Actually prefer LSU LBer Jabril Cox in Round 2 anyways...

Asante Samuel Jr - CB ... yes, his father also played CB at a high level in the league. Possibly a nickel corner in the NFL.

Scored a 6.42 RAS out of the possible 10. This ranks him 625 out of 1744 CB from 1987 - 2021. He measured out at 5'10 / 180 ... kind of "smallish", will need more bulk - see Greedy Williams.

I've been thinking that if Najee Harris fell into our laps and we became a run first team, I wouldn't be mad at it. Kamara and Najee all day long. I think not only does it help out Jameis, it can hide our deficiencies at WR/TE while allowing our OL to do what OL like to do most... maul people.

Looking at the roster outlook in the other thread, our depth defensively is concerning. An elite running game can help mask that as well. I'm glad we got all these compensation picks.

You like Harris over Etienne (Clemson) as well ? Etienne & AK together would seem like a nightmare too. His initial burst is so impressive to me.

But Najee is a dawg though ... and big. The way he can break tackles is incredible. Most Bama RB's show up on Sundays.

I'm really curious to see who we take at pick #28.

Yea I like Harris over Etienne more due to the fact he's a contrast to AK as you pointed out. They'd compliment each other a lot better IMO.

Only one flaw in y'all's theory - Sean has to run the damn ball...

Yep. Was taunting the hand size thing, especially Pelissero...

The more it seems that Jaycee Horn may not be there for us at No. 28, assuming we stay disciplined, the more I warm to idea of Eric Stokes as our CB2...

I'll be interested to see how much SP relies on the input from Coach Kris Richard if in fact we lean towards CB @ pick #28.

If Newsome, Molden or Horn are off the board, there may be a kid Kris likes on Day 2. Cameron Danztler of the Vikes & Trevon Diggs/Cows come to mind. 2nd and 3rd round selections in 2020 but both played well as rookies in the #2 CB spot.

First off, Sean Payton needs to stay away from the defensive draft board! Secondly, Richard may be very good at spotting talent like Ireland is and we'll be back to full strength on defense in no time.

Re: 2021 NFL Draft: New Orleans Saints

I see Jeff Ireland was at SC pro workout ...

Jaycee Horn had a 41 1/2 vert :o & 11 1/2 broad jump.

4.39 40. All of this was simply confirmation. Watch his tape.

Numbers good enough to be the first CB taken in the upcoming draft.

Jaycee Horn will be gone in the top half of the first round. We can start forgetting about landing him.

Still haven’t gotten around to watching much Eric Stokes... or Tyson Campbell for that matter.

ChrisXVI 03-25-2021 09:00 PM

Re: 2021 NFL Draft: New Orleans Saints

So I’ve watched some Eric Stokes and outside of the big three (Surtain, Farley and Horn)... I can confidently say that Greg Newsome is still the next best CB.

Re: 2021 NFL Draft: New Orleans Saints

Caleb Farley's 1st round stock could drop ... he had a back procedure (microdiscectomy) earlier this week & will miss his pro day on tomorrow. Opting out of the 2020 season, limited tape and missing his pro day could loom large on his day 1 draft status. I expect many to take him off their board completely.

Two back surgeries in a 2 year span is concerning.

Re: 2021 NFL Draft: New Orleans Saints

I like Zaven Collins too. He can drop into coverage, play the run and rush the QB. I believe he is a game changer and can take over a game. If he is the best player on your board @ 28, select him.

I'm still high on Jabrill Cox though. He's played at a high level at two programs. ND State and then at LSU.

Having another beast alongside Demario would be outstanding for our defense. Wouldn't be opposed to drafting another pass rusher either.

BTW, I'm still hopeful Baun can get it done and sees the field more in 2021 now that Anzalone is gone.

Well... since our #1 CB is probably facing a lengthy suspension, f*** it let’s make the big trade up for Horn.

Or we take the CB2 this year and we're likely in a slot in next year's draft to take a CB1 if that becomes necessary...
