Agree completely.

When he plays, it's mostly elite LT play. Just sucks he's injured so much.

But if he leaves for more $$ ... I'll understand ;).

I believe Duncan or Ross mentioned that he's ended up on IR 3 out of the last 5 seasons . A highly compensated O lineman I might add.

Not a good stat to have.

Peat is worse because he's nowhere near the talent level of Armstead.

Unfortunately neither is in our control. Terron can get paid and we can't match. On the other hand we're already paying Peat an absurd contract and can't trade him.

KC offered Peat an almost identical deal however, the Saints matched it.

What would really concern me is if he moved to LT.

What makes even worse for Peat is that guard is the least injured position in the NFL.

Not good at all.

Not at his age, I'd rather have D.J. Chark Jr. opposite Mike Thomas, Allen Robinson couldn't match Chark's vertical speed, ability to really stretch the field...

Yeah he is incredibly streaky. When he play his best football he is really good but other times he is plain horrible.

Do the Saints need to add another possibly "injury prone" WR?

Love the skill set, size and the ability to separate however past injuries (adding more bulk would help) & the inability to stay on the field are concerning.

Decisions, decisions, decisions.

Get killed with a rookie QB or play for winner? Playing on a winner has a way of making minor bumps and bruises go away...

Interview him and ask him about the injuries, if he's another Mr. Glass, I'd agree, move on; but his ability his undeniable...

DJ Chark is too thin and can't hold up to the rigors of being an NFL WR.

We could always continue getting the band back together and trade for Brandin Cooks on a cap friendly sign and trade deal enticing him with more guaranteed money...

Cooks opposite Thomas would be pretty imposing on opposing defenses...

A 29 year old Cooks back in NOLA, huh? I guess he could certainly keep that safety honest...

Quick question guys, how much can be afforded on a FA WR?

Russell Gage (Falcons UFA) could fill the slot and I think he's just scratching the surface on production. Could be a cheaper option? Then could use the draft for mid round WR.

Re: 2021 NFL Free Agency: New Orleans Saints

As for Qb I think the following are off the table.

-Rodgers
- Wilson
- Winston

This leaves
- Cousins- probably off the table.
- Carr- doubt he’s going anywhere. Probably off the table.
- Wentz- HAHAHAHHA
- Mayfield- eh
- Bridgewater- better than what we have but won’t get us to the Super Bowl and definitely not a franchise Qb.
- Jimmy G- at least he’s been there.

I don’t see any of these guys are a long term solution. I would love to have Carr or maybe even Cousins but other than that I see the rest as 1 or 2 year guys filling in until other options come along.
We have a great defense and I would hate to “waste it” because we can’t keep up offensively. We would not have Alvin for a while so we may have to rely on a Qb that can be more than just a game manager.
If Winston isn’t available I think drafting may be our best option. Yes we have other needs but a lot of holes can be filled with the money we would have to cough up for a vet Qb.

If we're just after a placeholder then I'd go with Hill. We still don't know whether Book has the stuff. Bring in a vet backup and roll with that. Assuming Jameis moves on of course.

Jameis Winston has in front of him a unique opportunity to not only be the heir to Brees but carry a loaded team of guys who like him well into the playoffs.

He's our QB.

Re: 2021 NFL Free Agency: New Orleans Saints

With an established defense already in place, I’d go after Winston FIRST.

How many more games could we have possibly won if he doesn’t get injured?

Cousins, Jimmy G (see his recent playoff performances), Wentz simply don’t do it for me. DWatson & Russ are the only guys I like more but you are going to have to give up a good player or two for their services.

This will probably become the most anticipated Free agency period for me in quite a while.

Living out here I can confirm Jimmy G doesn't suck, but he's that QB that will make at least one bone-headed throw a game, often in the worst possible moment. He just has a knack for it. I would be extremely disappointed if we went after him. IMO it's Jameis, then Hill - either way we're okay.

With simple restructures alone we can get to around $20 million under the cap. Add another $10 million by releasing Roby and then with a few extensions we can easily get to around $35 million in free cap. Of course, keeping Marcus Williams will cost some and we'll need to reserve $5 million or so for rookie contracts. There's no reason why we can't dabble in the FA market a bit.

No reason at all since the cap doesn't matter, eh little speedo? Let's sign Rogers, Wilson as his backup, Deebo...who else? Maybe we can coax Deion out of retirement and let Marcus walk? Ah hell lets sign him too!
