That often leads teams to looking for shorter guys with big lower bodies so that they have a low center of gravity and the ability to anchor in the pass game and create a lot of force in the run game.

You would think that would be the case.

The first time I'd heard the Saints mention they had a preferred type or size for IOL was when Sean was talking about signing Goodwin, and he went into length on the IOL...

He said that was what attracted them to Carl Nicks was that as a big man like that engaged, it gave 'em some more range to get push on the inside. First I'd heard that thinking...

But if you look at what they've signed, used on the inside, even Center, rarely did they deploy guys 6' 3" at C or even below 6' 5" with Jahri Evans being the exception...

Apparently these so called requirements are no longer in play.

Solid senior bowl showing.

I'm sure Cincy is all over this prospect.

Officially 8.5” hands for QB Kenny Pickett. That would be the smallest for QB’s in the league.

He'll slide down the draft board.

For some teams, hand size is more important than others.

#FWIW, Michael Vick had 8.5" hands...

This was the guy from Nebraska I wanted to sneak away with in the 7th round, he's not even in the dBase of some mock sims; that's gonna change...

Vick also had 98 fumbles in 115 career starts, including 16 in 2004 to lead the league.

Treylon Burks with 4.55 on the first run. We’ll see how his second run turns out but that’s not as fast as I thought.

All in is right. Best route runner in the draft with 4.26 speed. Close friends with Michael Thomas. Olave is the guy.

We can always trade up. We know how to do that.

What is going on with these WR’s?!? These guys are all sub-4.4!

I thought he’d be in the low 4.5’s. This is incredible. These fellas are scootin’.

And this was without the insanely fast Jameson Williams too. What a perfect time to have a big need to get faster at WR.

Too bad the Saints won’t select Olave though .

We’ll wait until day 2.

Re: 2022 NFL Draft: Draft Prospects, Scouting

WR Alec Pierce, CIN, 6' 3", 211 lbs, has had a terrific combine performance and definitely moved into Round 2 - he's my favorite WR in this class...

40 yd dash - 4.33 sec (6th) Acceleration

Vertical Jump - 40.50" (1st) Jump Balls

Broad Jump - 10' 9" (7th) Burst

If we took Trevor Penning in Round 1, Pierce in Round 2, and S Kerby Joseph in Round 3, we'd have as impactful a draft imaginable...

What kind of s*** is this?! How could Olave’s time be off by .13? That’s a crazy discrepancy.

ChrisXVI 03-03-2022 10:22 PM

Re: 2022 NFL Draft: Draft Prospects, Scouting

Most surprising was how mediocre Treylon Burks tested. All the hype was about how he’d blow up the combine. An official 4.55 forty, 33” vertical, 10’ 2” broad jump… all very average. Not good for a guy who’s route running isn’t very good either.

Edit: Forgot to add the 7.28 three-cone time as well.

The draft rumor peddlers continue to report the Saints are very high on Tulsa left tackle Tyler Smith.
