Re: 2020 NFL Draft: Saints Prospects
It’s starting to look like some really great prospects could get pushed down the board on draft day. In the first round alone there’s starting to be a lot chatter from draft analysts that the top 10 could be populated by the QB’s (Burrow, Tagovailoa, Herbert and Love) and the OT’s (Becton, Wirfs, Wills and Thomas.) Throw in Chase Young and Jeff Okudah to the top 10 and that leaves a bunch of elite prospects falling to the teens.

My God... Isaiah Simmons with the unofficial 4.39 forty.

Re: 2020 NFL Draft: Saints Prospects
You know, the more I learn about LB Kenneth Murray the more I believe he should be the leader of our defense for the next decade. He’s an incredible young man and these numbers he’s posting at the combine tonight only reinforce how much potential he has.

Re: 2020 NFL Draft: Saints Prospects
Just don't understand how these guys come up injured running the 40...
|
Re: 2020 NFL Draft: Saints Prospects
There’s some thought that the late workout times had a negative impact. |

Re: 2020 NFL Draft: Saints Prospects
RIP Cameron Dantzler’s first round hype with a 4.65 forty.
|
Re: 2020 NFL Draft: Saints Prospects
Does a 40 time truly have any correlation to greatness in the NFL? Or even success? I would think that hands, intelligence and work ethic would all be far more important. Yet is always 40 times that get all of the 'wow'.

Jerry Rice ran a 4.7 40, whatever happened to him?

Re: 2020 NFL Draft: Saints Prospects

Rarely did you ever see Rice get caught from behind at MS Valley, and San Fran. Perfection of the route tree and had "violent hands". Walsh always said he had "long speed" and a 2nd gear like no other. Football speed. Trust the tape. |

The Combine is my least favorite part of the off-season ... sure let's have these rookies run 40's and believe religiously in all these metrics, then not draft them for another 2 months or get them in camp for another 5 months ... the world moves too fast for half this crap to matter! Unless you own a hotel or restaurant in Indianapolis, nothing worth getting excited over, it is just off-season filler. |
Re: 2020 NFL Draft: Saints Prospects
I heard that the only real value gained from the combines are the physicals and the interviews. The rest isn't as important as game tape. It has become geared more toward the fans, thus the move to primetime.

Re: 2020 NFL Draft: Saints Prospects
Wouldn't be sad if this happened...
...24. Saints Jalen Reagor WR, TCU If there’s one team that embraces confidence in their players, it’s the New Orleans Saints, and Jalen Reagor is truly one of the most confident players in this draft — and I’m not just talking about wide receivers. Reagor jumped an insane 11-feet 6-inches in the broad and followed it up with an equally insane 42-inch vertical. His 4.47-second 40-yard dash might have been slower than some predicted, but after showing up at 206 pounds, no team should be turned off by that time. Pairing him with Michael Thomas would be scary for a team nearing the end of their Super Bowl window... 88.Saints Tyler Biadasz IOL, Wisconsin... |

Flashback to 2016 and one the top QB prospects
And with their third round selection the New Orleans Saints select... 'Quarterback Kevin Hogan, Stanford' He might be there in the early fourth round, but the heart (and arm) he showed in beating Notre Dame... ...well, he may just be our guy.  BUT! BUT! HE BEAT ND!!! He was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in the fifth round of the 2016 NFL Draft, and has also played for the Cleveland Browns, Washington Redskins, and Denver Broncos. IT'S THE COACHING!!  |
