I think Adebo had a tremendous year for a rookie CB. One of the hardest positions on the field to play. I think that with him and Lattimore on the outside and Williams and CJGJ on the inside we will be a team that other teams won't like to pass against.

And not only knees. Look how quickly Kwon Alexander returned from that torn Achilles in Week 16 last December and play once again at a high level. That would have cost a player the following season under previous scenarios.

They already don't like to run against us. :D Not a bad position to be in.

Don't want to lose PJ Williams.

Will be surprised if we're able to afford to retain P.J. Williams...

We have $88 million in cap space that can be instantly created for 2022 simply by converting 2022 roster bonuses and base salaries into signing bonuses. Even more can be found with extensions. We can afford to pay him, but do we want to for a given sum? I agree with Major that he should be one of several priorities with all of that available cap.

But, we'll see when that time comes, I suppose. Contract time is one of my favorite times of the NFL season. Just like the pre-draft and draft are yours, JP. The NFL has something for everyone. No wonder it continues to make money hand over fist.

Yeah. Both knee injuries and achilles injuries are the type of stuff that ended people's careers 20-30 years ago. Modern surgery techniques are spectacular and the rehab processes are so very improved.

We've trained him well. Also, he's in a great system with the Saints who have excellent coaches to coach him up to his full potential.

He’s had a roller coaster ride but one thing that stands out …

His ability to tackle well in space. At FSU, you saw traits of that but boy he’s really impressed me in the “head up/chin up, wrap up” tackling.

IMO this is lost in “todays” NFL.

Who wouldn’t want Allen on their team ?

He’s played with trash QBs most of his career and still solid production.

BMW M5 price tag though …

Allen is more of a WRx, but I'd agree, he's a fantastically great underrated WR...

I'd be eyeing the more affordable WRz (i.e. Sanders) to complement Thomas...

If we could get a first and a third for Mike, then sign Allen for less - that'd be a sweet move...

jeanpierre 01-21-2022 08:59 PM

Re: 2021 NFL Free Agency: New Orleans Saints

Some bargains at WRz in the FA Market in Emmanuel Sanders, D.J. Chark, Anthony Miller, Sammy Watkins, Christian Kirk, Will Fuller, and more of a slot, Adam Humphries...

Was reading on PFF that Gallup is expected to get Four years, $55 million ($13.75M per year, $32.5 million total guaranteed) - that's looks to be cost prohibitive...

PFF also projected that WR Allen Robinson looked to earn Three years, $48 million ($16M per year, $30 million total guaranteed) vs CantGuardMike at $22M/Year...

So if bridges can't be mended, we could always get a min first and a third for CantGuardMike, so long as we sign Allen Robinson - just spitballin' possibilities...

Are they taking into consideration his injury history? He's awesome when in there. But then again, I remember seeing something like only one starting left tackle played every game this year.

I hope you are right. We'll see. He had his lowest number of starts this season in five years, but left tackles seemed to have been decimated this whole past season for some reason.

I wish it were so but stellar LTs are at a premium and he is one of the best in the leauge when healthy. Would not surprise me one bit if some team believe they can do a better job in keeping him of fthe trainers table and thus are willing to spend big.

Don't be so sure, we really don't have much or need much to get over the hump...

We re-sign Marcus Williams, sign a WRz, we just gotta focus on that offensive line...

And Sean missed when he personally got involved with some of the free agent recruiting anyways...

Sean had few peers in game planning, X's and O's, but he left a lot to be desired with his inconsistent player evaluations...

Did you watch the Bengals game?
I'd be shocked if they weren't willing to offer him a big deal

Re: 2021 NFL Free Agency: New Orleans Saints

Unfortunately, someone will offer more money than the Saints are willing to when they will offer Armstead fair market value. He's great and I am proud of what he's done to protect Drew and those other four QB's. Besides, we've got Ramczyk to move to the left side which is is natural position. Right tackle can be addressed with one of out our draft picks.

The New Orleans Saints need a couple of young mauling guards who can operate in space also to replace Peat and give Ruiz someone to compete with at training camp. I'll give Ruiz one more year but if year three is anything like years one and two I'm done with him. I'll admit that some of our first round picks either take too long to develop or just don't develop at all but we have to keep drafting high in the trenches to protect AK47 and whoever is under center.

Our priorities in Free Agency should be to:

  1. Secure FS Marcus Williams, keeping the defense intact...

  2. Sign a WRz such as D.J. Chark, Christian Kirk...

  3. Move Peat in a minimal cap hit contract...

Williams, yes.

WR I would welcome guys like Allen Robinson, JuJu Smith, and Godwin

Peat. I just don't see what other team would want him for that contract. Detroit, maybe...?

We have Michael Thomas already at WRx, would you move him for one of those cats?

I suggested Chark or Kirk as they're more a WRz, downfield, tear the top off the defense to open things up...

Was surprised but some recent reading I've done says they're a number of teams that have a more favorable view of Peat than we may have here...

The WR room instantly gets better with any of these guys.

If I had to choose just one, I'd take Allen. Solid numbers even when he's had less than average QB's throwing him the ball over the years.

We can't afford Allen Robinson and he's gonna be 29 years old this upcoming season...

Just sign a solid WRz, let Michael Thomas come back healthy and the WR discussion dies out...

I’ll be honest here.

Mike is a huge question mark. How is his rehab going? What’s his timeline on getting back to 100/football shape? No setbacks? Etc.

He hasn’t played organized football in forever.

Speaking of Thomas getting healthy, it’s concerning to me that there is more info on how Winston is coming along after surgery than there is info on CGM. Just my opinion. Hope I m wrong and he comes back strong.
