The Saints have let go of several players this offseason, including cornerback Janoris Jenkins. With their first-round selection, the sim has New Orleans taking his replacement in Ifeatu Melifonwu. A rare physical specimen with salivating movement skills, pairing him with Marcus Lattimore could be fearsome.

Not bad... Can Mac Jones slip to round 2 or 3?

What QBs are coming out next year worth a chit?

So I知 assuming the first three picks go:

1. Jags- QB Trevor Lawrence
2. Jets- QB Zach Wilson
3. 49ers- QB Justin Fields

The Failclowns are sitting there at 4 with their choice of any non-QB in the draft. Just imagine if they took Kyle Pitts.

I'd rather go LBer, DT3, RT and target Stanford CB Paulson Adebo in the 3rd round; start the season with P-Rob/P.J. opposite Lattimore, if he's available...

They're going Penei Sewell at that point and giving Ryan a full 0.5 sec more per play; if they don't trade back some and grab a CB1...

If the Saints bring in TJ Carrie & ultimately sign him, I think that would spell the end of PRob in New Orleans.

TJ is much more of a slot guy than boundary corner.

Okay, this was on Draft Network Mock with no trades...

Rounds One and Two couldn't have been better, securing immediate starters for CB2 and WLB (Demario to the Mike)...

Tylan Wallace nearly fell to me in round 3, taken five picks earlier; an immediately plug 'n play WRz...

But was thrilled to find Hunter Long just sitting there - a huge get; makes those TE-jumbo packages exciting...

Tyler Shelving is terrific value for a dominating NT1; massive, young, athletic NT for the next four years on a rookie contract...

Jaelan Darden would provide depth behind Deonte Harris; could see lining them up on opposite sides of the field for WR-Double-Bubble-Option packages - had to do it...

Josh Ball could be ready in a season at RT - perfect project for Zach Strief to mentor, unload Terron Armstead's contract, unavailability issues...

Tyler Coyle would be a steal at SS; makes Jenkins expendable by mid-season...

I could die a happy man JP! That draft would be incredible. You know I love Newsome and DeMario looked great last season at Mike when Kwon was at Will so plugging in Cox at Will would be fantastic.

Re: 2021 NFL Draft: New Orleans Saints

I took a 3 round spin on it and here痴 what I did...

28. CB Eric Stokes (Georgia)

60. LB Jabril Cox (LSU)

98. DT Jay Tufele (USC)

105. DE Patrick Jones II (Pitt)

I知 still not sold on Stokes being a first round talent but I知 not a know-it-all.

I doubt Payton will avoid drafting an offensive player for the first three rounds. It痴 just not his nature.

Absolutely right. At this point our first round pick pretty much has to be CB. After that, I could see WR and TE being in the mix on day 2.

"We" have no clue right now what our picks have to be or might possibly be. We'll all find out when the draft actually happens. I guess I can kind of understand how y'all get into this pre-draft stuff. It keeps you involved. It's your version of off-season fantasy football.

As an old fart I'm not into wishing time moves faster, but whenever the draft does happen I'll be watching and hoping that every pick works out.

To make it interesting for me, Chris, I'll bet you that our first pick won't be a CB. :D

Like Patrick Jones alot as well - he'd be a great fit behind Cam next season...

We could still take a CB2 in Round 2 or 3, so I'd qualify your argument that we'd take a CB2 with a Day 1 or early Day 2 pick - 100%...

Wouldn't be surprised if we actually trade back into Round 2 and pick up some more quality depth and perhaps another starter...

Sean has a tendency of not doing the obvious because he hates being predictable, even if it's in the team's best interest...

Perhaps those that are actually doing the drafting has the team's best interest different than yours, JP.

Could be. Just saying.

Even if it means NOT picking an LSU player who can help better than a talent from another school.

Not sold on Pitts that high - getting deja vu of Vernon Davis...

Round 3 Pick 16 (L.V.): Quinn Meinerz, OG/C, Wisconsin-Whitewater

Round 3 Pick 41 (COMP): Chuba Hubbard, RB, Oklahoma State
Round 5 Pick 4 (ATL): Josh Imatorbhebhe, WR/TE, Illinois
Round 5 Pick 38 (ATL): Ifeatu Melifonwu, CB, Syracuse

4.3 was his 40 time and his game day tape supports that. Day 2 guy that may help a team right away. Not the biggest WR but he's a SEC dawg.

Side note - CB Caleb Farley from VA Tech. Was not able to work out due to recent back procedure however many scouts see him as a 1st round talent. Some say he's the best CB in this class. I'll be curious to see if he falls in the draft due to his medical.

Farley falls to us, Sean Payton will ignore the medicals and just go...

Risky as hell. Especially in the 1st round.

Maybe we go LEFT TACKLE (eventual successor for Armsteaad) at pick #28 :p ??

Re: 2021 NFL Draft: New Orleans Saints

Today is LSU's Pro Day ... 3/31/2021

Notable names ....

Jabrill Cox - LB
Tyler Shelvin - DB
Terrance Marshall Jr- WR
Jamarr Chase - WR
Karey Vincent Jr - DB
Jacoby Stevens - DB

LSU homer glasses off here ... the entire Saints front office need to make that quick trip to Baton Rouge and spot interview/check out their footwork speed etc for confirmation.

LSU players continue to transition well to the NFL, every single year.

Cox, Marshall, & even Stevens could help us on Sundays.

K Major 03-31-2021 09:48 AM

Re: 2021 NFL Draft: New Orleans Saints

Jacoby Stevens - DB LSU

Mid round grades, has range, tackles well in space & has good change of direction. Proven performer against the best in the SEC. Malcolm Jenkins is at the end of his career ... we could use another SS.

Figured Ramczyk likely will succeed the LT spot - This year I'd trade with one of the teams with a young QB, get a next year 1st and a R2 this year for Armstead...
