Re: 2020 NFL Draft: Saints Prospects
So we all know by now that the Saints will never shy away from trading future 1st or 2nd round picks to go get their guy. Is their a guy you would trade next year’s 1st rounder to go get?
For the record, I know it’s a terrible idea to trade future 1st’s for anything other than a QB, but the Saints don’t care. I’m thinking if LB Isaiah Simmons fell to 10 or lower we could make a move a la the Steelers last year for Devin Bush. I’d be ok with that. |
Re: 2020 NFL Draft: Saints Prospects
This would be awesome! I’d be pretty happy. |
Re: 2020 NFL Draft: Saints Prospects
Yes, think multiple WR draft picks. No, not in the 1st and maybe not in the 4th simply because it's a deep WR class.
Unfortunately, we did use #1 pick on a WR in the last deep class. Would've helped to get 2 as we see now. |

And what's happened is that when we've hit, we really hit big and when we missed, we really missed and it's manifested in quick playoff exits... The problem is an organizational problem of assessment and acquisition where one man has too much weight in personnel decisions... First, Saints Director of ProScouting Terry Fontenot and GM Mickey Loomis should geaux if either gave favorable reports on Ginn and Meredith; if Payton forced the moves, then why even have guys in token positions? Second, as Chris aptly pointed out earlier, we should only be trading future ones for a franchise QB, which we've had already. Moving up as many times as we've had has limited draft opportunities for WRs... Third, in the four moves mentioned for WRs, we've only hit on one, so obviously the talent evaluation process is still very flawed in the Payton Front Office... |

I look at the production of Dallas Michael Gallup (taken a few picks above Tre') & often wonder if he was ever on our draft board. He's killing it. At this point, anything we get from Tre is Lagniappe. Minimal improvement 3 years in. Keep in mind Taysom was more productive at the position for 2019 . We have a lot of un drafted (Hogan, Humphrey, Carr, Butler) guys that Brees can't turn into bona fide play makers anymore. I for one will be elated if we go WR early in the draft. More weapons, more options, more problems for opposing defenses. |

Let me repeat my point - there were attempts to get that other guy, it's just the decision, process was wrong AND we didn't have the draft picks to make another (too much trading up)... |

If we had a Carmen Policy-type GM, Sean Payton and the Saints would have won multiple SuperBowls with Drew Brees by now... Payton calling all the shots has been a total clusterf*ck on the personnel end of the Saints... But we can Thank Mike Ditka for the Ricky Williams trade as the bar for draft gaffes has been set pretty low... Didn't think anyone would outdo Jim Haslett's move up with two first round picks for Jon Sullivan... But Payton is making up for it on sheer volume; Payton clearly has a complex that he feels the need to outsmart everyone, even on draft day, including himself... |

LB Akeem Davis-Gaither... I get Fred Warner vibes looking at his tape. Lining up against slot receivers and has a lot of range.

Javon Kinlaw is more impressive than Chase Young to me because he can play multiple positions on the defensive line in odd or even fronts... |
Re: 2020 NFL Draft: Saints Prospects
Would anybody be willing to trade up for the #1 pick and select Joe Burrow?

I just don't see the Saints or contending teams trade away so many picks to leap frog to #1. Doing that (trade up) would set the franchise back years. But then again, Sean Payton is our HC. Anything is possible. I simply can't fathom how we'd pull that off. Love J Burrow's swag, competitive spirit but I'd be quite upset if we gave up the farm to get him. Drafting QB's (Blake Dak Bortles, Marriota, Jameis Winston) high & hoping they transition well to the NFL is super risky. |
Re: 2020 NFL Draft: Saints Prospects
Kristian Fulton - CB LSU
He can cover ... repeat he's good in press coverage although he's not a tackler but neither was Deion. Has a short memory (if he gets beat on a play, next snap he recovers) & is fluid in hip movement like Lattimore was coming out of college. I really like his footwork too. He's a annoying, tenacious defender. Local kid from Arch Bishop Rummel - NO. Many consider LSU as DBU for good reason. Late rd Day 1 selection, but gone on Day 2 for sure. Hopefully our scouts are taking a really good look at Kristian. Potential RED FLAGS ... was suspended for the entire 2017 season (NCAA drug tampering). |

Damn! WR Justin Jefferson with the unofficial 4.44 forty! That’s huge for him.
