Quite a bit of chatter (local media) up my way on Hooker.

Overall they like the skillset, touch on the deep pass, etc.)

I just don’t see him falling to Rd 3 as they are hoping.

I am certain Hooker doesn't see it either. Even if we grab him , either 2nd or third round, we should take a late flyer on another QB, McKee, Stetson or the Kid from Fresno.

Time to shift focus to the draft. Super Bowl is over.

Getting better as a team is via the draft. Carr may or may not sign in New Orleans. Who knows but the Loomis needs to draw a line on what he offers Carr's camp.

If Hooker is there in rd 2, he's high on my short list of options @ QB.

Re: Mock Drafts 2023

Mid to later round (see KC 7th rounder Pacheco) options -

RB Kenny McIntosh (Georgia)

AK legit help to share the workload. 4 year player, with 150 rush attempts, 10 tds and is a contributor in the passing game.

Pretty decent 3 round mock. I'd be pretty allright with those picks.

Another edge rusher on Day 1? Hmm..

Well, Cam isn't getting any younger + we could lose Davenport and Turner has yet to show up.

I'm really hoping for a DT in Rd1. Bolster up that D line. You win in those trenches.

We may get one in FA

I'm afraid to Draft defensive end using the same draft parameters using the players raw Athletic score but would love a solid defensive tackle in the first round. Either that or give me an offensive guard. I'll be happy with either one. Just give me one of the big uglies I'm dreaming about.

I could live with a guard (Cyrus Torrence - Florida) as well. Highly compensated Andrus Peat simply refuses to give you a complete season of football.

What are the chances we go back & snag another WR with that 1st round pick? No guarantees Mike and/or Landry will be around in 2023.

Cam is definitely front office material. Maybe he transitions in the Saints organization .

I have a feeling he'll transition to the small screen. Way more money in broadcasting than an NFL front office if you are good. He will be. He's a natural. Think Michael Strahan or Nate Burleson.

Kind of, but Cameron is more of a straight shooter than either of those guys. You don't know what he'll say, like Charles Barkley. He'd be a good fit for new media like the Pat McAfee show.

I get Carr in FA draft McCall and let him sit and learn a couple seasons. Accurate and can run as well. Can be had middle to late rounds.

He's already got a McAfee type podcast show that he hosts along with Mark Ingram.

Truss Levelz w/ Cam Jordan & Mark Ingram

I expect something bigger like NFL Network's Good Morning Football. He's be a guest on that show multiple times and knocks it out of the park every time.

Re: Mock Drafts 2023

But ESPN’s Todd McShay has a worrisome suggestion. One of the players who could leave this offseason is defensive end Marcus Davenport, who has all the ability in the world but struggled to stay on the field through five years with the Saints due to injuries and inconsistent play. He has the Saints picking a prospect with many of the same qualities that filled Davenport’s scouting report coming out of college: Georgia Tech defensive end Keion White.

No more projects like him. :bng:

He was already too expensive with the two number ones.

And way too many injury concerns (White) in college.

Hard pass.

Latest mock for the Saints -

DE Tuli Tuipulotu, USC

He was tops in sacks (13.5) last season.

Re: Mock Drafts 2023

Hau'oli Kikaha and Zack Baun had bunch of sacks in college as well. And while both are/were LBs - they were supposed to bring pass rush along with Davenport and Turner.

It doesn't too good on the scouts' evaluations.

Those two predate Jeff Ireland, if my memory serves me right.

I'm still on pass rushers in Rd 1.

Myles Murphy - Clemson

Quick & has power. Day 1 starter

Kikaha was taken in the 2015 draft and Ireland had joined the Saints in January of 2015, Baun was taken in the 2020 draft.

IMO Kikaha was a reach in the 2nd & Baun has never been utilized to his strengths in the Saint's defensive philosophy.

Give the guy a legit chance to rush @ OLB. Forcing him --> square peg into a round hole. He is more of a 3-4 defensive "fit".

But yeah, scouting has to be spot-on in 2023.

ZACH CHARBONNET

RB - UCLA

Good size, 4 year back in college. Solid vision & power.
Mid-round grade.

Surely the Saints scout can find a guy like rookie Isiah Pacheco, right?

7th round pick & played an active role in winning the Super bowl.

Scouts missed on this guy. Then again, maybe it's the creative Reid "system" up in KC.

Reid has always had good rb.'s dating back to his time in Philly, the man just knows how to put a team together.

Probably a bit of both. There are a bunch of guys that gets overlooked every year because of size, speed och any other measurment. Or they got stuck behind a stud in college. Then some of them ends up in the perfect system for their skillset in the NFL and all of a sudden BOOM. Coach looks like a genius and the scouts like duds.

First round - defensive tackle/offensive guard.

Second round- Hendon Hooker.

Third round- Tajae Spears.

Speaking of former 1st rounders, I see Payton Lynch
was BENCHED. In the XFL 😳.

Boy, talk about a former 1st rd bust by the Broncos.

“Hitting” on QBs at the NFL level is so hard to do.

But the Saints need to start gambling a bit more. And drafting a QB in rds 4-7 don’t carry much weight. See Ian Book.
