Matt Miller
@nfldraftscout There’s a lot of talk Taven Bryan will be not only a first round pick but potentially a top 25 player. Teams love his athleticism and potential. Keep an eye on the Falcons for him 8:49 AM · Apr 8, 2018 He does fit the Falcons defense really well. |

I'd have no problem on the pick if he drops to the 3rd rd. Kyle could end up a better Pro QB than half of these so called 1st round QBs. I'll take accuracy over a cannon arm at this level. Jay Cutler, Byron Leftwich, Josh Freeman, Jeff George etc had strong arms but very little touch on the ball. |
Re: 2018 NFL Draft Prospects - Saints
This can be a pretty accurate model of what could transpire, with some likely trades...
Still, you can now see why I'd want to move Armstead to get back into the high second round... Were the mock to shake out like this, we could get say Indy to bite on Armstead so they could finally get Luck protection... If that happened, we could send Armstead and a fourth and get a second and third... We could get both Bryan or Vander Esch and take UCLA RT Kolton Miller, allowing Ramczyk to ascend to LT... This would be one serious Jedi Draft Move; either way, we have three LTs on the roster, four if you count Bushrod who played their on our Superbowl team... |

27. NEW ORLEANS SAINTS (11-5)
LB Leighton Vander Esch, Boise State The defensive overhaul continues in New Orleans as Vander Esch adds an athletic presence to the front-seven. He flies to the ball in the run game and has good range in coverage and he led the nation with 76 total stops a year ago. http://gifimage.net/wp-content/uploa...Download-3.gif |

Re: 2018 NFL Draft Prospects - Saints
JP, there’s a draft analyst named Jon Ledyard and yesterday on Twitter he was showing Frank Ragnow clips. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen someone take an Alabama D-Lineman to church the way Ragnow did to Da’Ron Payne.
If Ragnow drops into the 3rd round, I’d definitely package our extra 5th and 6th to try moving up for him. He spends 2018 as a backup interior guy a la Kelemete and he starts at center in 2019. Releasing Unger next year frees up $6.25 million in cap space. |
Re: 2018 NFL Draft Prospects - Saints
Quote:
Yeah, he's a Center, but I've felt he was first round grade prospect for a year now, still feel that way... I'd only lowered him into my second round group because I felt there were other guys I'd given priority like Taven Bryan and Leighton Vander Esch... Make no secret for my disdain for Mr. Glass and his unavailable"ness" coupled with having three (now four) left tackles on the roster... I'd like to move on, get younger, and attain easier-to-fill LG or RT... Peat or Ramczyk can easily man the LT spot, giving us cap friendly numbers for at least a couple more seasons... And allowing the unit to play more cohesively than eight (8) games in the regular season together... We could use that late one or early 2 on Armstead with teams like the Browns, Colts, Chargers and fill out our front seven or direct return on the offensive line... |

Best case scenario for 2018 is that we get the Armstead we thought we were going to get when he signed that massive contract. |

But, per Over the Cap AND Spotrac, we'd gain $2.9mil in a Pre-June 1st designated trade and $10.3mil in a Post-Jun 1st designated trade... We're spending too much money and have too many LT to not make the move and address other areas, even along the offensive line... I'd rather had kept Senio Kelemete instead of Demario Davis and moved Armstead... |

Memphis wide receiver Anthony Miller Payton is an aggressive coach, and I would not be surprised to see him try and make another “Alvin Kamara” type move up to get a player. If someone starts to fall due to a run on a position or the usual pick for need comes into play, one player that could tumble a little is Miller. |

Then "everybody" will follow suit and the opportunity will be gone. Personally, I think some of the very lowest rounds are "undervalued." They call it a Draft for a reason. Why wouldn't a team want to draft (i.e. force) some players to play for them instead of hoping in UDFA? |
Re: 2018 NFL Draft Prospects - Saints
DL is a reach & 27. Probably have to do it but man, I would love to have Gesicki. Our TE's are ok but down the stretch it really hurt us. Need a EZ big body target. Rest of the draft will be excellent value with all the QB's going early. No reason we can't land a couple of starters again.
