Re: 2013 NFL Draft - Saints Big Board
Reid is a 2nd rounder, if the Saints only had a second round pick damn
|
I think it may have to be OT in the first.
If we can't keep Brees up right and give him time in the pocket the defensive issues won't matter. My hope is that Margus Hunt is still there in the third round. In dont see him still being there as his stick is rising and I see him having a great work out in the combines and going in the second. |
Couple of others being taken according to some mocks
15. New Orleans Saints - Johnathan Hankins, DT, Ohio State No team played the run worse this season than the Saints. Sedrick Ellis hasn't lived up to his draft position and the depth at tackle in New Orleans is reliant on Akiem Hicks developing. Instead of hoping on Hicks, Hankins would step into a prominent position inside for the Saints. There are some effort issues with Hankins, but his talent and size would be hard to pass up at this point in the draft. The last part worries me. I'd rather have somebody good who comes to play and gives his all w dry down than a very good player that takes plays off. One of the reports on CBS has Manti Te'o falling to the Saints.Dont see it myself. I think we need DE/DT/OT more but he would be too good to pass up wouldn't he? |
Thoughts on Cornellius Carradine,DE, Florida State
He tore his ACL late in the season and has dropped down the boards. Some have him dropping to the 4rd round now.Might be a good option. Season stats (12 games): 80 tackles, 11 sacks, 13 tackles for loss, forced fumble, fumble recovery. Player ranking: Carradine is ranked No. 110 overall and is the No. 14 defensive end in CBSSports.com's latest player rankings. Up next: Carradine's season is over due to a torn ACL. - Sean Bielawski, CBSSports.com |

Depends on how bad the tear was.
It also depends in who is left on the board come the 4th round and who we have re-signed and already drafted. I'm just throwing names out there that could be worth looking at. If he is player we need then its worth the wait. |

Would love to see us have a shot at Rambo, but I'm thinking he'll be long gone by the third

Re: 2013 NFL Draft - Saints Big Board
This team needs to be blown up. Too many pieces for just one pick.

Alec Ogletree, Bacarri Rambo don’t make trip to Missouri
7:29 pm September 7, 2012, by Chip Towers COLUMBIA, MO. – Georgia will be without Alec Ogletree and Bacarri Rambo when the Bulldogs play Missouri on Saturday at Faurot Field. Ogletree and Rambo were not among the 70 UGA players that traveled to Holiday Inn Executive Center on Friday night. Neither Ogletree, the starting “Mo” linebacker, nor Rambo, an All-American free safety, played in last week’s opener against Buffalo either. Georgia has never confirmed that the players are suspended, but Rambo’s high school coach said in March both would be out four games for a second violation of UGA’s marijuana-use policy. Alec Ogletree, Bacarri Rambo don’t make trip to Missouri | UGA sports blog Rambo has the talent and the production to be a first-round pick, but the off-the-field concerns are going to hurt him. He probably will fall to the second day because of his multiple suspensions. WalterFootball.com: 2013 NFL Draft Scouting Report: Bacarri Rambo Rambo might be there for us dude. The saints have always stayed away from party players. It will all depend on his combine interview i guess |
Re: 2013 NFL Draft - Saints Big Board
I wish we could get Bjorn Werner, the Germanator!
|
Look possible a couple of weeks back but his draft position has shot up 10 or so places.Shame he looks a great prospect. To be honest though i would take Mathews or Joeckel over him.
I think there are options later at DE if we had a shot at them two. Might be worth seeing if the Bengals or Rams want to move up a few places and take one of there second rounders. |

Re: 2013 NFL Draft - Saints Big Board
If the Notre Dame Linebacker is there when we pick (doubt it as Detroit has great needs on defense) - then things get real interesting...

You talking about Manti Te'o?.
I don't think he makes it to 15,I have seen one mock with him dropping that far. |

Re: 2013 NFL Draft - Saints Big Board
Interesting.
Im still thinking that trading back to gain a second rounder if possible is the way to go,unless the player on the board is just too good to turn down. Hard to tell what need done yet though, need to get the cap room opened up and some free agents in. |

Re: 2013 NFL Draft - Saints Big Board
Fields was a good pick, despite him being a square peg being punched into a round hole - his athleticism, speed were so great that he still played well...
He went to Carolina and then retired due to his battle with Hodgkin's lymphoma... He was a great player and I was miffed we lost him to Carolina... |

Benson needs to start banging the drum as an owner and get our picks back unless Louis Freeh and his people gave him bad news...

Well, I thought that a tweener from the draft might be the best answer to the front 4 woes, since it would almost be two guys with one pick, but they'd still need another impact player like Johnson via FA. |
Re: 2013 NFL Draft - Saints Big Board
I was looking at this clip package(below) of him yesterday.Looks fantastic.Gets through the line to the QB/RB with ease, good mover.

Nice vid, thanks for that! That SC guard that went against him on most of those pass rushes was just total garbage, I mean it looked like he had been bumped full of horse tranquilizers before the game. :-) |
Re: 2013 NFL Draft - Saints Big Board
Sheldon Richardson has disappeared against elite lineman; not struggled - disappeared...
I love his motor and fire though; I'd really like to see him with a little pro coaching at the post BCS bowl games and how he responds... And he needs a twenty more pounds of bulk... |
Just throwing another name to the list.
Is Barret Jones worth trading down for. We need some depth on the offensive line and he can play any of the five spots.Gives good depth or possible replacement for Bushrod/De La Puente if they want to much to re-sign. Could trade down and gain another 2nd or early third rounder and get him. |
Re: 2013 NFL Draft - Saints Big Board
DLP is a RFA, and I don't think the qualifying offer tender for him will be that high, so I think he'll be back with an affordable price-tag - something along the line of ~$1.2M perhaps.
It's the same thing with Galette and Ivory. |

Barret Jones is my #1 offense pick
Right now i am leaning heavy to Alex Okafor, DE, Texas as my #1 pick for the defense. the more i watch him the more i like his attitude. He is the best DE that has a chance of starting from day one. Good against the run and can rush the passer. the best bet to be a 3 down DE in the first round. Ok he is much like Cam but that aint a bad thing. either one an additional pick. |
