RuhRoh.... top of the draft just got rearranged.

Will he now fall to #29?

Absolutely. Carr would be an upgrade at QB over what the Saints had last year but I think that the ceiling for Hooker is higher.

Wow! That's saying a lot. Carr is ahead of QB's like Terry Bradshaw, Kurt Warner, Phil Simms, and Ken Anderson in career passing yards and TD's with a great deal of his career still ahead of him. If any of these QB's coming out this year were to end up putting up numbers like Carr has accomplished they would be considered draft jackpots.

If we were to get Hooker in the draft I hope to hell he does match Carr in production. If he did then we would be in great shape moving forward!

Select a G, Safety, WR, QB & DT in next month's draft.

The Saints need a space eater on the D line. Free up, Davis and Werner.

Jalen Carter could work.

Darnell Washington - TE
Georgia
6'7 270 athletic, solid hands & creates mismatches.

This would address a weakness. Troutman's ceiling is average at best.

I've added Darnell because his name recently surfaced to the Saints @ #29.

That is even more reason for us not to sign Carr.
I really dont see a real difference between Dalton and Carr.
Id rather see what the Pack want for Rodgers. Pay him the 30+ mil for 2 seasons, draft Hooker and see how that plays out.

Arm talent and ceiling is the difference. I understand what you're saying though. I wouldn't die if we don't get Carr. I do have my heart set on Hooker though.

The lack of production from our first round DE's has me worried about drafting another DE in the first round. I know we need, one but I have very little faith that they can develop player prototype DE's who have a high RAS and not much else.

AsylumGuido 03-02-2023 01:59 PM

Re: Mock Drafts 2023

All this talk about lack of production by our defensive line and the Saints finished in #5 in the league in yards allowed and #5 in total sacks. Sure, they can be improved. All teams can, but they certainly were not bad. Not by a longshot.

Re: Mock Drafts 2023

FYI, the Saints have had their meeting with Florida QB Anthony Richardson. FWIW, his medical is kinda long. That could potentially scare a few teams off.

Due Diligence

I think it's pretty straight forward. They both went to Ohio State and are friends. Friends don't want to hurt friends. Whatever team Stroud goes to is going to be bad anyway.

Respect on respect. The Bears would be foolish to give up on Fields after only 2 seasons. CJ is talented but unknown.

JF needs legit help on the O line & more playmakers (notice how often he had to take off running) @ WR.

Hell, I'd take Justin as my QB for NO in a heartbeat.

Good take & I agree with Matt, Jeremiah & McAfee's take on Hendon.

Take Hooker on Day 2, build for the future @ QB and let's geaux.

No guarantees Davenport stays in NOLA & Payton Turner has been underwhelming or injured .

Oh & Cam Jordan will be 34 years of age at the start of training camp. Iron man can't play forever.

Would you pay MD $23 million a year?

Is that what Spotrac believes his "worth" is? IMO that's pretty steep for a guy who has enormous ability yet hasn't played a full season since being drafted 5 seasons ago.

By the way, he disappeared in 2022.

I'd like to have MD back for 2023 but on a team-friendly contract - full of incentives.

Now if his agent is requesting ridiculous, stupid money, allow him to get paid elsewhere but hey, I'm just a couch GM

While he did have his pinky amputated , for reasons that remain still unclear to us, he wants what his agent says he can get. His loss of pinky didn't speed him up. JP Pierre seemed to still perform well sans fingers . If I'm the Saints, I let him get that pain and suffering contract somewhere else.

We might also get a compensatory pick outta this.

The portion of the finger was amputated because a plate he had installed due to a break broke itself. The broken plate caused an infection. Apparently he was informed it could remain a problem moving forward and removing it would not only insure the issue would be gone, he would get back on the field sooner.

Nolan Smith's combine numbers were straight stupid. Mercy. He certainly made an extra million or two from it.

0.5 sacks and 29 tackles in 15 games last season. Woof. He needs to take that lack of fire somewhere else, I don't know what Payton and the front office were thinking with that pick but it's 5 years later and he still hasn't made an impact.

Sadly it seems like Payton Turner is following the exact same route too.
