Line of the day from one of the Saints' funniest players -- offensive lineman Khalif Barnes – when asked to describe the weather Saturday: "Hot. Humid. Muggy. Hot with a capital H, little o, big T. Wet. … But, no, I think it's good. I can eat more pizza tonight."

It could be the weather. Probably some truth to it but easy to mitigate ; drink fluids! Outside of that, the reporting on actual injuries and dehydration is awful. If someone is seriously hurt what is the point in hiding it? Games are way down range and all will know what they are facing at that point.

Well, many of the injuries are actually aggravated when a guy has an extreme cramp, spasm and then makes a tear while trying to walk-off...

You've got millions of dollars (much of it was ours) sitting there in athletes, staff, equipment, so why not use those resources?

I grew up before the advent, development in much of modern kinesioligy where you just manned-up and rubbed dirt on it...

With players getting so much faster, bigger and making more dramatic displays of athleticism, there's going to be adjustments all around the peripheries of the game...

And then you even guys like Hau'oli Kikaha that would never have made it this far in the NFL, much less be playing after a third ACL!!!

Many of the guys getting carted off are just cramps where they're immediately brought to the training room, probably for electrolyte treatment...

Again, you've got millions of dollars invested in professional players, support staff, and advanced amenities, why would you not be smart and maximize your investment all around?

I have no idea what the guys were carted off for I haven't seen any reports. If some have come out post them my man!

Yes I hope they're just cramps and yeah heat is mother, but there were a lot of guys getting carted of or talking with trainers.

Did reports come out saying it was cramps? I hope it is

Actually not that wierd. I have always seen the same pattern at every national team camp i have been to. I think the main thing is that defensive players tend to run a lot more and harder than the offensive players. Mainly because they always have the goal to get to the ball on every play.

Payton said they were cramps and dehydration in his presser.

Hoping it's cramps. Payton said some were cramps but again he's rarely truthful. I'm wondering which were and which weren't.

Thank you. He did not make a blanket statement they were all cramps. Let's keep fingers crossed since so many people were going down it was all cramps. Why do some people choose to be dishonest in what they say. I honestly do not get it.

There will be no official injury reports as the teams (Head Coaches) are not compelled by league rules to disclose at this time...

On the Twittersphere, many of the Saints Beat Reporters have started tweeting updates on specific players and that the cart-offs were for cramps from the heat...

Example...

Which players, and if it is just cramps SP is going to say that like he did with Anthony. If iot is an injury he is going to stay quiet or say he has a knee, etc

Better year why does anyone believe a word Payton says about injuries? For ten years it's been the same. "So and so has a minor injury, expect him back soon" just for them to be out weeks or go on IR. It's Payton's M.O.
I understand why he does it, I just don't understand why people take it to heart every single time he does it even though he has proven to minimize severity of injuries time and time again.

Sure we all hope for the best but to expect his pattern to change is short sighted.

Exactly. And more than that he never stated they were all cramps. He said he thought some were. Snead I think is more than cramps per Tweet from Saints reporter who quoted SP

But agreed. I just ask people to be honest and stop lying. He didn't say that they were all cramps. But I am always hopeful they're minor injuries or cramps, because that is what we need as a team.

Yeah I remember, I think it was Butler from Dallas, and he was like we expect this, then all of a sudden he was on IR. LOL

Also consider that the guys were just carted off a few minutes before Payton gave his presser...

It may take a few hours to make a full assessment; I know I'd get p/o'd when my Primary Care Doc would make me wait three hours, for a fly-by of "Hey, how's been my man?" as he circled me, then departed with a "see you next time!" before I could get a word out...

I'd imagine these guys are getting much better care, just look at those new locker rooms!!!

Southern Louisiana Heat and Humidity (it's hard on a body) this time of year .... muscle cramps will be a common theme.

What does that have to do with someone else stating they were all cramps. SP never said that, never said that at all

Yeah, the players are an investment, I bet they are getting better care lol, especially the heftier the contract lmao

Who said they were all cramps? I just repeated what was said in his press conference. He was asked about the heat affecting more players today. He said, “Maybe a little bit more. We had a few more guys cramping. Overall, I think that is what you are looking for in training camp. You are pushing them. Overall, I thought that the periods went back-and-forth. There were a few that were sluggish.”

I assumed that applied to the two players (Klein and Warford) that were carted off. I was right.

When asked about Snead Payton answered, “Nothing specific.” Nothing more, nothing less.

Where was the tweet from the Saints reporter that said something else? I haven't seen any quote except those above. They came from the transcript of his entire press conference here.

Payton is appearing to let nicked players sit out longer than in past preseasons. There is no indication that it is anything serious. At no point during practice was it ever reported that he was injured at a specific time, was there?

Me too, it didn't sound serious. Never can tell though, but I think he will be fine. Probably out a day or few and back
