Something to keep in mind about addressing our O-Line… Sean Payton doesn’t draft guards. Our MO has always been to draft OT’s and move them to guard; for better or worse.

Or draft a center to move to guard.

It’s an approach that makes sense. With OT’s you have highly athletic guys and with centers you have highly intelligent guys.

This is true.

Jahri Evans and Carl Nicks worked out pretty good; Sean actually disclosed in an interview a few years ago about his "certain types"; and he prefers tall linemen...

In my mock, Tennessee G Cade Mays has played a number of positions which is something Sean covets...

Ole Miss OT Nick Broeker is very athletic, supposedly runs a sub 5.0 40 and will just need to work on functional strength his first season...

Yep Nicks and Evans are the best examples of the left tackle moving to guard method.

Cade Mays would be an excellent choice in the 3rd or 4th round. His versatility fits what we look for:

35 career starts with 19 at right guard, 12 at right tackle, two at left guard and two at left tackle.

If replacing Armstead wasn't such a priority (have been using strategy of Penning to RT, Ramczyk to LT), I'd move around for a QB in round 1 if warranted...

Reminder, Ramczyk has a lot of bonus language in his contract with him as the Left Tackle, that's why I believe Armstead's departure is so imminent...

And I've never been a fan of Mr. Glass (Armstead) and his unavailability; yes he's had moments, but he's always ducking out of games...

Will have to recalculate what he made based on games actually played...

As often as he's been injured, don't think teams will be unloading the Brinks truck in Free Agency.

It wouldn't surprise me one bit to see Armstead in a Saints jersey for 2022.

Drafting his replacement this year would be nice, let him sit until Armstead gets hurt or if somehow someway he stays healthy for most of the season the rookie gets to learn from one of the best when healthy.

Plays high which makes him look stiff. Footwork looks alright. I'd be okay with him in the second round.

Late 1/3 1st Early 2nd is where he's expected to be taken...

The more I look at that top safety, the more I'm liking him. Don't know if he makes it to 18 but if he does, pull the trigger.

I would think that safety or DB's in general would be one of the least of our worries. OL, WR, and TE seem to me to be more lacking. Between Ceedy Duce and Marcus Williams it would be hard to get enough playing time to warrant the first round pick for that position wouldn't you think? And Malcolm Jenkins and PJ Williams are still options, as well.

Drafting him and not breaking the bank for Williams would be a possibility. Might allow a free agent signings somewhere else. Possibly even to go after a quarterback. Although I like Jameis.

Possibly. I just couldn't see passing him up if he's there, could be a good problem to have. I like Winston also.

I really hope you don't think Malcolm Jenkins is really a FS. Some might say he's getting long in the tooth as an excuse but in reality he's never really been a FS, if you want a 50 burger put on you , just put him in the deep and watch. Not his forte!!

Just saying Jenkins played about 98% of all the defensive snaps over this season and is a defensive captain. 100% of the snaps over the final 15 games, in fact. I'd say he has value.

Questions our scouts need to be asking ...

Can he develop (played against lower-level competition)?

Can he be coached up?

Mid-round draft selection perhaps?

Anything Saints is my thing. I just haven't been into the college game much for years. Not since my oldest started his swimming career. That was over twenty years ago. I read more these days online than in the past so if I see something relevant I'll share it. One thing I've come across is that the QB class is the weakest it's been for many years and a first rounder selection would be a mistake. But, we all know there will be more than one taken. I just hope to hell it isn't the Saints making that mistake.
