Re: 2020 NFL Draft: Saints Prospects

Given our history, better keep an eye on these 11 ...

Cornerback Damon Arnette, running back J.K. Dobbins, safety Jordan Fuller, defensive lineman DaVon Hamilton, linebacker Malik Harrison, wide receiver K.J. Hill, offensive lineman Jonah Jackson, wide receiver Austin Mack, cornerback Jeff Okudah, wide receiver Benjimin Victor and defensive lineman Chase Young.

Dobbins excites me the most.

^^^^ Good coaching & great kids.

Travis Minor, Warrick Dunn, Kevin Franklin (changed to CB @ LSU), Guice & now Edwards-Helaire .. all former Bears.

When all of these kids leave Catholic High School - BR (I'm a proud alum), they all come back to mentor the next generation. Really no surprise that they continue to churn out great backs year after year.

I think Helaire can have a lot of success at the next level.

Wonder if there's any legitimacy to trading Kamara?

There could be but you just never know …

I didn't believe the Saints would trade Jimmy Graham either.

That’s a Payton guy... I can’t see it happening. I would understand it, but Payton thinks he’s his Marshall Faulk.

Jordan Elliot - DT Missou
Great size … 6'4, 315 and has good technique.

David O could leave in Free Agency, Rankins has yet to remain healthy so …

They didn't want to, but that was the only way they could get the deal done. They wanted to trade Kenny Stills instead if I remember correctly, but the Seahawks insisted upon Graham.

Amik Roberton - CB LA Tech

Scrappy, nose for the football and does not shy away from tackling. Starting around 1:58, notice how he wraps up. Textbook form 101 tackling. If he attended LSU, he'd be talked about as a potential 1st rounder. Awareness and ball skills. This is something you either have or you don't. He's the real deal.

I hope the Saints coaches brings the house to La Tech's Pro Day. Bulldogs mascot name fits here. He's all dawg.

Adrian Killins - RB UCF

Big play ability on any given carry. Explosive .. "killer" :p 6th gear.

Re: 2020 NFL Draft: Saints Prospects

Adam Trautman - TE Dayton

6'6 with the ability to develop. Could be a good, mid round prospect.

Jared Cook is older and his contract is up after the 2020 season.

Do you think Brees returning changes their draft strategy into which prospects they might look at? If so, who do you think?

I doubt it changes anything as far as draft planning. They were probably more confident in his returning than most of us and most of us were pretty confident.

I don't believe the draft "strategy" changes at all with Brees returning.

Saints continue to draft the BPA, regardless of position.

As they should. If that BPA lines up with a need, so much the better, but I don't agree with going into a draft looking to merely fill needs.

The Saints will address needs in Free Agency as they usually do.

Unfortunately, that's what's left us with no one to properly compliment Michael Thomas. WR has been a need for years and every season seems to get ignored.

I don’t think we actually do draft BPA... not in the early rounds at least. Seems like we’re more likely to trade up for a need.

I honestly believe they believed what they had was sufficient. Loomis even said something along those lines at the Super Bowl, but his forte is finance, not player evaluation. Hopefully they now realize the need for an impact WR2.

A SIT DOWN CONVERSATION WITH CAMERON DANTZLER

https://thedraftnetwork.com/articles...raft-interview

Q: When did the NFL become a reality?

D: I would say my junior year of high school. Watching the NFL, it's something that I've always wanted. My dad used to always get excited watching the New Orleans Saints play and hopefully, one day, he'll be excited to see me play on that level on TV. I also can take care of my family by doing something that I love to do.

A little foreshadowing maybe??

Michael Ojemudia - CB IOWA

High IQ player, reacts and plays the ball. Good tackler in space too.

K Major 02-18-2020 06:25 PM

Re: 2020 NFL Draft: Saints Prospects

KJ Hill Jr. - WR "Thee" Ohio State

Instead of signing an UDFA WR, why not take a late round flyer on this kid? He is fluid in his run style, can catch a lot of the underneath stuff.

Lastly he's caught passes from different types of QB's at OSU. Cardelle, Haskins & most recently Justin Fields. Because of the school, I'm sure the Saints brass with give him multiple "looks" pre draft.

Both were traded. Saints didn't want to commit that much cap space to TE, Graham had lobbied successfully that he was also a WR if I remember correctly...

Remember hearing whispers that the Saints were most unhappy with Jimmy airing things out on social media, and likely agent leaks to the media...

Yes, Stills was eventually traded, but he was part of the offer to pick up Unger. It was the Seahawks who countered with including Graham instead. I can't remember the exact source, but I remember reading or hearing about that exchange. It may have been John Clayton who practically lives in the Seattle camp.

As for the Graham as WR affair, that was orchestrated by the NFLPA to challenge the designations within the Franchise Tag. It was their lawyers fighting the fight. The PA knew the definition of player positions was getting muddied. The line between an outside LB and a DE is disappearing with teams using different packages on a play by play basis, yet the tag level differs by $2M. TE's are leading teams in receptions, etc, at $5M per year less than WR's on the tag. The PA lost that appeal and his tag was designated as a TE. The Saints and Graham worked out a new deal shortly thereafter.

Stud.

Sideline to sideline guy and tackles well. Not sure if you remember in the LSU (probably his worst performance) game, he got injured trying to chase Burrow on a roll out.

The concerns (very few) is that he does not shed away from defenders. Something that will be equally hard at the next level. Can become a little impatient in coverage. Side note - there was this one particular scout who compares him to Stephone Anthony . The pro scout name escapes me at the moment.

** FWIW, a lot of teams "worst performances" was against LSU. That was a juggernaut offense. No shame for Murray there.

IMO he's gone by pick 15.
