Trade bait ala Garoppolo. Underhill and Triplett talked about that on today's podcast. Underhill wasn't for it while Triplett was. Good discussion.

My thoughts exactly. If that’s the case where you have two really good qbs on your hands, then you should be able to trade one for good compensation. I would hope we’d choose to stick with the younger option if he turns out to be legit

Razor thin (think Devonta Smith), he'll definitely need to add more bulk.

Day 2 (2nd/3rd round grade) projections.

Heard them discussing rookie WR's a couple of days ago on NFL Radio. Charlie Weis compared Hyatt to Devonta Smith. He said he had seen Smith before a game and his legs looked like sticks. Then he said that the kid played every game and never even looked like he got dinged. He said some smaller frame players just seem to be a lot more durable than their appearance. He said that's what he saw in Hyatt. He wasn't worried at all by his size.

Jeret Patterson
G

Notre Dame

High football IQ, he's quick, "plug and play" & versatile.

Allowed only 6 QB hurries, 1 QB hit & no sacks @ LG.

Hopefully, Peat's replacement is in the 2023 NFL draft.

We desperately need to find Peat's replacement unless we plan on signing him to an extension. And before you roll your eyes....it's been done before.

As some others (Major) have pointed, a REALLY good TE could be available with our second round pick. Adding Washington (6’ 7”) or Mayer (6’ 5”) could be like having Graham again. Paired with JJ it could be awesome.

Jahmyr Gibbs

RB

Alabama

Instinctive & runs with authority.

As Rez stated earlier, think Kamara but faster.

Yep, I won't rule out the Saints drafting another RB/powerback for 2023.

Regardless of the AK situation, it's time.

Re: Mock Drafts 2023

Keion White
DE

Ga Tech

6'5/285

Good hand placement, V8 motor with a power rush.

IDK how I'd feel about adding ANOTHER DE to the squad. Especially in the 1st round.

Davenport & now Payton Turner (former 1st) had kinda soured on me.

The expectation in rd1 is to become a quality starter (see Lattimore, Ramz/Olave) & not an average performer or a guy who stays under the medical tent or weekly injury report.

I'll be curious to see what Ireland/Allen and co-do with that Day 1 pick.

If they want a good one, they'll have to pull the trigger by round 3, probably.

I like this kid too ...

Israel Abanikanda
RB

PITT

One cut runner, not a lot of dancing. Has 2nd gear separation (track background) and... long speed. Good size @ 5'11/215.

1805 all-purpose yards and 21 TDs

His Pro day was impressive. Probably moves up to 2nd round.

Israel "Izzy" Abanikanda 2022 Regular Season Highlights | Pittsburgh RB - YouTube

Monster. Running back is deep.

Re: Mock Drafts 2023

Tank Bigsby
RB Auburn

Good control and acceleration in traffic. Runs good routes & has the ability to get through his holes. Physical runner.

Will need to improve with pass blocking at the next level but the potential is there.

K Major 04-08-2023 10:03 AM

Re: Mock Drafts 2023

Tyree Wilson,
Edge
Texas Tech

Transfer from A&M - big kid (6'6) & freakish athletic ability.
Good initial burst off the edge. If a tackle "whiffs", Wilson has the talent to get there.

Will need to improve on moving quicker off the snap without hesitation.

Pro comparison - JPP

Lots of potential here.

If you want another Lombardi, you'll need an ELITE QB or above-average O-line.

Here's another potential big ugly.

Peter Skoronski
G/T
Northwestern

Some have rated him as the best o line prospect in 2023. Gifted footwork and hand placement. Ideal Role: Left guard

Potentially a Day 1 starter as a rookie.
Second rd grade.

Some National scouts expect him to transition to GUARD & becoming a Pro bowler with his skill set.

Re: Mock Drafts 2023

Jordan Battle
S

Alabama

Started as a true freshman (29 tackles/2 TFL & 1 int).

Good speed, size, and pedigree. Scouts say he's athletic enough to play man yet has field awareness as a split safety.

Solid instincts to the football.

Will need to improve with form tackling & run support.
Mid-round grades.

Re: Mock Drafts 2023

Michael Wilson
WR

Stanford

Solid frame (6'2), good route runner & has the ability to make the contested catch.

Could be a perfect "high risk, high reward" type pick.

Mid-round (3-5) grades throughout.

Michael Wilson Highlights, Senior Bowl, Stanford WR - YouTube

He looks like a TE to me which isn't a bad thing. My only concern is he didn't extend his arms to make a catch in the video. I want my contested catch guy to snatch the ball out of the air. Nonetheless, he looks smooth enough running routes and he catches cleanly. I agree that we definitely need a possession receiver to back up MT if he can't get on the field again this year.

How did QB Tune's visit go with the Saints? Is he worth a late rounder?

K Major 04-11-2023 09:55 AM

Re: Mock Drafts 2023

Trenton Simpson

LB

Clemson

Good range, instincts, and finishes off plays.
51 tackles, 17 assists/2.5 sacks & 2 FF
Butkus Award semifinalist

The negative - can over run plays & get overaggressive
Hand placement to shed blocks need to improve

Day1/early rd2 grades
