Re: 2020 NFL Draft: Saints Prospects
If a player like Lamb drops for whatever reason to the 2nd round ... at WR? ... you pick him.
See last year's draft at WR (dropped to early 2nd rd) ... Niner Deebo Samuel he hurt us badly as a rookie. Don't over think some of these draft selections. |

Also AJ Brown and DK Metcalf in last year's 2nd round. And this year it appears is a deeper draft at WR and HB. Will teams continue to generally shy away from picking those positions in the first round? Something's gotta give or we need to take those steals! |

Re: 2020 NFL Draft: Saints Prospects
9ers have Kendrick Bourne, Sanders, Samuel and Kittle who can all get open and catch passes.
We need to move on from Trequan, he makes Ginn look good the way he drops passes. |

Can’t wait to watch WR’s Justin Jefferson and Tee Higgins tonight!
|
Re: 2020 NFL Draft: Saints Prospects
Burrow deserves to be a day 1 starter in the NFL, the championship game certainly cinched that. He will need to throw the ball away more at the pro level with the speed of defenses and make a few other adjustments, but he's a gamer and shouldn't take long to transition.
|
Re: 2020 NFL Draft: Saints Prospects
Chase & Jefferson are big time NFL prospects. A lot of those catches last night were contested & well defended by Clemson.
The LSU cornerback Stingley is only a freshman but they rarely challenged him on those boundaries last night. You can tell he played some WR in High school because he's always turning his head, tracking the ball. In two years, he'll be a top NFL corner back prospect. |
Re: 2020 NFL Draft: Saints Prospects
Maybe Joe Brady can somehow influence Sean Payton & his scouts to really start looking at LSU players. I don't mean just in the lower rounds either.
I saw a hand full of kids who could help us on Sundays. |
Re: 2020 NFL Draft: Saints Prospects
I'm getting on board to the OG train this draft. We can get a pretty good one where we're picking this year. Although, I'm a firm believer in BPA in the 1st regardless of position.
My wish list in 1st or 2nd Rd: Kindley, UGA...Lemieux, Oregon...Biadasz, Wisconsin (versatile enough for guard plus could spell McCoy if needed) I also like this deep WR crop in the mid rounds: Mims, Baylor...Vasher, TT...Hill, Ohio St. |

Asked one of my media friends that and the response was along the lines of no one would dare ask that question... To be honest, saw some flaws in Chase's game last night, several drops, doesn't snatch/catch the ball cleanly... Burrow was amazing throwing him open on deep targets even though Chase dropped some early crucial targets... One thing I did see in Jefferson that I'd not really seen was his willingness to catch balls in traffic to move chains, eat clock... |
Re: 2020 NFL Draft: Saints Prospects

I remember this one scout said that (doesn't eye in the ball) last season on D.K. Metcalf. All I saw him do was ball at the next level and into the playoffs to keep the chains moving. Even first rounders require coaching up. |
Re: 2020 NFL Draft: Saints Prospects
Chase and Stingley would be top 15 picks in this draft.

Re: 2020 NFL Draft: Saints Prospects
Trevor Lawrence ... meh.
Struggled with accuracy. Sure he has the arm and power but he missed wide open receivers & throwing in tight windows in which you'll have to do at the next level. I don't see what people are talking about with him as "the next best thing" since Andrew Luck. He didn't have ONE single TD vs a suspect LSU defense. Better go to that Manning passing academy down in Thibodaux and work on his efficiency & accuracy this off season. It's a good thing he has another year of college eligibility. He has work to do on his accuracy otherwise the NFL DB's will eat him alive. |

