If Johnson is healthy ( and I think he is) he's going to make noise. Smart move bringing him in after running behind a bad O line with a bad Texans team for a couple years. Could be a steal on a FA.

Re: 2022 NFL Free Agency: New Orleans Saints

Johnson and Kelemente are both players that I think can help the team. Johnson could possibly hold down the fort if Kamara is suspended. He could also split time with Ingram who I believe is the defacto number two RB.

If Kelemente still has gas in the tank we could sure use him if we continue with the injuries from last year. But I'm not too worried about team health with Dr. Rhea on board applying science to the training program designed for each player.

Quite possible. Either that or keeping him on speed dial after week one.

I think it would have happened by now if it was going to happen. Too bad I liked him on our D. Well, if he stays unsigned I could easily see him back if something unfortunate happens to our LB's.

I actually like the depth that we have developed on the practice squad. Several of the young linebackers are making noise at mini camp.

I predict a pickup, either from some other team’s cuts or a mid round draft pick trade, for some RB help. I’ve heard Carson’s name from Seattle mentioned before. The Seahawks seem to have a deep backfield.

Hadn't seen it posted anywhere so ...

New Orleans Saints sign tight end Brandon Dillon.

Probably a camp body.

Who? I never heard of him Which is probably why he's available. I'm definitely glad that the front office sees where our weaknesses are and is addressing them.

I love Payton, but Drew spoiled him with making WR's look better than they are. We desperately needed a face lift in the WR room and DA went after players aggressively to fill that void. Now we may need to consider trading for a TE or waiting to poach one off the practice squad or waivers.

They may want to evaluate what they have in camp first; but I wouldn't be surprised to see him re-signed...

Linebackers as a whole get F'd on their contracts...

Likely Trade Targets, Position of Need
  • Right Guard, Starter

  • Running Back, RB2

  • Tight End, Reserve

Werner will be better if only because he is available. Kwon looks better flying around the field and his energy is infectious but he does have a tendency to miss assignments and tackles.

Don't see the Saints RB2 on the roster...

Can't dispute some of that, and while it may seem I'm a hypocrite considering my default position is to go younger, I'd still rather have Kwon as a rotational LBer...

That said, there are some interesting options already on the roster this season and while he's a poor fit in this defense, this is Zach Baun's third season...

Also, expect Kaden Ellis to make a big leap for us this season...

We've got talent in the building but I'm worried about Baun ever fitting into this 4-3 system with his body type. The front office should use him to acquire more picks next year when we have fewer draft picks.

Lot of aged running backs here, none really blow my hair back. Hopefully the #2 RB is already in the building.

Jordan Howard is the only remaining FA RB on that list I'd be interested...

Maaaybe I worry that a lot of his production came because of the threat of Hurts running

I’m still thinking/hoping for a trade or pickup after roster cuts start happening.

Look, he was a force when in Chicago; Nagy was a moron for not going with the running game and playing with stout that defense...

Instead, he was putting in Tarik Cohen, who's good, but too many 3 and outs and letting teams back in the second half; a MNF game vs the Packers comes to mind...

Rez, McKinnon definitely has flashed, but with his age (30), mileage, and injury history, doubt we could count on him for six (6) games, if it turns out to be Kamara's suspension...

Darrell Williams made too much sense to me.

Oh well.

Saint's front office will figure out something.

I have to admit he's not on my radar, as the years go by I get less interested in non Saints football. I pulled up his 2021 highlights and on just about every one of them he wasn't even touched until he got at the very least the 2nd level which made me wonder. I'm not above kicking tires.
