Potential late round sleeper...

Pro Day March 30: Yale, South Dakota State & TCU | Draft Analyst

Yale linebacker Matt Oplinger was not rated by scouts entering the season but after a campaign which included 42 tackles and 11.5 sacks, he’s now on their radar.

Seven teams including the San Francisco 49ers, New York Giants, Green Bay Packers, Indianapolis Colts, Atlanta Falcons, Chicago Bears and Detroit Lions made their way to New Haven, Connecticut this morning and Oplinger did not disappoint.

Oplinger measured 6022/250 pounds, completed 25 reps on the bench press, touched 32 inches in the vertical jump as well as an impressive 10-feet-5-inches in the broad jump.

He timed 4.75s in the forty, 4.49s in the short shuttle and 7.38s in the three cone then looked real good in drills. Oplinger, who could land in the final rounds of the draft, is scheduled to wokout for the New Orleans Saints.

I only took 19 out of 25 (1/2 test) and scored a 9 and that was only because I didn't know we only have 6 minutes.

Per his agent's advice, Dallas Goedert will not run the 40-yard dash today. Doesn't want to risk injury. There are some NFL scouts who are less than pleased.
10:05 AM · Mar 30, 2018

That’s not a good move.

Really liked Goedert early on, but have soured and this is why - same as Evans...

These guys are playing it safe and trying to hang on to their draft status - kinda like prevent D...

To me, this is the time you ball-out, perform as it is your life on the line - win your future team over...

Let's see who you really are instead of listening your agent to get that Big Mo - and it shows they're more like a Byrd...

I'd rather not say - but the questions fell right for me and office was slow this morning...

but I once learned the part of MI for the second degree in a day at LTC-Gulfport and used the interpretation of the best MI I ever knew ;) in that surrealistic degree...

Hagan, who lived in New England, actually touched on this guy - always told Kevin the Saints could use a better scout there...

Yeah I’m starting to board the Taven Bryan train. That explosiveness is just incredible. There’s a lot of projecting with Bryan though because the production wasn’t really there and his instincts are really lacking. He fires into the backfield like the Tasmanian Devil and over-pursues sometimes. Ryan Nielsen would have to get him to reign it in a little. You can’t teach that explosion though.

So USA has this happening...

Why? Why would we take a clear 3-4 OLB who can't set the edge for our 4-3?

With such few needs, this makes no sense...and I'm not convinced Landry can get it done against superior talent...

We'd also have to consider swapping fourth round picks in that deal, but if Bryan and Vander Esch or off the board, I really like idea of trading back...

Right where he should be, but Taven Bryan & Harrison Phillips still on the board (Bryan won't, but Phillips could), take Phillips and use a third on a tight end...

Like Cichy's instincts, game, but those injuries and availability is a key concern - too early for a draft and stash pick with Schultz and Teller there......

Do we try to jump ahead of Atlanta for Taven Bryan? He’s a perfect fit for what they’re doing on defense and it’s a position of need for them. It would probably take our extra 4th and 5th round picks just to move up two spots with Tennessee.

ranked #2 or 3 CB depending on which rankings you look at. I bet we take a DE or DT in the 1st and move up to get this guy in the 2nd

Re: 2018 NFL Draft Prospects - Saints

Josh Jackson doesn’t have much experience with man coverage. Kind of a slower zone CB a la Josh Norman. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, but depending on how quickly his man coverage skills develop I’d question scheme fit.

Both CB Parry Nickerson, Tulane; Height: 5' 10"; Weight: 182 lbs. and DE Ade Aruna, Tulane; Height: 6' 6"; Weight: 262 lbs. could be in play for the Saints...

He's a strong guy with good footwork. I'm kind of surprised he's projected as a 5th rounder.
