Devon Achane
RB

Texas A&M

Shifty, compact & capable of taking it for 6 on any given play. Legit speed - 4.35 is probably a slow time for him.

Negatives - small frame & pass blocking will need improvement at the NFL level.

4th round grades

Possibly.

New England is in need of a TE and they have the 14th pick in the draft.

Brian Branch
S

Alabama

Prospect rank 16

I only posted this because I saw it on CBS sports. I would hate this pick at #29.

Agreed.

I was looking at his stats from last season & he avg almost 7 ypc/14 tds .

And like you stated, with his size he could do damage in the fourth. He seems to get stronger as the game progresses.

If he needs to work on his blocking that will probably drop him down the Saints draft board. The Saints love good blockers which can open up the YAC yards for the other receivers. If we do draft a receiver this year I think it will be a possession receiver to back up MT who has substantial injury concerns. If not a true possession receiver I could see us getting another burner to stretch the field. Olave isn't really a burner like Shaheed but he gets open down field on a regular basis.

I've narrowed it down to these 3 positions on Day 1 of the draft.

WR, TE, and DL.

I don't even see him as a Day 1 selection.

He looks better suited in a 3-4 defense TBH.

We should find out which team the author supports .. then do a mock draft with Stetson Bennett as a first rounder pick for his team.

He's a KY Wildcat alum... So very likely a Saints hater .

2 RBs ?

Hmm

IMO we need to double down on the D and O line.

So the usual names of Mazi Smith (DT), Darnell Washington (TE) or perhaps Calijah Kancey (DT) @ pick 29?

Per the experts .

Im a Kancey fan at 29. Would love Washington in the 2nd. Or that DE from K State. Instant firepower on the defensive line.

I was a big fan of Kancey at first, but slowly leaning towards Smith as a stout run stuffer which we need to improve on.
Whats your thoughts for Kancey being top your list?

Trade Kamara and u got them. He should net a 3rd and to a team looking to contend he might be their dream.

What are your thoughts on RB Bijan Robinson?

The kid from Texas.

Some have him graded as the best RB in this year's RB class. The comparison I hear a lot is Saquan Barkley. An every-down back.

If for whatever reason he falls to the bottom of the 1st, would you consider him?

K Major 04-17-2023 09:14 AM

Re: Mock Drafts 2023

Nolan Smith
DE

Georgia

6'2/238

High motor, good burst & has experience in pass coverage (in the flat).

Cameron Jordan (will be 34 in July) can't play at a high level forever folks.

Kancey would be a very interesting choice simply because he's a bit suspect in the run game. The NFC South is run-heavy (with Tampa as the exception).

I like the speed and pass rush ability up the middle. I fancy the thought of being able to collapse pockets up the middle like Aaron Donald or Warren Sapp. His athleticism is what intrigues me.

Agreed. As bad as I wanna go DL or OL at 29, that would be very difficult to pass up

K Major 04-18-2023 08:42 AM

Re: Mock Drafts 2023

Chandler Zavala
G

NC State

Per ESPN, Zavala has played over 1,000 snaps at left guard. 13 starts in 2022 and had an above-average senior season (no sacks allowed/4 pressures).

6'3/325 lb frame & is a capable pass blocker.
Coach him up ... he could fill Peat's role in a year or two.

Mid-round grades (3-5).

K Major 04-18-2023 09:20 AM

Re: Mock Drafts 2023

JALIN HYATT

WR

Tennessee

He has good speed & his tape suggests he can run away from defenders (see Bama game). Looks like a guy who can stretch the field.

Negatives - slim (170) build, questionable hands, and limited on his route tree.

In time, he could become a legitimate WR2.
Comparison - DeSean Jackson Day 2 grades throughout.
