Garrett Wilson - WR "Thee" Ohio State. Imagine having Garrett and Mike Thomas on the field at the same time. If there was a draft year where I'd like to have an OSU player drafted, it's 2022.

Yes, please.

Re: 2022 NFL Draft: Draft Prospects, Scouting

Jaxon Kirkland - OT aka Big Ugly

Scouting report per WalterFootall:

11/13/21: Kirkland is playing left tackle for Washington this season, but for the NFL, he looks like a better fit at guard or right tackle. In Week 2, he had some struggles with Michigan's Aiden Hutchinson, but Kirkland made some nice plays as well. In November, he had a mixed showing against Oregon's Kayvon Thibodeaux, but Washington sent a lot of double teams and extra attention to Thibodeaux.

I'd like to see them draft a big NT/DT high in the next draft, but there are naturally other positions of higher need.

Saints O line went from a top 10 unit to injuries, scrubs, and 24-hour fitness managers.

Mid round is where I’d target a guard/tackle.

I'd never take a NT higher than the late 3rd round; however, an exceptional DT3? I'd take in the first round, just hated the Payton-era R1 selections...

Look at the value we got for Onyemata...

Re: 2022 NFL Draft: Draft Prospects, Scouting

The DT position is a sneaky need for us. Shy Tuttle has become a pretty reliable run-stopper in base defense but we need more interior pressure on passing downs. We have a grand total of 1.5 sacks this season from our DT’s and 7 TFL’s.

Hicks aswell, though he stepped up more after he left.
Agree that with the holes the Saints have a DT in the 1st wouldn't be a great move.

I'm honestly expecting a a OT. Though imho if they are not in a full rebuild mode they should re-sign Armstead to squash his 12ml dead cap hit and spread it over a new deal.
Having Armstead and Ramczyk anchoring both ends of the line and McCoy at C is a great starting point. Ideally you get at least one starting calibre guard in and let Peat/Ruiz/Throckmorton etc battle out for the other spot.

WR all depends on what happens with MT, if his head is straight and he is healthy I don't actually think the WR are bad at all. A 3/4 rounder might be enough to fill out the room with whatever you pick up in FA as the likes of Smith,Stills need to be gone. But Thomas Calloway Harris is a nice start.

TE is a must
RB a luxury that can't be afforded bar a late rounder flyer

DE all depends on what the future is for Cam Jordan.
I really wouldn't mind seeing another brought in and Cam playing both DE/DT especially with how fragile Davenport and Turner are. I do like Kpassagnon aswell.

DT
Strength of the line they seem to be able to just slot UDFA and late round picks in and they hold the line well most games. Not alot of sacks from them but more important holes imo. Not a particularly strong point in drafting R1 DE lately

LB
3 good starting calibre players in Werner,Kwon and Davis.
Be nice to resign Kwon if possible.

CB
Probably OK there

S
Depends on what happens with Williams who will be a massive loss as he will be getting paid big big money. Then there Jenkins age

Re: 2022 NFL Draft: Draft Prospects, Scouting

I don’t see us going O-Line in the first round. We aren’t going to bench or get rid of Ruiz or Peat. Ramczyk will move to LT and either Hurst or Young will play RT.

As far as what direction we will go in, we have to see who we lose to FA.

OL, WR (1a, 1b).

You need to bring in more quality players that will compete.

Free Agency/draft will be interesting for New Orleans.

Let Armstead walk, take the compensatory 3rd, draft Trevor Penning; with Ramczyk under contract, we're good for five years at OT; Young is your swing OT...

But what if Wilson, Olave, or Treylon Burks are still on the board mid-way first round & we're on deck ? ...

For me, MT is still a question mark heading in 2022. One could argue that the Saints need a LEGIT #1 WR.

It’s amazing that there doesn’t appear to be any update on the timetable for his return. Will he be ready for training camp?

Understand, but look at how much coin you got tied up in Alvin Kamara, and the fact we no longer control the line of scrimmage - that's a non-starter...

You get a capable veteran FA WR as a stop-gap, and if MT is still showing his *ss, you won't have a problem getting a first round pick-plus in compensation...

And while moving MT would also give serious cap relief, believe that Sean will get this situation fixed before next season...

Who do you have in mind here?

Up my way, the talk has been how Jerrah J intends to retain the services of Michael Gallup ... I'd love to have him in New Orleans.

Juju Schuster is another intriguing player for me as well. Probably won't break the bank either.

Re: 2022 NFL Draft: Draft Prospects, Scouting

Considering we’re currently picking 13th and we don’t trade down, we need a young playmaker. That’s too early for a RT.

papz 12-31-2021 08:46 AM

Re: 2022 NFL Draft: Draft Prospects, Scouting

It's a very intriguing WR free agent class. Plenty of guys still in that prime age range that coming off down years, injury, or things just haven't quite clicked yet. There's also some higher priced former studs as well.

Along with the names mentioned in the above post(Gallup/Shuster)...

Mike Williams, SD
Adam Humphries, WFT
Allen Robinson, CHI
Russell Gage, ATL
DJ Chark, JAX
Jamison Crowder, NYJ
Christian Kirk, ARZ

These guys could certainly help and there's still upside there.

I've always found Pringle and Robinson interesting out of KC. At the very least, they can stretch out the field and should be cost effective. Trade target wise, I know interdivisional trades are tough to come by but I'm a fan of Tyler Johnson out of TB. I'd love to see what he could do in extended snaps. It's been quite a log jam over there.

I'm not typically big proponent in Bama draft prospects(far too often they peak out in college regarding upside), but Jameson Williams is a legitimate game breaker. I want plus there's that vaunted Ohio State connection there as well. You know the Saints love those.

Yes, please.

The early "mocks" have us selecting Jameson. Imagine coupling this burner with MT, Callaway, and Harty.

Huuuge test for Jameson Williams today vs Cincinnati.

Take note of the Cincy WRs while you’re at it.

One of those guys could help us move the chains on Sundays.

Good point! I forgot about Cincy WR Alec Pierce. Good test for him today too against Bama’s secondary.

What's everyone thoughts on Malik Willis?
Is he good enough passer,or is it more flash in lower competition. Similar size to Lamar and your already seeing him start to get banged up more and more

A lot of critics have the same "weaknesses" in his game ...

Failure to throw receivers open & bad reads. Will need a lot of coaching up and some will consider his competition in college.

What I found interesting on his NFL comparison: TAYSOM HILL but with more speed.

Maybe a Day 2, 3 guy.
