He said a player at a different position could be ready in time coming off an ACL injury (see Jameis Winston), but a WR that depends upon his ability to cut and be explosive has far more hurdles to clear.

Zander Horvath is probably the best FB prospect since Mike Alstott...

There’s a lot of talk lately about safety Kyle Hamilton dropping out of the top 10. Positional value + lackluster speed (running in the 4.7’s at his pro day) has teams backing off a little bit.

I've never bought into him as a Top 10 pick...

Only 23 players have 1st round grades this year, presumably.

What are the chances of Trevor Penning (OT) dropping to the second half of the draft? Highly unlikely but hey, critics didn't see Ramz falling to the end of the draft either.

The athleticism for a man of his size is crazy. And I don't buy the "small school" logic either. The tape - he dominates. Senior bowl - he dominates. A nasty streak in his play too.

If he gets in the right system & coaching, that's a potential Day 1 starter & bookend for the next 5-10 years.

Can't wait for the draft.

Hard to say without knowing how each team views his fit in their blocking scheme. I think there’s a couple teams picking right before us who could take him to play RT (Chargers, Ravens and Texans.)

The Saints remain perfect under Loomis ... 16 draft trades total and all 16 were trades up, not a single trade down.

I really doubt that's happening based on our current depth. Makes no sense giving up next year's 1st that is QB rich. I don't think any QB should be drafted in the 1st this year unless it's at the tail end.

Who know's though.......

Really interesting O-Line info here:

https://www.profootballnetwork.com/n...-class-rising/

Some excerpts…

…sources close to the Panthers tell PFN that right now, it comes down to a pair of players for Carolina – Charles Cross or Ikem Ekwonu. However, it’s questionable that Ekwonu lasts until the sixth pick.

…Penning could come off the board as early as No. 10 to the New York Jets. I’ve been reporting since the Senior Bowl that Penning is a favorite of general manager Joe Douglas.

… I’m hearing the latest Penning comes off the board is pick No. 14 to the Baltimore Ravens. The franchise recently signed Morgan Moses, who played with the Jets last season, to a three-year deal. Yet, upon inspection of the contract, it reads like a one-year deal. Thus, the Ravens want to come out of this draft with a young offensive tackle.

The more I think about it, the more I think we plan on drafting a QB @16. People in the know say we want to come away with a QB and I just don’t think you give up the draft capital that we did for any other position.

What people in the know are saying we want QB? I know Mike Triplett feels we are in win now mode and doesn't see spending a high pick on a QB, especially in this year's weak crop, as making sense. I tend to agree. I honestly don't see any of the available QB's in this upcoming draft having any more potential than what we already have in Winston. He's only 28 years old and could conceivably be our starter for the next seven or eight years.

Personally I wouldn't want any of the QB options coming out this year in the first round. If none are clearly worthy of top ten consideration then they really aren't worth considering anywhere in the top round. The bust potential is extremely high on all of them. These are the least hyped crop of QB's in the past decade. There has to be a reason for that.

I don’t know. I can’t scout QB’s at all. There’s way too much off-field and cerebral stuff that goes into a QB’s success that we don’t really know about.

2022 has a stacked field of WR's/quality o linemen & by most accounts, "experts & many scouts" are saying that this is a below-average list of prospects at QB ...

Selecting a QB at 18 would be a serious reach.

Just my GM couch coach opinion though.

Not going to get any disagreement on that from me. But… it only takes Dennis Allen liking one of the QB’s. We have to be prepared for that possibility.
