, and ignoring the fact that this event was only fuel to the fire.

Lest we forget, we are in a election year, and much of this fits a narrative, and the media is the worst offender. Hotbed issues always become hotter during election years.

As bigotry and racism is accused of painting with broad strokes and lumping all folks, say of color, into one category based on the actions of one individual, I think we should be careful of doing the same within a profession ie. law enforcement.

No one, and I mean no one, thought that the Minny cop was in line in his actions. We ALL agreed with this and it was a great opportunity to unite, but that is not the way this ultimately played out as can be observed by the destruction in our cities.

Racism will sadly always exist, it is impossible to tell people how to think. So many times, the "Golden Rule" is forgotten. Giving respect goes a long way to receiving respect.

I could go on and on, but all I am doing is making the hollow feeling in my heart feel better, and it really isn't helping with that either.

Don't want em to get your goat don't show em where it's hid.

Agree. Though I would say it's not only metrics/facts are always the answer. Statistics, polls and facts that seem somewhat scientific can be cherry-picked, distorted or presented in a vacuum of confirmation bias. The art of debate has been skewed by social media and hot takes. Real debate and rational conversation is focused on the receiver, not the messenger. The argument needs to be presented in an objective manner; often that is even more important than the facts. It is seldom to change someone's mind outright, but how can I plant a seed to expand their view?

Well boys...

My entertainment value for football is quickly fading. I was planning on making a few trips this year to catch at least 2 games (assuming covid isn’t a issue), but that won’t happen. At this point I am not sure how much football I’ll be watching.

I just can’t stand the outrage culture and utter disregard for logical solutions and debate on real issues. It’s all devolved into defunding the police which is something I could never support. More training for officers is needed, so the answer is to defund and have less training?? Makes no sense, no logic involved there.

I wish you all the best. Hope all of you stay safe.

The Saints are 0-42 when running the ball less than 15 times in a game.

Brittany Brees said today "we are the problem" 😅🤣😂

The story above demonstrates more about the white people problem. I just can't figure out why things never change. Almost like blaming qhite people isn't fixing anything. Go figure. Almost like the problem could be something else...just can't put my finger on it

I feel you bro. People go to sports to forget about life for a little, now you're injecting politics into sports. I don't think this will end well for the NFL long term.

This will stop as soon as there is a natural disaster that kills a bunch of people and then the topic will switch. Kind of like the pandemic.

Its all BS. Just make sure you have a gun or get one.
