Well, his name definitely checks out :p

Seriously speaking on Tune, he wouldn't be a bad idea to develop.

I'm still not so certain that JW stays (someone could call if a QB gets hurt) on this team in 2023.

Then we should draft the Fresno St kid. Wasn't he the QB Purdy equivalent for this year?

Why not? Derek Carr is going to be starting and playing every week for the next decade so it doesn't matter whether it's Clayton Tune, Tommy Tune, or Looney Tune that's holding a clip board.

Thats pretty much the comparison Ive been reading.

But lets be real, most QBs (Purdy) will have success in the Niners system. Theyre just on another level with coaching, scheme and player personnel.

Daniel Jeremiah 3.0 thinks the Saints could go TE @ #29.

Hmm ....

Re: Mock Drafts 2023

Just from the clips, Mayer seems a bit stiff & doesn't have much separation.

It only gets harder at the next level.

I'd be happy to land Kuntz or LaPorta a round or two later. Kuntz is a freak and LaPorta is from the TE factory that is Iowa. The TE talent available looks good.

He's getting the Mike Gesiki comparisons.

I have a feeling the Saints haven't given up on addressing the TE position through free agency. Moreau appeared to be their first choice, but there are still other good options out there. Dan Arnold, Cameron Brate, and Kyle Rudolph are all still available. Juwan and Trautman aren't going anywhere right now and Taysom is still in play. And then there's Krull who may get more of a look this off-season.

Will McDonald IV

DE

Iowa State

36" vert, 11' broad jump. Played in all games of 2022, 36 tackles, 7 tfl, 5 sacks and 4 PBUs.

He has a serious spin move.

Selecting a DE @ pick #29 appears to be pretty congruent throughout.

Who would you take in the second round? Tajae Sears, Hendon Hooker, or BPA?

Until the draft begins to unfold....

Look it's clear we need to draft D Line. I get it. But if someone like Quinten Johnson or Mike Mayer slides past #20, I'm willing to trade up

Yep - hopefully, a quality starter. See Pete Werner & Alontae Taylor. Both 2nd rounders and appear to become quality starters.

With the addition of DCarr, don't see them going QB in any round of the draft. Why not add another weapon on offense? I'd like another WR like Jonathan Mingo from Ole Miss or an edge rusher (Felix Uzomah) of K State.

I think Tajae "Shakespeare" is a middle-round selection but that USC performance (minus the fumble) will help his case.

We shall see :bng:

Too funny. If we sign him we've already got his nickname ready to go.

Id hope one of Georgia or NDs TEs would be available at our second round
pick.

Potentially adding another WR in rd 1? If I had a choice, I'd prefer Washington over Mayer @ TE. Hell, I wouldn't mind either on Day 1 but I think Allen goes defense.

We shall see :bng:.

It wouldn't surprise me either. We've got a pretty good defense but need to draft DL in a bad way. On the other hand, our offense was anemic last year and we need a possession WR if MT isn't able to take the field again. I love seeing a two tight end set, so did Payton, and we want another quality TE beefing up our TE room. Whether we pick a WR or TE doesn't matter to me but we need another mid level ball catching threat.

A guy that could do what Jimmy Graham use to do would be a game changer.

Quentin Johnston
WR

TCU Horn Frogs

Big body, legit speed & freakish catch radius. Possibly a Day 1 starter.

Like a Darren Waller. Perhaps Carr made Waller look great just like Brees made Graham look great. Maybe Juwan could be the next recipient.

A.T. Perry

WR
Wake Forest

Tall (6'3), can beat press coverage & has long arms.

Mid round sleeper (3rd/4th round)

Sources Tell Us

He makes the game look really easy. I think you just have to live with the drops and focus on what hes really good at. -- Regional scout for NFC team

I'm loving the upside of JJ. I just hope he continues to develop and is finally USED where he can do the most damage.

Count me in as an early fan of Mayer. We haven't had a great TE since Jimmy Graham!

I think we go d line early - possibly first two picks but if Mayer falls that far you have to take him, right?

Re: Mock Drafts 2023

A big ugly (Torrence) to shore up the O line @ 29?

Sounds good to me. The Saints need to find Peat's replacement anyway.

Drafting a Dline dawg wouldn't hurt my feelings either.

Mr.Riaton 03-30-2023 10:33 AM

Re: Mock Drafts 2023

At this point, of all the prospects talked about that can realistically fall to us at 29, Id say Torrence is my favorite and probably the smartest pick. Second choice would be Mayer or Washington. I think a good DT will be there in the second. Not sure if there are any DE in that area that would be worth picking unless Mickey and the boys have one graded out for that area.we shall see
