Heres what he has the Saints doing and I think wed be very pleased:

28. New Orleans Saints- LB Jabril Cox, LSU
Analysis: Barring a massive trade and a lot of assets trading hands, the Saints head into the offseason without an expected starting quarterback.

With no quarterbacks on the board who can become the replacement to Drew Brees, the Saints are likely to rely on the return of Jameis Winston and Taysom Hill to solve the quarterback position.

So where do you go with pick No. 28 overall? You address the defense.

Jabril Cox was hard to miss at LSU thanks to his 64, 245 pound frame and ability as a lockdown coverage linebacker when matched up against tight ends and backs. He shined once again during Senior Bowl week and secured his position as a Round 1 talent.

The former North Dakota State star has the athletic tools, coverage traits and instincts the NFL craves for linebackers.

60. New Orleans Saints
The Pick: CB Elijah Molden, Washington
Previous Pick: LB

U sure they not from Ohio state[emoji12]

NDSU QB Trey Lance is incredible. Obviously I dont know how high his football IQ is but theres so much talent there. He played under center in a pro-style offense and has an absolute cannon for an arm. The only thing I havent seen yet is if he can throw with touch on the RB check downs.

Not to mention his mobility!

Re: 2021 NFL Draft: New Orleans Saints

My major needs are OT, LB'er, CB, or safety depending on who we re-sign. We desperately need depth along the line. Kwon is out and we need another LB'er with side line to side line speed who arrives with bad intentions. We may not be able to re-sign Jack rabbit and the safeties are good but we may miss Williams if we can't afford to out bid the best offer.

Outside of Lattimore, Saints are getting up in age at CB. I could see us going defense at pick #28.

Maybe a LB in round 2.

Tyson Campbell - CB Georgia Bulldogs

Kris Richard could polish him up into a bona fide boundary corner.

Re: 2021 NFL Draft: New Orleans Saints

Jaycee Horn - CB South Carolina

Good size, willing tackler & solid football skills/IQ. Opted out remainder of 2020 after November. In case you are wondering, Jaycee is the son of former Saints WR Joe Horn.

Last time we took a "Molden" at CB it didn't work out too well. ;)

Pass on Mac Jones especially at #28.

Jabril Cox - LB (notice I featured his tape from his previous college before transferring to LSU :p ). Maybe we'll give him a legitimate look in the draft. Definitely a player I like if he falls to round #2.

Seriously speaking though - solid skill level. Makes good decisions, can throw a guy open etc however today's NFL is so different now at QB.

If I'm a GM/scout potentially picking a QB in the first, I have to ask "what can you bring to an offense that no one else can?" Take the top QB's in our new NFL Mahommes, Josh Allen, Russ Wilson, Desean Watson, Justin Hebert, Burrow (pre injury), Kyler Murray. There is a pattern here. Guys with strong arms, elusive and can create when things break down. Game changers. I'll take a small bit of accuracy away if I can find a guy who can do what no other player on the planet can do at the position.

Mac could become a decent QB in the NFL but I'm not betting the farm on it. Those clean pockets days of playing at Bama are gone once he transitions to the NFL.

At pick #28, I look for "special" if we are selecting a QB in the first. An elite, franchise player and not just a serviceable guy.

That's just me.

Major, have you watched much of QB Trey Lance? He fits that description to a T.

Small sample size but I like Trey as a NFL pro prospect a lot. Probably more so than Wentz coming out.

Anticipates well, lots of velocity on his throws but he can throw accurately while under serious duress. A term I like to call "staring down the barrel". He's only 20 years old  !

There is the element of the "it" factor with Trey. Super athletic, tough and a play maker. I think he'll have a lot of success at the next level.

I just don't believe the Saints would give Trey a 1st round "look" due to covid season. Hopefully he stays out of the NFC South (Carolina).

Stranger things have happened though.

Just not sold on Mac at the next level. Especially in the 1st. As your franchise QB. I don't see 1st rd ability. Is he really that good or a product of a great Alabama college system? For whatever reason, Bama QB's have a hard time transitioning at the NFL level of play.

I'd rather go defense (CB, LB) or O lineman.

That's just me :bng:

Senior Bowl participant. Saints will be very high on him.

You guys are obviously more informed about college players than I am (thanks for the info you pass). I was wondering, especially as it relates to Mac, the extremely different conditions that they played in this year adds an extra level of uncertainty while evaluating, doesnt it. Playing at LSU or at Florida etc without the normal pressure having fans in the stands makes is tougher to evaluate a players poise.

Daviyon Nixon - DT IOWA

Rankins (Free Agent) replacement perhaps? Nixon is a disruptor.

The DT position is getting a lot of attention from the Saints so far in this pre-draft process. It makes sense too... when youre paying big money to Onyemata (deservedly) you need to supplement the position with cheaper rookie contracts.

Re: 2021 NFL Draft: New Orleans Saints

We nailed the 2017 draft. The rest of our drafts have been both small and not nearly as productive. Almost everyone we drafted is playing on another team. We have had limited holes recently and quality over quantity has been our MO. Anzalone and Peat are not busts but we need better.

We must absolutely nail this draft. No more drafting to move a player to a new position in the pros. Draft one that doesn't need as much training. Baun currently looks like a waste. He may improve but we can't count on that. Ireland and the draft department need to rethink their drafting process and get back to what they did in 2017.

When you read a moch draft and think someone really doesn't have a clue what they are on about

https://media.tenor.com/images/5d6cc...b77d/tenor.gif

The Saints need to continue to improve their secondary, as their pass defense was a weakness in 2019

Top 5 for yards against
1st interceptions
2 for pass completion

Now thats not to say a Safety might be the pick due to probably losing Marcus Williams but come on now, if you going to write this stuff for a living do your homework

Nah he will be gone top 10. Mac Jones is the only one that might drop but even then I think it will be a trade up

I develop a better feel for these players the more ya'll post. My current feeling is that Mac Jones plays well in a perfect system and may have a low ceiling and floor. However, the Saints have a nearly perfect system for QB's in New Orleans so he may fit. But is he a franchise QB?.

Depends what people mean and want by a Franchise QB
A Brees, Manning or Brady maybe not. Could easily be in that tier below though, especially as Sean would build a system around him. If he's there at 28 I'd make the pick. Doubt he will be. Reckon all the top QB are gone by 20
