I heard the 49er's want to pay him as a WR/RB, but he wants straight WR money which would be a considerable chunk more.

NFL.com reported that Deebo was unhappy with his role in the 49ers Offense.

If you think about it, playing at RB has a much higher probability that you have a shortened career. It's in my opinion the most physically demanding position.

Deebo is trying protecting his future here and wanting to play WR alone.

They referenced that NFL.com report on NFL Radio today when they said that he has said on several occasions that he "embraced the role" of WR/RB while even calling it "Wide Back".

San Francisco 49ers' Deebo Samuel created his own position: 'Wide back'

That's where I heard he had no issue playing the hybrid position, but had an issue with the lessor pay related to it once contracts talks began.

Nice sign, J-E-T-S; and they're also going have Carl Lawson join them...

The mega-deal Christian Kirk received this off-season ignited everything at the WR spot.

Not buying what NFL.com is reporting...

What player wouldn't want an OC trying to find ways to put the ball in his hands?

Now, Deebo may want a different passer, but doesn't want to burn bridges with current teammates...

Or there could be an issue that in the passing progression he may be behind TE George Kittle...

Granted, his stats jumped in 2021 to 59 RuAtt, but he scored 8 RuTDs with 365 RuYds; most WRs don't have 8 ReTDs on a season...

My money is it's either posturing for bigger paycheck...

Per the experts, Kirk and Chark were supposed to go for the same value - JAX went crazy, Saint target-fixated on Deshaun Watson, and the Lions got a steal in Chark...

I thought I saw somewhere that Clapp was going to be re-signing with the Saints. Maybe I just imagined it. Or something.

Unless we draft a WR in the 5/6 we feel really good about, sign Cole Beasley. He is a great system WR who gets open and plays his role well in the 3WR and 4WR sets. He'd be a great piece to round out our receiving corps.

It’s interesting Neugey, if you compare The Beas’ production from his first four years in the league with T Smith’s first four years they are very similar. I realize they are different types of receivers. Just thinking that if Smith is our 4th best WR instead of being our second best he may be OK.

All the more reason to depend upon two veterans like Maye and Mathieu over a rookie at safety. Maye and Mathieu also give Allen flexibility with both having split time at free and strong safety positions in the past. This defense is going to continue giving offensive coordinators ulcers.

I was thinking the same about Hicks.I wonder how much he still has to offer. If he’s still got it I think I’d rather him over Landry if we can’t have both.
Can you imagine that d line with that secondary

Can you imagine Davenport and Jordan coming off the edge since they'd be freed up a bit ? Hicks isn't the same player but is still effective.

IMO we could use the depth.

17 game season is brutal.

Isn't Nielsen already rotating the defensive line (now that we've got that talent, coaching) like hockey lines already so the big dogs can eat in the 4th quarter?
