Unfortunately Chris, #20 is Crawley

Swann is #27

I'll cut the corner some slack ... Michael did that very same move on Richard Sherman last season.

Unfortunately I think we may have to. Substitute Jones, Evans, Jackson, or Benjamin for Thomas and it gets pretty easy to see why it's important to hold our DBs accountable against excellent or elite receivers.

I could not agree more. Depth at the position has been pathetic every year. It's not the fans fault. The FO and Payton seem to make things seem fine when we actually know better. Allen was the secondary coach back and I still say if it wasn't for Sharper he wouldn't even be on the map. Now as a DC he seems unable to make the secondary a strong point of this D.

Re: 2017 New Orleans Saints Training Camp

In the FO defense it's not like they haven't tried to do something about the secondary. They just took the FA approach and have failed horrendously. From injury to players like Browner it just never pans out. I think the pieces are there for us to have a pretty good home grown secondary. I'm just hoping it clicks for them sooner rather than later. If I thought we could count on Breaux I would feel better about it. I haven't even put Lattimore into the equation because until he gets healthy what's the point.

Oh and can we please stop acting like Payton is telling the truth when he says a player has a "minor" injury?

Two weeks later and here's our first round pick still on the bench. But yea Payton never lies.
Having a positive attitude about that one sure made him heal faster

Payton said he tweaked his knee... One of the reporters (I don't remember who) said it was a sprain. Lattimore was out there today at practice stretching and jogging. Seems like it was all pretty straightforward and the correct amount of recovery time.

Of course 1-1 drills are not run during a game. However, press man coverage is just about as close as you can get in a game. If you review the tape, you can see that the drill simulates exactly that.

I can guarantee you that you won't be laughing if a similar situation occurs in the game and one of our DBs gets beaten that badly.

If Allen can come up with an effective pass rush & two solid corners, there are endless possibilities & we become unpredictable.

Side note - Crawley is ok at the #4 spot & he is still developing. If (boldly noted) our other corners remain somewhat healthy in 2017, it will be refreshing to know that your #4 corner back has already locked down Julio Jones under the lights.

Just the other day I was thinking about Breaux's trouble staying healthy and how the team might start to doubt being able to rely on him in his current role. It could be a situation where he's better off in a reserve role and if that's the case then he'd be absolutely top-notch depth.

Relating to what you said about Crawley, the two of them would be a phenomenal duo backing up Williams and Lattimore.

I can't see that the drill does any thing of the sort. The idea is definitely meant to improve route running and coverage skills, but there's no rush, no safety over the top etc.

I'm not going to fault Ken for having a tough time again at Mike in one on ones.

I never thought Breaux was all that. Good story and had flashes but lots of penalties and gave up his share. I think most of the love for him is based on potential.
Pair that with injury problems and I think he's just good depth as you said. Lattimore is no guarantee either. He should be, but he is going to have his struggles especially being injured so early in camp.

somebody on this darn team will be open, can the o-line hold up for than 1.95 seconds for brees to fire away.

As long as he is better than Alex Molden which is not that high of a bar. Breux can get it done. If those two are on the field it should be enough.

When Unger is back and Rami is half way decent then they should be ok.
Problem there is depth and it looks like the season may start without at least Unger

Getting Breaux on the field is the problem.

Um there is no way that getting Breaux on the field can be a problem because according to SP it is about availability

FWIW, here is a quote from today practice by Coach Payton worth mentioning :

"Its important to be out here, not getting into specifics...but availability is as important as anything else" - Payton speaking on Delvin Breaux.
