Re: 2014 NFL Draft
The Miami Dolphins are looking to trade Dion Jordan for a 1st round pick in order to try to rebuild their O-Line... So here's a question: Will there be a better prospect available when we pick 27th than Dion Jordan? The guy was the Anthony Barr of last years draft and the Dolphins miscast him as a 4-3 DE. Something to seriously consider.
|
Re: 2014 NFL Draft
Dion Jordan ??? over hyped and over drafted much like Ingram was. If they take a third for him it is possible
Dion Jordan, DE for the Miami Dolphins at NFL.com stats prove it. dolphins bought in hook line and sinker and traded away two #1 to get the kid. sound familiar? unless you really think it was truly the scheme and playing for the dolphins was the core of issue. |

Also, Colt Lyerla (TE from Oregon) may honestly be the most talented TE in the draft. He has MAJOR off the field issues though.. But if he straightens up he will be an absolute steal. |

UNC Ebron compares to Vernon Davis; he'll make some great plays and absolutely affect individual games, but he won't be a week-in-week-out player worthy of an early first round selection... Texas Tech Jace Amaro just schiott his pants at the combine - his pro day will be pivotal; up until his combine disappointment, he looked alot Aaron Hernandez (on the field)... Austin Seferian-Jenkins?!? First of all, pick a last name. Give the equipment manager and the rest of us a break. I'll help, geaux with Jenkins and you'll have a great marketing moniker in "AJ". Jenkins also just had surgery and there were already questions if he could produce against professional adversaries as he did in the junior varsity league known as the Pac10 sans Stanford... Niklas actually compares to Graham in alot of ways with one major difference; he's the best inline blocker among his contemporaries. For those of us who know when Graham is lined up in certain positions that Drew is gonna check out of a run and spare the viewing audience the disaster that is Jimmy Graham blocking, now you have a legitimate threat and you have the defense honest rather than jumping the play... I'd really like Niklas as a second round pick... |

1 Xavier Su'a-Filo 2 Jack Mewhort 3 Marcus Martin 4 Bashaud Breeland 5 Stanley Jean-Baptiste 6 Ty Zimmerman Not the most exciting of drafts but it could potentially be very effective |

I haven't heard him mention any team. He's saying all the right things, which is really smiling and talking but not saying anything. He's blessed, he was part of a great defense. He's honored yadda yadda.... The local sports radio guys think he's going to go in the middle of the first round. I've heard the Cowboys and Bears mentioned a couple times. I've also read that he spoke with the Packers. Haven't heard the Saints mentioned at all. And I don't know if the Cougar fans would like the idea of him going from BYU to Bourbon Street. (they serve alcohol there!!!) He was a star here. The BYU coaches say he's a workaholic. He constantly studies film. They compare him a lot to Eric Weddle when it comes to his work ethic. He's a kind of a hero in Provo for the way he handled his Honor Code violations. I've attached a local news station write up. The news station is owned by the LDS Church and they're known to be very "Pro BYU". Kyle Van Noy is the best defensive player in BYU history | KSL.com U of U fans, on the other hand, say he's going to be too small and not fast enough at the NFL level. (Utah and BYU are only about 45 miles apart and they hate each other) But all that being said, I don't know how much is real and how much is hype. The one thing both sides agree on is that his fiance' is smokin hot. BYU Stud LB Kyle Van Noy Engaged To Marissa Powell, Miss Utah USA 2013 About the Jazz name, every Utah fan that I've met thinks it's crazy that Utah has the name, there's no Jazz music here and the only music this place is famous for is the Tabernacle Choir...but they love it. And none of the fans that I know want to give it up. And they certainly don't want to be called the Choir Boys like I've suggested. A couple were interested in a possible trade for the Saints name though. |

the only real knock on the kid is point of attack. he can run himself out plays and can struggle disengaging a bit once a blocker gets his hands on him If the saints did take him he would draw man coverage on almost 95% of the TE in the NFL on passing downs. something this team has really lacked plus adding a girlfriend like that in the stands is always a plus :p do not read much in that 4.71 from the combine. i am waiting on his pro day. 4.71 aint bad at all either If the saints used a standard 34 defense i might say kyle is better off in a strongside linebacker in a 43. but as long as the saints continue to use the base defense Williams installed and the whacked sets additions from last year. i think he could find a home here |

Other than Roby I am loving this group of corners. Lots of ballhawks and guys who are physically tough. Verrett seems to be falling down the boards because of his size - if we can get him we'll be set at corner for the next 5-6 years.

I want to tell all of you this dream, and I really mean a sleeping type of dream, not made up but Lommis and Payton picked 5 O-linenen and 1 TE in the draft. I was not going to share this but I just for some reason I thought I would. I thought about this at work tonight and here is what I come up with our 2 pro bowl Gaurds are not getting any younger, we need a stud Center, our RT is not a spring chicken either, only real youth there is our LT and Graham will be costly, remember it was an actual dream but as crazy as it sounds it might work grooming the rookies for a year and replace the aging vets. I wish I had dreamed about a FS in there somewhere!!

Re: 2014 NFL Draft
Cornerback is deeper than you think this year; unless it's Gilbert, Dennard, or maybe Fuller, I'd wait for a cornerback until later rounds and look for guys like
Round 3 (91) Pierre Desir, CB, Lindenwood; Height: 6 1; Weight: 195 lbs. Round 5 (155) Walt Aikens, CB, Liberty; Height: 6 0; Weight: 198 lbs.Round 6 (186) Dontae Johnson, DB, NC State; Height: 6 2; Weight: 200 lbs. Just gotta be disciplined in our drafting the BPA when we pick and Verrett is a second round pick at best because of his size he will be exposed against 6' 3"+ WR in the NFL everyweek; remember, in college, he may have faced 3-4 receivers a year like described; every week in the NFL, teams are 2-4 receivers deep like that... |

Jordan Matthews | The Sideline View
Read this excerpt from this scouting report... ...In fact, heading into said opener against Ole Miss, he was truly the only weapon Vanderbilt had on offense. Now, dont get me wrong, the Commodores had some fine players, but without former WR mate Chris Boyd (suspended all year), Matthews was THE guy that could change the game. Vandy knew it. Ole Miss HAD to know it. And, the Rebels couldnt stop him. He finished with ten catches for 178 yards and a touchdown. But, in the second half of that game, he was exhausted. He took an IV, came back in the game. He caught a key third catch with just over two minutes left, got drilled, threw up all over the field. He then came back four plays later and caught his tenth pass of the game on 4th and 18 for the biggest first down of the game. But, after Ole Miss had scored to take the lead, Matthews had a pass bounce off his hands that ended up in the hands of an Ole Miss DB. Matthews was distraught on the sideline; he thought he had cost his team the game. Yet, Ole Miss beats Vandy by three touchdowns if Matthews didnt completely sell out all over that field in 95 degree heat... Believe Matthews is a Payton Effort Guy... |
Re: 2014 NFL Draft
i do see the logic, i am just stumped. how can you pay a QB so much money and not have protection as your #1 goal for that investment. I really am thinking the saints may want to just trade drew and get what they can and start over. you would be doing him a favor and me. i like him too much to watch him get creamed again next year. one time he will not get up.
he has lost his leading receiver sproils and his personal fav in moore. he is going to need more time in he pocket. i am getting a feeling we may have a suitor for PT at draft time. my greatest fear at this point. rookies on the left, right, middle and the backfield. |
