Didn't say anywhere. All I read was he was was seen talking with a trainer and then walked off the field. That doesn't sound too significant.

A few things I've gathered so far...

The Good
Brandon Coleman is looking like a beast.
Alvin Kamara is looking like Marshall Faulk.
Ryan Ramczyk is the real deal.
Marshon Lattimore sticks like glue.

The Bad
Our DB's are not very good in zone coverage and that's what Dennis Allen likes to run.
We don't have a good back-up center.

Hopefully Dennis Allen does what he has preached this offseason and puts his players in a position to be successful. If for some reason a coverage isn't working he will hopefully adjust until it does. But, you can't know what works until you try and that is what this time of year is all about.

Unger better be back.

Re: 2017 New Orleans Saints Training Camp

  1. Heat, physical workout take toll on players
  2. David Onyemata getting an opportunity to make an impact
  3. Marshon Lattimore finding his way at cornerback
  4. Alex Anzalone pushing Stephone Anthony at weak-side linebacker
  5. Pass rush remains a question mark
  6. Jordan, Kenny Vaccaro displaying leadership

We won't know much about this team until we see them against other teams in preseason and even then we won't know much until it counts. Talk with me week 4 or 5. That said we have some play makers and I'd say we have more talent than the last few years. Oline is a possible strength and hopefully Unger is back sooner than later.

Read Duncan said we are not getting much disruption and pressure minus Cam Jordan, only day 4 but that's not going to get it done.

Re: 2017 New Orleans Saints Training Camp

6 takeaways from the defense at Saints camp | NOLA.com

Some other odds and ends: Typical rookie day for Marcus Williams at free safety. A couple of bad angles and got blown up in special teams drills by running back Trey Edmunds.

...Two eye-catchers on the reserve defense were linebacker Adam Bighill and defensive lineman Mitchell Loewen....

Loewen is a bit of a ‘tweener at 6-5, 275, but he makes plays. One to watch...

...Ken Crawley... had a nice interception of Garrett Grayson during 7-on-7 drills and also had a nice PBU against Corey Fuller...

...Some communication issues led to a couple of blown assignments and big plays for the offense during teams drills. Linebacker A.J. Klein said the unit obviously needs to clean up the miscues but said that's what these early workouts are for, saying the tape from the workout would be a good learning experience for the defense...

...Not a defensive observation, but Thomas Gafford didn't help himself in the long snapper competition by sailing a ball over the head of punter Thomas Morstead and out of the back of the end zone. Yikes!

... Speaking of special teams, looks like Alvin Kamara will get the first crack at kickoff return duties.

WR Coleman looks to be making the leap in his third NFL Season with Curtis Johnson now coaching WRs...

Re: 2017 New Orleans Saints Training Camp

Can't help but think that Coleman could actually shake things up at No. 2 and No. 3 if he keeps flashing plays like he has...

That comment made by Payton last year late in camp about being pedestrian...

Coupled with CJ back in the fold as our WR coach really has this guy surging in Training Camp...

Guido, I was wrong, it was Bell not Breaux coming over to help PJ when Snead made that incredible catch...

Here's what I can't understand- how as a d do you cover fuller, coleman, thomas, snead, and kamara. Good luck

We have that every year. Is our defense any closer to stopping it?

While having to respect what could be the best running game we have fielded in a while.

Re: 2017 New Orleans Saints Training Camp

Brandon Coleman has been impressive to start camp. He got behind the defense once again to catch a deep post for a touchdown. However, Brees would have been sacked by Cam Jordan on the play. In a later drill, Coleman took a quick slant from Chase Daniel and raced 60-plus yards to the house.

Take Five: Other Observations
  • Veteran rest days for Zach Strief and Adrian Peterson. Manti Te’o also had the day off as the team continues to monitor his reps stemming from last year’s injury.
  • I’m not sure what’s going on with reserve center Jack Allen. He’s really struggled with bad snaps in every single practice of camp.
  • Ginn put a ridiculous fake on Williams during individual drills. The problem was Ginn bobbled the pass which allowed Williams to recover and knock the ball away. Ginn has always had inconsistent hands; they’ve shown up through these first few days of camp.
  • Damian Swann and DeVante Harris both had sacks off corner blitzes.
  • Wil Lutz hit a 53-yard field goal.

Yep, end of last season he came on; he's still needs some maturation and discipline, but he's definitely got the physical ability to be good...

Hell, he is sure showing up this year. Dare I say that Thomas and Snead are the only locks? Seems like Fuller is beating out Ginn at this point. Can Fuller contribute on special teams?

I always say by week 4 you have what you are going to have. If a team doesn't have an identity by then, they won't have much of one. By week four you should know your teams potential.
I think that's when we will get a good read as to weather or not Payton will be back.

No, we haven't had a good rec. out of backfield since sproles. Our line has been lacking for a few years. They started to get a little better last year because Jhari had a solid season, but (I have been saying this for awhile) this could be the best offense we have fielded since '11

Just because we put up a ton of crap time yards or Drew is able to make the oline look better than they are, we haven't had the type of offense this group has the potential to be since '11

The offense always makes it work. That's the point. I'm not worried about that. Our defense is very much a work in progress still.

Oh yeah, certainly the more worrisome side of the ball.

I just don't see how a team can come back from a loss like that on that big of a stage.
It would be like saving yourself for marriage and finally working up the nerve to propose to your girlfriend just to zippity-do-dah up to her house and catch her in the middle of a 10 guy gang bang.

I don't either. Most teams that lose a super bowl are effected the following season, but losing in that fashion...