Fanspeak On The Clock (Premium) Draft Simulator
First Run, Curious to see how players are slotting; this of course is done with no idea of what's to happen in Free Agency... Three biggest needs I'm looking to address for the 2020 Saints at this point is WR-Z, CB2, and LB... Initially tried trading back to get either Indianapolis' two (2) second round picks or Chicago's two (2) second round picks; simulator wouldn't budge... After checking DraftTek's Trade Value Chart, it's not happening; but in the Real World someone may fall that either team covets... Okay, so I start the simulator and tremendous value and need fall to me with our first round pick ... Pick No. 24 (R1,P24) CB C.J. Henderson, Florida; Height: 6' 1"; Weight: 202 lbs.:bandg: When selecting a first round pick, I'm looking for a player that starts immediately and can offset his rookie mistakes with playmaking ability... Henderson may need a little more coaching-up, but could challenge immediately for the NB if my other CJ takes over for departing FA Bell... We need WRs and somehow an absolute burner falls through the second round, so I pull a Payton to start the third round... TRADE PARTNER: Cincinnati Bengals receive a Future Round 2 Pick and send Pick No. 65 (R3, P1) Pick No. 65 (R3, P1) WR Jalen Reagor, TCU; ; Height: 5' 11"; Weight: 195 lbs.:bandg: Okay, he's not falling, but if he did, this is huge as he'd be a R3 (R2) pick that plays right away tearing the tops off of defenses as Ginn was meant to do; Mike Thomas gives him new sneakers each week in gratitude... Reagor also offers great YAC ability as well... Now comes to our third round pick and there's a terrific match for a guard sitting there... Pick No. 88 (R3, P24) RG Ben Bredeson, Michigan; ; Height: 6' 5"; Weight: 325 lbs.:bandg: He's got NFL-ready size, strength; plus-lateral movement; can get to the next level fast; and played against NFL prospects, and should be able to transition to start guard in his first season... Okay, so now we get to the Day 3 picks, this is where I do believe in moving up to get to that pool of 8-10 prospect should've gone on Day 2. This is where I pull a good Payton... TRADE PARTNER: Washington Redskins receive a Future Round 4 Pick and Pick No. 127 (R4, P24) and send me Pick No. 105 (R4, P2) Pick No. 105 (R4, P2) LB Evan Weaver, Cal; Height: 6' 3"; Weight: 235 lbs.:bandg: Okay, this gives me a tremendous athlete who can pair, run with DeMario, can get inside scouting via Cam Jordan's alma mater buddies; now I can run more 3-LBers sets minimizing the match-up liability... Because I've let Peat go in Free Agency and needing a reserve offensive tackle, I go back to the Wisconsin well, and I have Ramczyk do what Cam did and I get me another Wisconsin Milk Farmer to play Tackle... Pick No. 169 (R5, P23) OT Cole Van Lanen, Wisconsin; Height: 6' 5"; Weight: 312 lbs.:bandg: In truth, he should've stayed, but I'm glad to start grooming him, even if he'd be better as a Right Tackle, but he can absolutely maul right away, so I'm using him on jumbo packages his rookie year... Okay so I sit tight to see what gems fall, and there's one that I'm particularly looking for and he does indeed fall into my lap... Pick No. 203 (R6, P24) S Myles Dorn, UNC; Height: 6' 2"; Weight: 205 lbs.:bandg: This guy has prototypical size, experience playing single-high safety, has demonstrated advanced instincts and reads for a college player and gives me flexibility with my secondary... Now this is a deep draft for Defensive Linemen, and even with the guys I have already, I see too much value sitting out there so I trade back into the draft in the last round... TRADE PARTNER: Miami Dolphins receive a Future Round 6 Pick and send Pick No. 245 (R7, P31) Pick No. 245 (R7, P31) DT McTelvin Agim, Arkansas; Height: 6' 3"; Weight: 300 lbs.:bandg: Truth is this was a toss up because there were other DLs I really liked here as well that I'd like not have to fight for in the UDFA rush: DT Benito Jones, Ole Miss; Height: 6' 1"; Weight: 329 lbs DT Davon Hamilton, Ohio St; Height: 6' 3"; Weight: 310 lbs NT Ray Lima, Iowa St; Height: 6' 3"; Weight: 305 lbs NT Mike Panasiuk, Mich St; Height: 6' 4"; Weight: 300 lbs Well, that was fun, and interesting to see what many folks are thinking and the values that are being put on people... Shoup is a great guy and he and his sister have developed this simulator; y'all should really check it out and the Premium Mode is inexpensively purchased via PayPal... Have it on good authority that more knowledgable media types and even scouts are using this app to get a feel or concensus on players' values... G in the 1st. Not a sexy pick but shores up the most important position needing to be addressed.

WR ... Tee Higgins - CLEMSON Prototype size & high points the ball.
The Saints can longer get by with "bargain basement" wide receivers. You gotta go draft a legit #2 WR. Brees needs more weapons. |
