NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports the Saints are "closing in on a multiyear contract extension" with DE Tanoh Kpassagnon.

Kpassagnon signed with the Saints two years ago and is set to become a free agent in the spring. He has six sacks and as many TFLs in 23 appearances with the team. The Saints have numerous defensive linemen with expiring contracts this offseason. Bringing back Kpassagnon gives them some flexibility with who the are forced to let walk.

Re: Official 2023 OFFSEASON Thread

I'm pretty sure that Marcus Davenport will get to test the market after we offer him a fair market contract. If he takes it and goes somewhere else then we finally get something for him with a compensatory pick. It's not the ideal scenario after using two first round draft picks on him but it's probably the best we can do.

Read an article yesterday on the "possibility" of Davenport ending up with Demeco out in Houston. Imagine him turning Marcus D into a 10+-sack DE .

Boy, that would be a terrible look for Dennis Allen.

Yes it would. But that may not be the only thing that makes Dennis Allen look terrible. Have you checked out his play calling?

His playcalling had the Saints as the #5 ranked defense (total yards allowed) in the NFL last season. That's pretty darned good.

The Saints have had a pretty solid defense since Allen's return. I'm not sure that Davenport having success somewhere else would necessarily reflect poorly on Allen.
That said, I would hate it if he were to become what the Saints and their fans have been expecting for the past few years on a team other than the Saints.
